    I fixed the link for the replacement cutters.
    A viewer told me that the link was not working, but somehow UA-cam was not allowing me to respond to that individual so I am posting this here in the hopes that he sees it.

    Ganzo makes some quality knives so I'll be picking this MT up soon.I like that it is made from 440C steel and not 420 steel like most of the other MT's out there.

    • @cekpi7
      @cekpi7 5 років тому +1

      @Harry Daniels No, 440c is harder and more wear resistant. It is a bit harder to sharpen it but it also takes longer to make it dull.

    Gerber also have those lock actuators on some of their multi-tools and I like them. Gerber is the only company I know other than Ganzo company which have that feature on their multi-tool.

    Hi Jake!
    Oh this is interesting! I'm using almost daily a Leatherman multitool and I love it. Dont plan to change anytime soon. But whenever I want to offer a multitool as a gift to get someone into the MTs (which are formidable tools), I'm stuck. Full size/full features Leatherman are pricy as you know and their "budget line"... Well I'm not convinced by them (Wingman, Sidekick and Rev are still pricy for what you get).
    Now, I can find a serious model without compromise that is around 30 Euros with spring loaded pliers, bit adaptor, replaceable cutters, scissors AND saw!
    First time commenting, but I watched many of your vids already and I want to thank you for the good reviews and your overall quality standards! Nice channel.
    Camille

      Thanks for the comment Camille, I appreciate it. Yes I also have the 301H which seems to be identical to the 302H except for the replaceable cutters on the pliers. I had ordered it in March and had given up on it. GearBest acknowledged that it was lost in the mail and had given me a credit for the order and then yesterday it showed up in the mail. So it may be a good option if you find that it costs a lot less than the 302H. I still have not gotten word on how or where to get replacement cutters for the 302H so its only a good thing if I can find replacements. If I do find where to get the replacement cutters I will put a link in this video's description and I will put an annotation inside the video itself.

    The little V You called that is beside the lanyard hole is a glass breaker. Looking forward in buying one. I used leatherman, Gerber and victorinox for years and I have a lot of feedback that ganzo is good. I have one ganzo but its marked "Harley Davidson".

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  6 років тому

      Thanks for the comment.
      I just took mine out to take a close look at that. The piece with the hole pivots freely, it doesn't lock, and it would be tremendously difficult to get anything but the round steel (around the hole) to touch any glass that one was trying to strike. So it really makes no sense to me that it could possibly be a glass breaker. When you get yours you will see what I mean.
      Ganzo is very good for the budget consumer. I don't think their multi-tools are the same level of quality as Leatherman but they are very good. I especially like the fact that I can easily replace the cutters on the pliers.

    • @survivalofthefittest409
      @survivalofthefittest409 6 років тому

      Its not a glass breaker LOL. Its simply a notch meant for your finger nail to grab and pull the lanyard loop out with. Nothing more.

  • @Landrew0
    @Landrew0 6 років тому +2

    The v-notch by the lanyard hole is a wire stripper. It may need to be sharpened before it's to be used.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge

      Yes, I have no idea why I didn't figure that out before.

    • @bilakos1987

      It is not a wire stripper. It is a nail-catch so you can open it. Like a nail-nick.

      +Canadian Cutting Edge I don't know if I'll ever get up that way, I've been trying to get Nova Scotia for almost 30years. lol. does the Canadian Border people also check to see if it they can flick open visitors from another country's knives?

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  8 років тому

      I have never had them do so but they have every right to try. So I just make sure that any knives I am taking in to the country that I tighten the pivot screw a bit extra so that I can still deploy the blade but it won't be able to open by flicking.

    Uuugh, ordered 1 and 1 set replacement cutters. They will ship after the chinese newyear holidays.
    Curious to compare it with my other Multi-Tools.
    After a - Wave - and a - Charge TTi - had to go (mainreason was, standard-bits do not fit) ,
    there are GERBER - Flik - and - MP600 Military version -,
    a SWISSTOOL(since 2000) and a LM - WingMan - " in stock " ;-)
    Only the MP600 has those replaceable cutterblades, but all tools are inside and no scissors.
    Therefore at the moment the FLIK in exchange with the LM is/ are EDC.
    I guess this GANZO will get my preferred EDC, because it has all i need/ want (except the "throwout-pliers ").
    Must open a channel here, to show a comparison. :-D

