- At last we've made our way through the last couple episodes to drop so far for Miraculous season five! It's been quite a fun time so far, and this episode, Elation, is no exception. This one is for the shippers, with some premium love square shenanigans going on here. And hey, now I also hate Andre the Ice cream man... so that happened as well.
Andre said he couldn't give Marinete and Cat Noir ice cream because they were friends, but I remember that in Wishmaker he makes an ice cream to represent Luka and Marinete's friendship when he appears and joins her, so either this is a plot hole or Andre lied on purpose because he didn't like to see Marinete and Cat Noir together 😅
The latter seems more likely given the entire situation
Andre the ice man at this point is alarmingly concerned about minors relationships with eachother and if you think about it it is getting weirder by the minute.
And he would make one for kagami and marinette as friends when the two of them went with Adrien
The other option is that Andre canonically has an OTP and considers marichat against his adrienette and ladynoir otps

Apparently, Marinette was supposed to get akumatized in this episode, but a writer said they could make a whole event out of it, so they delayed it to Season 6.
If they actually do that and pull it off, I'll be impressed. It's such an interesting concept that shouldn't be a one-off thing

Andre basically represents the fandom and their ships. So having a 50 year old be interested in the love life of teenagers is not out the ordinary given current fandoms.
Being a 17 y/o fan thinking about something so sinister makes me look at the fandom, of which I thought would be with people my age +/- 6 years, a little different :(

I have to say, I'm enjoying that lb realises that if you reject someone very often, they move on and don't just stick around in case you change your mind. That cn realises how creepy it is when someone is constantly inappropriately flirting with you and how weird it is to be in love with someone, even though you don't even know what they look like. That Adrien realises that he should have noticed Mari sooner. And that Mari realises that she didn't love Adrien, she was just obsessed with the idea of Adrien.
I never expected to say this, but well done miraculous producers.
People have been calling Marinette out for years
Mari does love Adrien tho. She still does. She’s just trying to ignore those feelings after what happened with luka, she feels like she can’t be with a civilian, so she’s projecting her feelings onto chat noir. I believe she does like chat but she 100% loves Adrien.

I disagree that Ladybug rejected Cat Noir "too often". No one has to accept advances from someone they don't reciprocate those feelings with. 100% agree with the rest, though.
@@starsiadraws oh what I meant was that after all her rejection, cn got the hint and moved on. And he didn't wait for her to change her feelings and he didn't stick around to be treated like a plan B.

Andre seems really creepy to me. The way he gets pissy about the love lives of teenagers is unsettling.
I used to think that adrien liked being cat noir so he didn't have to deal with all the downsides of being a model, but that scene in the alleyway makes me feel bad for him. He doesn't get a break in or out of the costume and what's worse id that you never see LB getting swarmed by people when trying to detransform.

Everything that happened at the beginning of the episode was premeditated, Marinete keeps telling Cat Noir that she's his biggest fan, and during the beginning of this episode he was chased and surrounded by fans from his both sides, and in previous episodes, he shows fear of what people can do with his digital model of the alliance, so his reaction to the kiss and the justification being that Marinete is a fan has a lot to do with everything he went through, and what he says later about confusing admiration with love is also consistent with everything he's seen his fans do, he wants Marinete but all she says is that she is his fan and that makes him worried and his bad memories involving fans don't help, not to mention the danger she'd be in being with a superhero and the fact that she doesn't know who he is and from his perspective doesn't know him well because he's never seen her much as Cat Noir and doesn't know she's Ladybug.
Yup and that's why he refused to be with Marinette. Because of the power dynamic between a superhero and a civilian.
Of course this would ALL be avoided if they knew each others identities, but of course, they can't do that until Monarch is defeated.
But that's what makes angst so good!
The only love square ship that could REALLY work at this point in time is Adrien and Marinette. Because they'd both run off to save the day whenever a villain would appear, avoiding any random ghosting situations that could occur like in Lukanette and Adrigami. Ladybug and Cat Noir can't work because they'd babble their secret identities. And clearly Marichat can't work because of all this power dynamic angst and misunderstandings from both sides (Marinette is projecting her feelings for Adrien onto Cat Noir since she can't be with a civilian, and same for Adrien except he just noticed Marinette and moved on from Ladybug. Also he thinks shes a regular civilian but of course, she knows him quite well as Ladybug).
The love square is hillarious. They are in middle school, so I can excuse most of the cringe 🤣. Not all of it, but being the oldest sibling of many teenagers, the cringe romance in this episode was pretty realistic. Sad but true.

