Fun fact: The Flogger (Mig-23/27) landing gear desing was build this way to land on every terrain, even on a field with no runway, pure dirt, it was build like this I'm case if USSR invades the US on that hot time on the Cold War.
There is 0 declassified or even proven plans that USSR ever had a contingent plan of invading US. That is why they built nukes instead as an assured mutual destruction in case US invades. Prior to first Nuclear tests USSR conducted, USA made multiple plans of invasion of USSR involving going through most European nations surrounding the USSR. The only battle plans USSR made that are public or revealed now were the plans to invade West Germany, and that plan was made the moment China went buddy - buddy with USA. The reason they built complex wheel suspensions was because they believed US doctrine to be immediate securing of AIR supremacy by bombing enemy airfields in a Blitzkrieg-like action. These suspensions would allow the Soviet Union to land and deploy jets from a lot more locations around the USSR, meaning they would be dispersed and hard to bomb while on ground. The other major fact that USSR was not an offensively oriented military is a greater emphasis on GROUND-TO-AIR systems instead of AIR-TO-AIR. USSR jets trailed behind US jets solely because the funding went into the ground systems mostly. USSR had many advanced jet projects just like USA, but they never saw the light of day due to budget constraints. It's one thing to build an advanced jet, it is a whole other beast to serially produce it.

I feel the KH 25ML are still a better choice in most situations, since they fly faster you don't need to fly straight for as long as with LGBs. Also I think the R60ms are not a must, since you can mostly rely on an allied pantsir to take care of enemy air. Whenever I use the R60 they just flare it anyway

WP. I love guided bombs more than missiles but they take so long to use cuz of the positioning, speed, targeting. And they often can't fight back against spaa. I remember going against spaa, launching kh25, than doing spirals while keeping lock. With that you could somewhat fight back, but with the bombs you dont stand a chance.
In the end the bombs are infinetly more satisfying to watch on the tracker tv.

Hey I watched so many videos from you. Toptier looks eqay when you play it. But I would love to see more low-tier things like Avenger or He-112. my favorite CAS. Low tier CAS is for me just more satisfying 😅

Honestly surprised you didn't drop that bomb in the middle of the dogfight, since the MiG-27 is such a pig in anything that isn't a one turn fight. But you got out and got to use it to secure the win. Good on ya.
We CAS pilots love our bombs, it is a sad moment when we jettison them. I do that only when I feel it is very necessary. A plane without air to ground secondary armament in Ground RB worth nothing. Thanks :)

MiG27K is decent, I am a huge fan of the Kh-25MLs/Kh-29Ls just because they loft now they are a lot easier to use and the tracking seems to have improved on them, however it certainly has fallen off compared to all the NATO CAS there is no denying that.
Fr the new mirage 20005f has some Absolutely crazy thermals on it’s targeting pod. From 10km away I can clearly identify what I’m locked on in a second
I generally dislike how I have to make tradeoffs with Russian cas, while with u US for example every fighter and attacker can more or less carry full cas ordinance.
Yeah no thermals, also you can't shot Kh 29L on 13km, only on 10, probably its bug, like was on Kh 29T and AGM 65
I felt bad for that type 16 at 18:09. You could read his mind just based on how he was driving/acting. "What the F**K is lasing me?!"
I personally never used the laser guided bonbs a whole lot on the Mig-27 simole because i found them harder to use the. Western guided bombs and they struck me as less efficient than any if the missles or TV guided weapons
TV guided weapons are trash.. they locking anything other than vehicles and doesnt work at night
Yeah, TV and Laser GBUs in the Russian side can't be dropped at Mach 1 speed, that means they will not fall fast which also leads to staying for too long in the sky maintaining the laser lock.

Hello, the most satisfying experience to me is dropping GBU-8 from F-16, not the best choice for sure .. laser guided bombs with notching after a drop and some terrain masking is likely more effective and also so much fun. I couldn't do notching or flying perpendicularly after a drop with MiG-27k because the horizontal FOV of the TGP is very limited.

