Please don't give up. I swear, this season is just like your christening and once you really get the swing of it, things will smooth out. I also really appreciate your transparency so that others will know the types of challenges, as well as adventures and beautiful places and people (and even some of the not so beautiful people) they can expect to encounter should they jump into mobile living AND I'm sure it's great for others who are doing the same to see you and know they're not alone.
So sorry all that happened, but you two continue to impress me as you sort out amazing solutions. The RV community will always come through for you as exhibited in todays's video. Well done and continued success.
Mela and Don, you guys are real troopers. We have been on the road for 2 years also and I worry about major issues every day. You have a special bus being a coach bus it is low to the ground with a giant diesel engine. Our hearts were hurting watching you fix one issue to only have another crop up. Our bus is only 31 feet and has a small 7.7 liter CAT engine, so far we have only had to change the water pump. Charging your mini split is really easy if you get a cheap vacuum pump and gauges from harbor freight and watch a few UA-cam videos. I’m sure your budget is tight after the last month. We will keep you in our thought and is we run into you on the road we would be happy to help you fix anything you might need. Next month can only be better, Michael and Susan
I just so much wish we could start up a line of hugs for you two. You have faced so much and are still here. I pray that your heart's are comforted and peace overwhelms your souls!
I did something similar about a year ago. I've had my rig since it was new (1996) so same vintage as your bus. Anyhow, had a long day and I was tired and two of our camping spots didn't work out so we were on the third. I was tired and like you Don, was watching a tree. Cut the corner too sharp by about 2 feet and rear wheels dropped off pavement into a ditch with culvert. Luckily, the leveling jack (fully retracted and located behind the rear axle) caught the road surface and kept the wheels from falling further. However, I had to call a heavy wrecker and they had to lift by the rear and set the rig back on the pavement. I was soooo lucky that the leveling jack caught the rig as there was no body damage. Only damage was my pride. I've driven this same rig for 28 years. You don't know how deflating this was as we take some tight roads in the forest and this was by far the worst mishap. You have to be ready to do mechanical work if you can. I replaced a failed turbocharger in a DOT lot on the side of the road (they were paving the interstate). That was fun. Safe travels and just remember....It'll buff out!
Well, I say "Praise God" for His blessings that things turned out great for you. Check off just a bit more that are now fixed so you most likely won't have to deal with that again soon. Pizzicato and Mr Sweet Face loved the microwave box and most kitties would!! Thank you again for a good video. ....Russell D.
Prayers for your future traveling adventures 🙏❣️ And I purchased the new song and absolutely love love love it❤😊 I just put 26k into my Peterbilt and Trailer, so I know how you feel. And I have 40 Years of driving big rig and I've had some bumps and tangles in my day. It happens and it's going to happen, it's how we handle it that matters. One more thing, I have the same microwave and it has 300k miles of road jars. It's a great unit. Happy travels to you both ❤
Love your videos. Wondering if you have had the opportunity to visit your folks where the bus build took place? Your Dad was so helpful during those years. Amazing how the Jeep crowd got the rock out & saved you $1,300.00 in towing. Kudos to them! Excellent spot with breath taking views. Y'all are living life to the fullest. May God continue to bless you. Happy trails!
When you mentioned that you have low oil pressure, led me to believe that you possibly have a leaking oil pressure sensor (sending unit). Just follow the leaking oil stream if you have enough room, the oil sending unit is probably located near the oil filter assembly, easy fix if accessible. Good luck and keep us posted. 5:06
You have had a very tough time with the bus problems. and then to get stuck on that rock was bad. But at least you didn't damage the fuel tank. I really hope that this is the last bit of bus problems for you, that drive with oil leaking must have been nerve wracking for you. but yes the scenery was superb, we have to look for the good things around us when we are having problems. very best wishes for you both.
Im so very sorry about all this shit breaking .... THIS TO SHALL PASS.... MY PRAYERS ARE WITH U GUYS .. GOD BLESS YA'LL. HUGS N LOVE ALWAYS FROM YOUR FRIEND IN MICHIGAN TAM 💓 💗 🐈⬛🐈⬛
I’m sure if you were observant while shopping for your bus that area forward of the rear axle is often damaged. It’s so easy to do. Seems like every fleet MCI or Prevost I looked at had damage there. Even the professionals are hitting stuff. Hang in there. Anything that can be made can be mended.
Everyone has accidents n we learn n grow from them, if someone should not be so kind in the comment section it's just their mistakes of judging without the experience or just worded wrongly since it's a comment. Anyways I'm so glad everyone was ok n sometimes God puts people in the right places at the right time.