The difference between tikki and plagg is that plagg actually supports Adrien pursuing the other miraculous holder.

I love how marinette and cat noir can be goofy together. With the mask its usually just cat noir holding up the goofy, and without cat noir, marinette just does her whole clutzy silly face fiasco. So when they did that cringy wave thing on the balcony I knew how perfect they were for each other. They bring out the best in them.

I find it funny the Chat Noir doesn’t want his celebrity/hero status to manipulate a fan even though as Adrien he still is a celebrity which Mari has admitted to also being his fan- 💀
yeah but its like adrien as cat noir doesn’t know that marinette actually knows him enough to like him, he actually believes thats shes just a super fan and we can clearly see how fed up he is with fans obsessing over him in this episode, so he feels like hes just taking advantage of her just idolizing cat noir and not actually liking the person underneath

You know, i gotta say i think Ladybug's creeping on Cat noir was actually worse then Cat Noir. He always maintained a respectful distance and while He flirted a lot and asked her out a lot, and often went in for a kiss... a lot. He never actually touched Her and Ladybug often flirted back or played along. Ladybug though... She kisses him a whole bunch of times and tries to go in for more and She directly comments on His physical appearance several times and Cat Noir just Ignores it entirely. This is after She's rejected Him for 4 seasons too. It reeks of a lack of self awareness. I doubted She would stay like this for too long of course, can't have Ladybug with an outstanding flaw for too long, but it's kind of Annoying that Cat Noir was allowed to do this for 4 season straight with no real growth, as if Men are mentally slow or something and can't take a hit after the first 3 times.
Yeah, Ladybug going after Cat Noir like this seems kinda worse than when it was the reverse. He would be annoying and distracting, but he was also be a hopeless romantic. Flowers, compliments on both physical and personal traits, being there as a friend. He pushed a bit, but a quick word and discussion would normally set him right. Especially since he often got some kind of consequence for going too far sometimes, even if it’s over exaggerated for entertainment effect.
With Ladybug though, it just comes across as creepy. I think it doesn’t help that early Marinette was very creepy in the way she crushed on Adrien, and some of that leaks into Ladybug now. It’s hard for me to cheer for Mari/LB right now because she really did just transfer her obsessive feelings from one person to another.
CN also has the backstory of being Adrien, who is bad at social cues and is trying to learn the best he can. But Mari doesn’t really have that excuse, as she could get solid advice from her parents or something.
It’s almost like they wanted to explore that hero/civilian relationship dynamic, but stuck with CN and Mari because he’s a guy with the status. Which makes the audience more alert to this power dynamic as it’s more common and often (for good or bad) overly scrutinized.

What I hate about this season is that Marinette is still giving out the charms to keep people from being akumatized, even though she gave one to "Gabriel" like last season yet he still got akumatized in this season. Like, maybe realize it may not be as effective as you think Marinette.
Also I fully agree on the Marinette should have been akumatized plot line this episode could have had. There's been multiple episodes where she's incredibly depressed which is the prime example of when she should or could be akumatized yet Gabriel just ignores it. Like the episode where she wanted to give up being Ladybug and hand herself over to him. But no, the rejection of Chat Noir in this episode is enough to get her to almost be akumatized. It just doesn't make sense.
This is legit my favorite review of this season yet. And i subsequently agree that Marinette being akumatized and subsequently saved by Alya and Adrien would have made a better finish to the episode then what actually happened in the episode. i used to think Andre the ice cream man was mostly harmless and wasn't secretly slightly misogynistic and i personally preferred him like that.
While it would be awesome to have Marinetter akumatized and Scarabella back, wouldn't it be too obvious who Ladybug is if when this one girl gets akumatized someone else is doing Ladybug's role? I know Gabe is a smooth brain but c'mon!
@@banjiroxtr3237 while it would present a problem for her secret identity, she has fooled old smooth brain Gabe before. like in the episode where Alya borrowed the ladybug miraculous yet she was the one who partially solved the problem. Yet Gabriel doesn't think about the fact that Marinette leaving right as a new "Ladybug" hero shows up on the scene might not be a coincidence.

