One critical thing i forgot to mention is that the LPAY/MPAY/SPAY Distributions are given out in USD , not CAD. This is why the Yield % does not add up. The ETFs however are Traded (Bought and Sold) in CAD.
Adrian, thanks for the video and clarification, but does that mean that if I buy regular MPAY (not .U) with Canadian dollars, I am payed in $USD with distributions and accumulate $USD in a $USD account? Even though the MPAY ETF is bought and sold in $CAD
Hey Adrian. Just a small slip on your part. You said that there is no 15% Withholding Tax on US Listed funds in both the RRSP and TFSA at 3:20. That benefit only applies to the RRSP, not the TFSA, which is why many people (including yourself i believe) hold their US Listed funds in their RRSP. No worries my friend. You make so much content, a small slip like this is perfectly normal. P.S. I wonder if this comment will make it through? Who knows? YT bots really seem to hate me...sad. I keep commenting though cause i love the channel.
@@PassiveIncomeInvesting Woops. You're right Adrian. My bad. You specifically said "Canadian Listed". I heard , "you don't have to pay 15% Withholding Tax in your TFSA and RRSP." That's my mistake. Apologies. I should know by now that the likelihood of you making a simple slip like that is very low.
Nice comparison video with all the bond ETFs out there. I am also a yield first investor, so l went with HPYT as well. Trust the management and no need to overthink. thanks Adrian!
Bro just love it :). Thank you so much for providing insight. I am really looking forward for all of them to become Fractional buys on the WS. Which makes it much easier to buy in an automated form. Thank you Adriano :)
Great video Adriano, much appreciated. The shorter duration products are very interesting as you can just park cash and earn not too bad returns. I was in LQDW but performance has been subpar even with decent call premiums. I am not sure why, if you have any ideas I would love to hear it. Anyways, thank you and please keep the videos coming.
I went with HPYT as well. Obviously yield a factor but also Harvest seems to be able to hold their distributions steady. I can’t recall them making a cut, but we will see. Looked hard at LPAY, MPAY and SPAY but really don’t like getting distributions in USD. Predicting where the exchange rate is going to go is impossible. Don’t know why they don’t put a hedge on the distribution amounts. Great video!
Will the yeild on HPYT/HBND be considered "safer and more sustainable" compared to a HYLD/HDIV or a USCL?...if yes, then these deserve spot as core position!thought?!
good question but its hard to say. The underlying assets are considered safer , but check out TLT. it can some volatility also if rates rise sharply . yield can go up and down based on volatility.
The long-term bond etf are very volatile(like TLT), so if they go down, HPYT/HBND will also drop significantly and will take more time to recover than the underlying(especially HPYT with covered calls on almost all of the underlying). Long-term bond ETFs are only considered safer when held for their average duration, so for TLT it's about 25 years, during which it will swing wildrly. As long as there's no long trackrecord/history, we can only speculate about the sustainability of the distributions. The YieldMaximizer (like HBND) have seen their yield cut down quickly after inception(look at HMAX and UMAX for example), in a bull market, so those yield are really not safe/guaranteed.
For SPAY, where does the 7.5% yield come from? It seems like it only paid once so far and was $0.125. I used $0.125*12=$1.5, then divided by my average cost of $27.27, and came out of 5.5%. My average cost is even on the low end of the price range of SPAY.
But the ticker in USD is SPAY.U. For Canadian dollar ones, we do get paid less then. Are MPAY and LPAY the same situation? How about the other ones in this video? Thanks for the quick reply!@@PassiveIncomeInvesting

I bought HYPT.
I also own LQDW and HYGW.
You’re almost at 70 thousand subscribers 🎉
I went with HBND for a bit more upside when interest rates drop - as they will.

that was a very good video. thoroughly reviewed Thank-you for that.
Glad you enjoyed it!

easy! interest rate hikes that's why :)
Not sure how MPAY could be a place to park cash. The price history of TLT has had significant swings . Even if it’s only 40% of mpay holdings
well it has SOME risk but the reward is more than worth it IMO. The income offsets the risk key words: IMO. SPAY is even safer
Very interesting new products to watch !

I'm a little bit concerned with the 100% calls though , not sure what to read this.
@@bernardsavard493 , well it's up to 100%. 😄
Been looking forward to this one
I bought HBND today because I did not want the 75% to 100% calls as the 50% calls on HBND will be able to capture more upside
I just started small position in HYPT.
Very nice video thank you Adrian 🙏🙏🙏🙏

HYLD is king. Overall. Nothing beats HYLD

moved to HPYT from HYGW . thanks

Seems like a convenient way to get exposed to bonds without buying bonds.
Thank You!
