No matter how I said it, I knew it wouldn't be exactly right. But I hear people refer to it occasionally, and I always have to think a minute to translate what they're saying.
That sounds more like I’ve heard it. When you have that “nt” at the end of anything French, the T is usually silent and the N comes out kind of like a honk.
Yep. When I was a kid, we had family out in Church Point and the only way to get there without a bunch of detours was to take 90, or 51 and then up to 190. I can also remember when I-10 didn’t exist in Mississippi at all and you had to jump on 90 to get across the state.
I'm from St. Amant. Went back November 2021. Had to use GPS to get around it's changed so much. Our house is no longer there. A new one was built in its place when it was destroyed in 2016. It was good to watch your video but didn't recognize anything just the names.
Magnificent video 😊
Thanks
Yep, Sand Ah-mahnt is the local pronunciation. Usually Sand with no break as though the two words are one but sometimes someone will say Sant or Sann.

Appreciate the local context to your videos. Nice video. Liked the music too-I’ve actually used that first one in one of mine!
Such a wonderful scenery accompanied by very relaxing music. As always, it is so nice to be your passenger.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I remember as a kid, you had to get off I-10 at Sorrento because it wasn't completed yet.

How’d I do with the pronunciation of St. Amant?