Honestly when Gabe didn't think to like- look for when ladybug and chatnoir would go to detransform when he had the chance instead of just trying to fight them when they have their powers, I officially realized he's p smooth brained

If it wasn't for the should-be-arrested fans and Andre being a toxic shipper, i would rate it 10/10. I usually hate romance focused episode, but this one made me scream
It was a really good review, I really enjoyed this episode. Just a tiny reminder: at 0:40, ladybug was not kissing cn without his consent. In this context, she was just giving him "la bise" (it's a way to greet your close friends in France by kissing each others' cheeks), she just exagerrated a little bit by giving him too many kisses, but it isn't considered as a kiss for expressing one's romantic feelings.

Like so far everyone else in this series has danced around the topic with him but the ice cream man just straight went and did what fans waited for so long.

Exactly! I've been reading this kind of fics for like 2 years now. Pretty sure I've seen thousands of Marichat fics where they hang out fall in love and make out. I've also seen fanfics where LB falls for Chat and he says he likes someone else and she cries. And also Adrienette fics where he falls for Mari but she keeps thinking of Chat. The Whole season is just fanfictions coming to live.

When Marinette snapped in the episode I felt that because, I've been there where people would choose and make decisions for me when I was younger and I still have a hard time making decisions now because of that. And there's a reason why Hot Dog Dan was in the wedding in the Jubilation dream as we saw in this episode.

The biggest crime of this show is everyone regarding Andre as this big sweetheart that everyone loves when he’s genuinely one of the most annoying characters. He’s caused nothing but problems whenever he’s in the story and is such a creep that cares way too much about the love lives of teenagers. I just can’t believe he’s this big lovable guy when all we ever see of him is disaster because the children he’s known for five minutes aren’t with the children he thinks they should be with.
THE POWER MARICHAT HOLDS. It was the first kiss in this show that both ppl remember and isn't from a dream or a what-if episode (we don't talk about pupeteer 2).
I hate andre so much. The first time he got akumitized, I know Marinette was a little rude to him, but he was so pushy in something that wasn't his business. The second and third time however annoy me so much
Andre gotta be one of the most.... randomly unhinged characters in this show. Imagine losing your shit and not serving your ice cream to someone, because they aren't currently on a date with the person you shipped them with. This man needs jesus 🤦🏿♂️

Not going to lie, the animation on Marinette shaking after being almost akumatized is actually amazingly done. You can see her shock and fear of almost falling under Gabriel's control.

I know this is the wrong episode, but I just realised: in Passion, Nathalie uses the power of the Goat to create a crossbow that can use miraculous powers. But in Penalteam, didn’t they say the goat can’t make things that are actually magic?

She has no idea what she’s passing up, I hope the writers make things write and finally get those two together. I still waiting for Adrain to tell Nino that he is Catnoir. In the episode rocktear, the scene right before Nino is akumizteds, was the perfect moment for Adrian to reveal his secret identity to Nino, but nope. I hope, I don’t have to wait for season eight for this to happened.