Just keep swimming..Just keep swimming..Just keep swimming..Just keep swimming. Mistakes. I will never tell about the electric pedestal that , on its own, moved under my camper while I was so carefully backing into our spot. The ranger was quite rude, and blamed me for his post inappropriate action. 😏
When I saw how much was leaking and where the spot on the ground was, I knew exactly what the problem was! I had that EXACT oil leak from my MCI! Haha! Its a BIG job pulling the turbo, draining (and capturing) 20 gallons of coolant all to unbolt the oil cooler and replace a dumb $5 rubber o-ring! Just a heads up, use your VIN or engine number and order the correct turbo oil drain tube and gasket! That tube is crazy chinsey and will crack and leak next! Its a much easier job though one you have the correct tube! What you guys are doing is NOT for the faint of heart! Trusting a nearly 30 year old bus to get you out into the wilderness and back! Driving a 25,000 bus through uneven dirt roads! I would imagine this is exactly what it looks like to do that stuff! Its not all just instagram pictures! I tip my cap! Stay level. Stay even! Rock on!
You made the jeepers whole week. That's the two missions. Run over things or pull heavy stuff. They will be talking about that for a few good months. 😁
Hey. Defecation occurs. A good drink, a few days relaxation and recovery, order parts and on to the next. Thank you sharing the wild ups and downs that we ALL have in our day to day lives. Y'all stay safe and continue to enjoy life.
Mela and Don Me and my wife did the same thing you two are doing. The breakdowns just kept on coming. We would get one thing fixed and another would pop up. The repairs cost so much money it drained our money. The things that were supposed to bring us happiness went away after 4 years. You can get one thing fixed and go another 1000 miles worrying what was next. The STRESS and anxiety was too much to bear. exhaustion played into every event and mile we drove. After the 3rd year I did not know what was next. We were not having our dream come true but a hidden nightmare. Diesel mechanics are few and far between. And as you well know by now it is going to be thousands of dollars. We just could not bear the strain anymore. Buying a used Prevost, we thought was great for us but after 5 yrs. of stress that never went away. It was all over for us. Unless you have a endless supply of money and nerves you might survive. Your videos are great, but you know there is so much worry than what you are filming and showing I know this because me and my wife lived it. Maybe if I was not in my 50s I could of handled it better but I have my doubts. Good luck in your journey. I have been where you are going.
May God bless you. Keep persevering; just keep going. Thanks for sharing the good and bad. So helpful for others of us who have struggles. We are not alone. You are seen and appreciated
everyone makes mistakes guys, none of us is infalible, only material things got damaged, the hardest part is riding the storm & you two are a force to be reckoned with, best you both.. xx
Awe, my heart goes out to you both. ❤ What a rough time you have been having. I can't even imagine how you feel after all those challenges. Sending peacefull energy your way. 👐❤👐
Who hasn’t wanted a do over? You both handled it with composure and grace. And those Jeep guys! Just fantastic!! It’s been a lot of fun, we know….sending love and a hug!
Just Remember, You dont have a $3000 per month house payment. One can repair alot on a bus for $36000 per year. Also house break down as well, They need new water heaters, new microwave, freon added to the A/C. I know its frusterating but keep your head up and enjoy the journey. The good and the bad are all pert of it and make us great. Have a great time, wished you would have hit us up while in Utah, wed love to have seen you. Ivan and Sylvie have stopped in a few times, love to see fellow bus nuts and hope we can enjoy the road soon, dumb jobs!
Being a trucker, I know 1st hand about being tired from driving but can not stop. From your video, I can tell you were in the Colorado mountains, and there aren't very many places to stop there. So with that being said, DO NOT let this little setback deter you from your dreams. You did something I myself have been doing research on, only I want to convert a 53' trailer. Keep your heads and spirits up, and put your journey in God's hands. The guys who came to move the rock from under your bus was no coincidence. Mela....Don't give up, things happen for a reason, and the things that have happened to you, helped to teach you both. Keep the wheels rollin'.
You have had what life throws at everyone its not about the problems it about how you can handle it .We all have bad days and strugles. The money it takes to repair commercial type rigs is expensive a way to over come that bill is to increase your skill set .when I started as a mechanic it was because im poor and not able to pay someone else .I do agree about the mess it makes to fix things that you have to do what you have to do. .KEEP PUSHING FORWARD IS ALL YOU CAN DO DON'T EVER QUIT.STOP AND TAKE A BREAK THEN CHARGE AHEAD!!!!!!!! That stinks!! Hate to hear about all the problems. Also have a problem, who do you have your insurance through. Super hard to find insurance for a self conversion. Thanks