I been experiencing the laser lock bug , the laser on the mig27k will not lock and when it does it wiggles and goes all over the place , has this happened to you?
I tested out the other laser aircraft and they all work perfectly .
Sure, that's why I was only depending on the stabilized sight.

Yeah i noticed that the other day also and bug reported it - hadn't used the mig27k in a while as i was giving the new frogs a whirl so idk how long thats been going on but certainly wasn't happening last patch. Staff said its a known issue so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Congrats! Like any helicopter .. I like to go to the flank, use the terrain cover and start hunting, your radar is great to detect air targets so you won't get caught by surprise, carry Vikhr for tanks and Igla for air targets .. but Vikhr still doing good against air targets that don't maneuver so much.

would u personally consider the British tornado a good CAS? What's your favorite CAS plane?
IMO I would say the harrier gr7 is better for cats bc of the 4-6 lgb’s that it can carry plus the abundant amount of countermeasures

I love Tornado more than Harrier, it is up to personal preference .. I just like it because it is supersonic, it is not bad after adding PGM to it, the PGM on Tornado can be launched at Mach 1 speed (I don't know if it is a bug but I will take it lol), PGM became more fun specially after they fixed the TV missiles exploding in air bug. You also can do mixed loadout with the UK Tornado, 2x PGM + 2x Paveway which is great.

@@Hunter_i86 with the pgm releasing over mach 1 its not a bug the tornado gr series where built for low level supersonic attacks so they could drop and super sonic speeds. this happens with other bombs aswell that u can equip

Is the laser guidance bugged on the 27K? It no longer auto tracks targets and this isnt the first time its been broken after a new patch. Does anyone know?
Yeah it is bugged, you can't lock vehicles.
@Hunter_i86 thanks for clarifying, this is the second time in 3 or 4 patches that you can't lock vehicles with the 27K, and I always panic because I fear they will stop the 27k being so good 😅 keep up the great content hunter ❤️

What is your overall favorite nation to play when you are just trying to play for fun and not content?
hmmm I believe United States, Russia was a very near second if not equally the same but Gaijin just made USSR less fun in the very top tier experience over the years, you start the game and know that you are 80% will win, I love playing USSR at 10.0 or 9.7 where the iconic T-72s, Rooks and HINDs fight in battle .. in 12.0 I feel I love USA, Germany and UK because F-16, Abrams Tank and Tornados, and also I leave the battle almost every time Pantsir S1 on my side because I want to experience my NATO jets against the best Air Defense in the game, it is more thrilling than flying and Pantsir S1 on your side :)
@@Hunter_i86 Thank you, for the well thought out answer, I appreciate it! and I think I agree with US an germany being some of the more fun ones, Sweden is also up there though, Such interesting vehicles, setting up in an S tank in the right spot on the right map and you can easily get a nuke..not so good CAS though.

Mig27k has infinitely better targeting and access to additional weapons, those being laser guided bombs. Mig27m has the same targeting as su25, so when using laser guided ATGMs you need to point your nose towards the target at all times, on top of that you have none existent zoom so it is very difficult to spot SAMs and other stuff at long range. It is actually insane how easier mig27k is to use compared to mig27m and it's only 0.3 br higher.
M doesn't get the nose mount camera with high zoom. you mostly rely on TV weapons because they actually have more zoom than you do. with K you use a lot of laser guided ones because of the high zoom + tracker. M is a pain, K is the best that you can get in the ussr tree. It doesnt have thermals or mach1 launch, cool stuff, but it does the job.
Yeah Russian fixed wing cas certainly isn't pound for pound the best anymore, still absolutely awesome and can at least hang in a dogfight somewhat against many other cas aircraft and even some fighters, but the lack of thermals certainly does hamstring its ability compared to its contemporaries along with a relatively smaller number of heavy hardpoints available. Definitely gets carried by pantsir's especially with the amount of f16's, tomcats and mirage 2k's that are flying about now in ground.
