army corps of engineers dredged that really long canal that you come off of by Lee Way, thats why its perfectly straight, did it to fix flooding and it killed alot of the eco system. Today mother earth is taking it back but you can still see that that canal is straight as a board. Same thing they did at Kissimmee river and then Swift mud just paid a Billion bucks to fix 40 something miles of the river that the Army corps of engineers destroyed in the 1960s. SWFTMD is doing some gret things here in central FL
Yup, we did a whole lot of damage to this state through out the 20th century... I'm so glad the full development of south Florida was finally abandoned after WWII, otherwise there'd be no Everglades left to repair.
Thanks for sharing the video!
Great video... thanks for sharing. I plan on doing this paddle perhaps next month or in December. Great tip on skeg removal.
Awesome video. I can’t wait for kayaking in the refuge! Thanks!
Nice video man I go there all the time. One of my favorite places to canoe and hike.
Very nice
This seems like it would be a lot better experience than a noisy airboat ride.
What model canoe is that?
It's a Hornbeck Classic 13' handmade in Olmstedville, NY
