I set my cameras around y ship as close as I can underneath as if they are mounted on the ship. Helps to get an idea of where your ship is and what angle etc.
Having used the Starlancer allot I agree its a very capable ship. I like that it can take 6 32 SCU containers on its grid and a few more if you don't mind a little wiggle which makes it quick to load and unload. However I don't love the belly cargo bay with the fact that they make it difficult to load both racks from one side, its not a deal breaker, if you use 32 size boxes you only got to grab two boxes and smaller boxes can be juggled over the catwalk but it feels I should not have to do this when its deployed and they have those rails that purposely block you which is silly. While slow its nimble and tanky enough to be a pretty safe ship to be in. I do wish it had more windows, it makes up for it with a nice interior but it has windows in odd spaces like on the ceiling of the rec room in narrow strips and the cargo bay. It will be interesting to see the TAC, a dedicated fury bay and 2 manned belly gunners with a med bay. that will end up being one full ship with 6 people with copilot/fury pilot. hopefully its got nice bunk beds.
Idk about the tac. They remove slot for the personal deployment pods. It will be a good ship if you have the man power to back it up. I am excited for the BLD THOUGH
Right! I’ve had so much fun with it. One of my mates even wants to melt his carrak for one! Also thanks for becoming a member! Check out the next two videos before anyone else gets a chance!
No. The wasted space concerning habs is not about cargo. Its because of the corridors that run around it. That makes navigating the ship longer. One central corridor would also be better because then the habs could also have windows looking at the outside.
@@FrancisFjordCupola but cig mentioned that a ship shouldn’t have to many windows for compression concerns, they mentioned this during citcon. So I’m not mad at their design decisions for the habs it’s a very minuscule flaw.
I think the "wasted" space is ok. There isn't much other stuff they could've put in without making it completely op. I already consider it almost without competition. I think people forget it isn't necessarily about what they could've all done with the ship, but about what would make sense. Probably the only reason why it has so much wasted space, is because it is built with multiple variants in mind.
I don't own one but I did rent it during IAE, and it was my favorite ship I tried out. Best all-round daily driver so far imo! I might upgrade my C1 to the Starlancer
I like a lot of things about the Starlancer max, but I also dislike a few such as the cockpit views and size of the dash seems very big compared to the other freelancer ships I've flown and it also seems a bit slow in scm,I'm also nto sure if they have fixed it but the double beds in the rooms seem weird and are just 2 single bed clipping together last I checked which I feel is kinda lazy, I still have one for now, but I have a ccu chain up to a base ironclad for it which I will likely apply when it releases.
I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH this is one of the least soloable ships in the game. if you want to look at a pyro planet at any point even with 1 turret get gunner you will be victimised by anything that moves
@@arsonmore8918 big facts I can’t wait for engineering to come online because all those people who bought Polaris’s and other big ships think that they can solo it or run it with one other crew member will get a rude awakening, especially with how gun happy people are in Pyro
This ship could be great but has too many issues for me. The weapons rack is still broken and just the one is inadequate, some questionable deaign choices (why two rear elevators?), a kitchen/rec area with no storage (it's effectively wasted space), the exterior button STILL doesnt work... Etc. Melted mine, but ill buy it back if CIG ever decides to give it any attention, as they havent since it was released.
@@picosuave5439 weapons rack isn’t broken. It’s only ment to hold S2 fire arms. P4 and galants. Nothing long form, no snipers or lmgs. And this ship is designed to a be fun ship for you and the homies to do what you want comfortably. The two elevators is for ease access. A ship shouldn’t always have more than one way in and out. I’m talking about the carrak/paladin/nomad/styles and more, bottlenecks. All exterior buttons worked just fine for me and friends who has one. Which is 6 people. And you shouldn’t expect cig to give a ship attention right away for a vessel that’s already considered gold standard and only been flyable for 2 months. Give it time and enjoy it.
Yeah, I missed the December buy opportunity and now I’m not sure when it’ll be available again. I dislike the bridge viewing limitations of MISC ships, but I love everything else about this ship. So, I’m waiting on SC to let me throw my hard-earned money at them!