As a huge Marichat fan since S1. I’m glad they got to be their natural selfs and wasn’t expecting them to kiss. If this wasn’t a kid show they would have been hot & heavy on one another. I know in the fandom we see them as a sin ship but wasn’t expecting them to be a cute/fluff ship

I did like the episode and I do like your idea with Scarabella, but I'm ready for the romance plot to be put on the back for a few episodes.
I feel like we've had too many episodes focussing on the different ships between Marinette and Adrien and their hero personas, and not enough focus on the actual plot of the season. The hero team isn't any closer to getting the Miraculous back, they haven't looked into Felix since episode 2 at all, other characters haven't been relevant for the entire season (apart from Alya, Nino and Kagami). I do like that the season has even more of an overaching story then season 4, but I would like some more variety then just the romance stuff
Andre needs to be chased out of Paris. He's a complete and utter asshole! Not to mention how invested he is in teenagers' love life. The dude's a massive creep! Also, we stan Adrien/Chat Noir for having standards even though it ruined the moment of beauty 😭😭😭 Kwamis Choice is next! I'm so excited!!!

What if she used the supposed power of unmasking on monarch. Scarabella saves marionette and it’s a whole new plot line of hiding the secret from Adrian. She would have to renounce and admit but monarch does not know who scarabella is. Wouldn’t really be miraculous ladybug then. Don’t think I would be into it. Fun idea for a fan fic

"will a boy ever love me" Over the course of the series, Nino, Luka, Nathaniel, and Adrien/Cat Noir have all had feelings for Marinette and Adrien/Chat Noir and the sculptor guy have had feelings for Ladybug.

While watching I also thought about Marinette getting akumatized this episode and having Alya make a return as Scarabella. I got excited for a moment thinking the writers were actually going to go for it, but then when Andre ended being the one akumatized, I just shook my head. Andre is so toxic. It was a good episode otherwise.
They can’t akumatize marinette because if that happened she will eventually reveal her secret identity even if she didn’t have the earrings, also she knows who scarabelle is…

I'll admit it was good seeing CN getting a taste of his own medicine with LB 😂😂, I also feel bad for LB but that's karma for rejecting him too many times and yep CN he's oblivious have been reversed towards LB now.
To be honest I'm happy Marinette was shutting up Alya cause if you think about Alya always pushes her into uncomfortable positions when it comes to confessing to Adrien.

Honestly. I wouldn't be so surprised if he and Marinette became world class bakers in a new city away from Paris to set up shop and have their own retirement home after Marinette renounces being the guardian in favor of Alix, and he and Marinette retire from their superhero gigs because Adrien wouldn't be allow to truly be happy and together with each other as long as their Ladybug and Cat Noir and need to A) recover the miraculous of the butterfly and peacock after Felix and Lila become the next main co-antagonists of the show and B) to find another worthy successor of taking up the role as Guardian of the miraculous
If you think about it, Marinette’s soul reason as to why she renounces her love for Adrien is because she thinks that her love for him made her lose the Miraculous’. So in a sense, Chat Noir-while being the same person-is her rebound

Andre really lost many people in their eyes in this episode. Yeah she did sell ice cream to platonic friends before. Overal Andre really has some problem with Marinette XD She was the reason he was akumatized for the first time. Then in Glaciator he hated that she was hanging out with Chat noir so he got akumatized again. Then for the third time he noticed that Chat noir actually responses to Marinette's flirt in romantic way as well so he lost it XD I would say Andre is MariChat #1 hater XD He did gave his ice cream to just friends. At this point I think he just added another rule because it's MariChat and he is just hating it so he refuses and tries to cover with nonexistent ,,only lovers" rule.

The amount of people that I saw in comments having come back to miraculous after this episode probably stopping after season 3. Being so confused about what was going on ,and what on earth was happening with miraculous was so funny to me. Anyway time to talk about the episode it was good had some great moments and some funny moment too. Like I can ignore the animation, but one of the errors made me laugh you can see it if you pause at 9:19 in this video, his eyes will always make me laugh. They are great animation team, 10/10. Anyway this episode was good, and could make way for future episodes to come with Gabe going after Mari now. I would give it an 9/10 just because some of the moments are frustrating but other that were really good 🙂
Okay, now I'd love to see Eggman team up with Monarch. XD