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  8 років тому

      Unfortunately I don't have any of the more expensive multi-tools to compare them to. When my disability started, before any of my benefits began (a process that took over 4 years and many appeals) I had to sell off my entire collection, so that I would have $ for the main necessities of life.
      I would like to do a comparison but Gerber and Swisstool and etc are too expensive and they won't even sell any products to me at a discount whereas Ganzo are inexpensive and Ganzo will even send a number of items to me every year for free to review.
      I am very glad that they did make this particular model because replaceable cutters on the pliers is quite important to me.

    my dad had a few leathermans way back when and dropped one in a lake and one is beat up. perhaps I'll gift him this to replace to go with a ganzo knife.
    also, I'm fairly new to knife game, maybe 3 years or so. I'm definitely no expert but considering putting out some videos of knives I have on a different channel. I'm wondering when you make these videos, do you send them to ganzo to see? because it would be awesome to "get" products to honestly review. did you ask on account you'd put a video out, or they found you? I understand if you can't disclose that, keep it up

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  8 років тому +1

      I definitely don't call myself an expert, and I don't want people to see me as one, I am just a guy who really like budget / high-quality knives, especially folders, and like to talk about them.
      I had a deal going with Schrade to get knives from them to review, but then the first pkg from them got turned around by CBSA (Have I ever said how much I dislike those guys?) and then they sold the brand last week to Smith and Wesson so there goes that opportunity to "get" knives. I do get the occasional knife from the Ganzo factory so that helps my budget a bit. (I don't get an awful lot of income on my disability pension.)

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  8 років тому

      WOW, a lot of guys say that the scissor is an important part of their multi-tool. I use a scissor only occasionally myself, I prefer to just keep the knife edge very sharp and use that to cut things instead of turning to a scissor too.

      Thanks for the reminder Luc. It is easy to loose focus for a split second and end up in that kind of problem.
      The knife doesn't care who or what it cuts, it just wants to cut at every chance it is given. Again, thanks for the reminder to be diligent, especially when making a video the brain is focused on doing a good video and it is easy to do something stupid that one would not normally do - which is what I did right there.

    Hey Jake, have you ever ordered knives from a seller called EXDUCT (www.exduct.com/index.php) ? They carry the major Chinese knives companies (Ganzo, Enlan, sanrenmu, Navy, and more ) and ship for free. I'm just curious.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  8 років тому

      Yes, I have purchased just a bit from eXduct. They are just a bit higher priced than GearBest and FastTech for most stuff, and their selection isn't as good for most brands, but I check there on occasion because they may have a knife that I cannot find elsewhere. I even bought the knife that has their brand name on it. I will review what probably in September because my list of reviews that I want to do is just full until then. It was the only place I found that has a 3 pin pivot tool for Enlan knives, way overpriced, but I got one - link here:

      I only ordered from them that one time. Other than that I don't have much of an opinion.

    Leatherman multi tools are the best. Why settle for less.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  6 років тому +6

      I don't call it settling. I call it buying what I can afford. This is a budget channel, you will find that the majority of the items reviewed here are budget versions and so rarely will you find the best of any particular category, but what you will find is options that are good quality at a low price - generally speaking.

    • @harrydaniels7423

      Canadian Cutting Edge - Wish I could get multi tools for free. I have to buy mine. Must be nice getting free stuff. The last multi tool i purchased was the new Leatherman charge tti plus and I paid $170.00 for it. Your lucky you get your multi tools for free. I am not that lucky, I guess.

  • @harrydaniels7423
    @harrydaniels7423 7 років тому

    Hey Jake, yeah sorry I came off like a jerk. I am not. It's just that I have purchased cheap end, multi tools a few times and they just didn't hold up. But if your happy with what you have that's all that really matters. I see ya like knives like Kabar,that's a good brand. Have you ever tried Case of Kershaw or Buck. Those are some good quality knives. They just don't make products like they use to. What happened to the craftsmanship and long-lasting products. They don't make good radio's like they use to.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  7 років тому +4

