All of the people who say "this is so stupid it's just a remake of titanic "should show some respect because those four men almost died to save 32 other men in a ship split in HALF and in freezing temperatures being soaked with ocean water crowded with other men on a small boat those men went through a lot and all of you ignorant people are getting mad because of an amazing trailer for and amazing movie showing the true events of a serious Coast Guard Rescue.So you people who think this is just a remake of the titanic you should probably watch the movie before you jump to conclusions.
Saw it on Sunday. Well worth seeing. Good performances all around, several great cameos. Once it gets rolling it's pretty fast paced and intense. Maybe don't see it before you go boating.
There were two tankers that were in trouble. About 20 miles apart. The Fort Mercer got off a mayday call before breaking in two. The Pendleton did not. So men were trapped on four pieces of the ships. The Pendleton was closer to shore and radar picked up its hulks. A seaplane was diverted to check it out and saw the name of the ship. It was then the Coast Guard realized they were dealing with two incidents. The ships were built during WW2 using poor metal and welds instead of rivets. That made this class of ships prone to breaking up during rough seas and cold weather. There were other losses at other times.
If you liked "The Perfect Storm" you'll love "The Finest Hours." Plain and simple. All through it I kept comparing it to the 2000 classic. Right up to around 90 minutes in I was giving this film an 8.5 out of 10, and the classic a 9.0. After the ending though I had to give "The Finest Hours" a 9.5. since it is hands down the best film ever produced in the maritime disaster genre, and a must see movie no natter what your favorite genre is. Perfect cast, great acting, awesome special effects, and very well-written and directed. Watch it. You won't be disappointed!
No one knows until the test, who it is will run into the burning building, or as here, sail through the storm... to find the lost in the dark by instinct alone... a very moving film of a true story; and a good trailer. Thanks for sharing
Fantastic movie and this trailer barely touched on the action and suspense in the lives of real people who confronted unimaginable events and took up the challenges. The big screen was the way to view this true story but it is worth the renting.
Ordinary people in extraordinary situations. i absolutely loved this movie. saw it twice in a row. Chris Pine is absolutely stunning.