hey guys! Listen, $#!7 happens when you're driving around in these giant metal boxes. Things don't always go according to plan... That's just the nature of the beast. Anyone that hassles you over mistakes needs to look in the mirror, they're not perfect either. I'm happy you guys got it all sorted out and yes, guaranteed those folks with the jeeps helping you guys out had a blast. That's the kind of thing they love to do! Granted, mine is nearly identical to yours, it's not a wrangler, it's a Cherokee Trailhawk. :) Anyway, glad ya got things sorted! Have a great time out there! :) Cheers! o7

Even the best drivers can have bad days. You two are amazing in how you recover from the obstacles that you face.
Shit happens. I have been there. Don’t beat your self over it.
Jeep ppl are always willing to winch anything LOL
Never be ashamed of being human; that's why they call it an accident.

Traveling in an RV is expensive, only way to not have bus problems is to buy new...cheaper to fix used....Enjoy your unique life.
Wow! What a yucky few days. So sorry that was going on.
But wowza!!!!! What a gorgeous voice. Such a beautiful song. Love it.

Now you need to buy a real jeep ;-) heheheheheh
Just cosmetic, enjoy the extremely beautiful place you are in

Hey, I love you guys, I’m glad your problems are all solve with your Bus. I have watched you both from the Beginning of your You Tube on the air, I used owned a Dodge pickup, and I built a Camper and I did complete installation.
Your exhausted, but this video showing a great mechanic and wonderful people who helped you (angels!) left me feeling warm and fuzzy. Ride on!!
:) Cheers! o7
Things could have been a lot worse. It’s good that the rock damage was only cosmetic and did not sever any electrical wires or punch a hole in that diesel tank. It’s also good that some good folks arrived to help you out just when you needed it. Have you guys considered doing a Route 66 trip. That’d be good for about a 100 videos since there is so much to see and do on that road. There’s a bunch of UA-cam channels doing Route 66 but I’d love to see the Rehabit-8 version of it.
Glad almost everything turned out well. From my 35ish years driving a semi, Please don't drive tired. Doing so is almost as dangerous as dui. Find your limits (everybody's are different) & stay within them. Happy trails!😊
Sometimes things work out for best, even when it looks the darkest……….
Your Angels came thru for you!!
I finally made time to sit down and watch this! I know this video was released a day ago but it felt like forever to view it! Man! I was on an emotional roller coaster watching this wondering "what next?!" I'm so happy you received some help! Yes, they were angles! I will continue to pray that you get through all of this and get back into what you both are meant to do! 😊👍
Man that sux! At least not serious damaged other than a little dent in your pride! That'll buff out and of course metal can be beaten back into shape too.
You guys are awesome, keep up a high spirit, love your videos, been following you since the beginning of you guys building your bus.
Omg I think my anxiety would make me want to quit bus life right now. Kudos to y'all and many blessings and prayers that nothing else happens.
Hi Mela and Don. I am so sorry you have had so many problems with the bus one after the other . Let's hope you don't have any more. You are both in my prayers . Also things will be plain sailing from now on for awhile at least. Good luck to you both.
save your self some time and make a list . number the boxes - list on the lid in sharpy tells the contents , number list tells you what box you want . put less used boxes in first =]