      Oh yes, like I said, I have had well over 1000 knives in my life and some from EVERY major USA knife company and from most of the well known names from around the world. Many BUCKs, many Kershaws, Gerber (not too happy with them lately), SOG, Case, Boker Plus, Spyderco, Benchmade, Cold Steel, CRKT, Citadel, Coast, Colonial, Imperial, Schrade (before and after the brand went to Made in China, Condor, ESSE, Ontario Knife Company, Havalon, LionSteel, Zero Tolerance, Victorinox, Uncle Henry, Hinderer, etc etc etc
      There is constantly a change in quality. I don't believe in the "good old days" of qualtiy stuff. There has always been good stuff being made and always been garbage produced too. Like you said, some brand names stood for quality at one time and then that changed. Well, I suggest that it goes the other way too, there are companies (and contries) that used to produce only garbage but now they are making some things that are better.
      There is no longer any single brand to be trusted - each item needs to be evaluated on it's own merits.
      I bet, if we were face to face and were talking we would probably become friends in short order. The challenge of communicating via text online is that it is so easy to assume that the other person has a bad attitude... When face to face you can see body language and here intonation etc and communication works better that way. The internet is progress but not all of it is good progress.

  • @harrydaniels7423
    @harrydaniels7423 7 років тому +2

    Yeah I am sorry. And we probably would be friends. I am a nice guy. Just seems like companies are not making quality products anymore. They make it, till it down a assembly line in a fast pace and ship it out, just do they can make a quick buck. The quality control in some companies could use work. General electric use to make good radio's years ago not so much anymore not like they use to. Alot of American companies have moved over seas, so they could get cheaper labor and when that happens sometimes products suffer because of let's just say a change or a slip in quality.

    I own Leatherman (21) SOG (1) Gerber (3) it just saddens me when people but these kinds of products instead of buying something good and will last. It's just my honest opinion. I mean ya get what ya pay for. If ya want a good multi tool it's gonna cost ya a little more. Good products are not cheap.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  7 років тому +5

      I agree in general terms that you get what you pay for, but you also often get ripped off if you are not careful.
      Times are changing, there are some good products that are low cost these days. That wasn't true for MANY MANY years, and while I generally agree with you, i don't believe that it is an absolute. My main goal with this whole channel is to find (mostly knives) that are of a reasonable quality at a price that seems too good to be true. I don't claim that the items I recommend are THE BEST, but I do like to find items that are good quite a bit beyond their cost.
      I have owned well over 1000 knives from more brands than I could possibly recall (including from every major, and most minor, USA brands) and over 40 multi-tools in my lifetime, I do know something about quality.
      We all believe our opinion is right. VERY few people think they are wrong. That is completely normal. It is also normal and common for humans to dig in and defend their opinion instead of being open to new ideas. This is especially true online where we can't talk face to face and have a proper discussion. Therefore it's probably best to agree to disagree. I am sure that anyone reading this thread will understand the point you are making.

      Canadian Cutting Edge - Instead of buying those Ganzo multi tools, ya could save up your money and buy a good Leatherman multi tool. I am not racist. Just because I save my money and but good multi tools instead of Chinese junk. Wow, that's weird. Trust me I am on a budget also but I save my money until I can buy the multi tool or knife I like then I buy it. There's an old saying-Ya get what ya pay for.

      I have had several Leatherman multitools over the years and 4 various Ganzo multitools. Yes, the Leatherman is better, but I do still like and even use the Ganzo multitools more than my Leatherman. I actually sold my Leatherman. Have you USED one of these Ganzo multitools for more than a day or two?
      I can definitely see the value of buying good products once instead of poor products many times. I totally get that. I also know that for many products Made in China no longer means what it did even a decade ago. There is good stuff coming out of China. These Ganzo multitools are quite decent, they are not like the $10 multi-tools that are a complete waste of money, not even close.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  7 років тому +6

      I do EXACTLY what you suggest. I save my money and buy the multi-tool or knife that I like and then I buy it. Your advice is being followed. And for the record, I don't like useless garbage, I like good quality products at a value price & I also like great quality products as long as I can get it at a value price. There are not only 2 grades of products Good and Garbage. I see about a dozen levels of quality (regardless of price, that would be a discussion of value) You have "shit" and then garbage, and then useless ... ... ... good, better, great, ... ... all the way to Best. Just because, in your opinion the Leatherman is the best choice it doesn't follow that everything else is shit. This Ganzo G302-H is in the top 1/3, in my opinion. Your opinion may be different, and I am fine with that.
