  • This animation shows a comparison between using two different turbulence models: Large Eddy Simulation (top) and K-Epsilon (bottom).
When air is passing through the bluff bodies with the shape "THINK", turbulent structures emerge (vortex shedding). The scalar used to represent these structures is the velocity magnitude.
While the unsteady RANS approach is not capable to resolve the "eddys", the LES approach deliver much more accurate results.

Судя по видео - отличная ранс модель. Еще б сравнить эту ранс с усредненным лес

I was expecting more marginal difference, good with urans

which one the more realistic? LES or URANS?

      Les

LES because you literally cut the vórtices you can resolve in a simulación with a filter that is defined by your mesh size.
With RANS you are avergaing, you aren't really watching any vortices.

More large Eddy turbulence is visible in the Sample Above 🙂