@@BFGDoc You've got a chance maybe at the Invictus (May) event this year, of course waiting for IAE again at the end of this year. Also I would expect them to have all variants of the Starlancer available as soon as they put out base building since they'll probably have the Starlancer BLD available at that time. These were all the events last year (2024) : January • Red Festival (Chinese New Year) February • Coramor (Valentine’s Day) March • Stella Fortuna (St Patrick’s Day) April • Triggerfish (April Fools’ Day) May • Invictus Launch Week (ILW) June • Alien Week July • Foundation Festival September • Pirate Week October • Citizen Con (late October 2024) • Day of the Vara (Halloween) November • International Aerospace Expo (Anniversary Sale) December • Luminalia (Christmas)
Man, I really wanted to like it. On paper, the amenities sound great. But the armoury is honestly worse than the Zeus', and its way smaller. The living room/ kitchen is just .... useless. No one will genuinely play billards in SC. The ship if for 4 people, why does it have a table and seat for four aand a bar for four? Who does the barkeeping at least? I doubt many people will actually cook, so it's all "just" RP space. Same with the habs. Why double beds? Is it for 8 crew now? Do they even work for 2 players to log out (never tested it or seen it tested)? More RP space. The crago grid in the back should be the whole thing, not just the sides. The walkway should (optionally) raise to make space for lager boxes. As you mentioned, this could easily hold maybe 600 SCU on grid, if the space as not wasted. I disagree that this is for crago haulers. This is just a huge ass "space RV", it is NOT a "truck". And I don't see why competing with the cat would be a bad thing. I disagree that this competes with the Carrack. Carrack is Exploration with cargo, with its better fuel tank, scanning (tbd), repair drones (tbd), and modularity (tbd). There is little competition in this class of hauler, let alones ones that "work" or are genuinely usable. Worse even, it is a MASSIVE target, and it has about the worst accelleration of any ship in the verse (probably onle the Reclaimer is worse). A fricking capital ship like HH or Polaris accelerates faster and feels more nimble. If you ever get jumped by anything more powerful than a Pulse, you are screwed. So I personally would not recommend it for Pyro in general, or any activity where you could expect high chances of unsolicitated PVP. On a positive note, I liked the review, and everyone who likes the ship has a valid opinion. If you like it, power to you! For me personally, it was a huge disappointment. The use of interior space and tuning just didn't do it for me. Unfortunately, this already teels me the TAC will also not be for me, and the BLD will not see too mcuh use once a abse is up and running, I'd rather rent one in game or ask another player.
I don't like the interior of this ship, it feels claustrophobic and utilitarian in all the bad ways for me and I generally love the utilitarian look. The recriational room feels empty, cold and boring, same with the habitational room and I agree about the wasted space. The "cat walk" cargo belly lift is kind of gimmicky. Maybe the TAC will have a better use of the internal space.
@@G1640. so the weapons wreck on the star Lancer is only designed for size 2 weapons mainly P4s galants. Not every ship could hold LMG’s and snipers sadly.
I wouldn't take the Starlancer to Pyro, not without a decent group. I've had zero issues popping them in a F7A. Pyro, without the reputation system, or SOMETHING just isn't a good place to go. I've pretty much given up trying to do missions, and just go around in a fighter paying it forward.
I’ve pretty much lived in Pyro with my star Lancer since it’s launch I’ve had no issues and the players that have come at me and attack me. I’m usually always able to fly away from them before they cause any real damage
Just wanted to add one more con: MFDs are almost useless in their current condition, You cant see any MFDs while flying, you have to free look to see your stats and info. Still the best ship in the verse at the current state of the game.
That hasn’t bothered me. I’m so used to making cinematic content that holding the Z button is second nature. And now that I got a TET5 it makes viewing it even easier. But I can understand why some folks don’t like to hold the Z button down
Too much wasted space in hab cabins. CIG could have fit 6 L shaped cabins with a central corridor with all cabins having windows. Could also fit 6 escape pods as there is so much wasted space in there as well. Similarly for suit lockers. Over it's okay and far from perfect.
@@EdmundRobinson no it’s fine for when it comes to a mid tier cargo ship now a ship that really waste space is definitely the Polaris huge empty hallways with nothing in them
Wasted space , missing cargo grids , hard to unload if you somehow managed to load max cargo and that is especially hard in the back , slow 115 speed , low visibility, stupid turrets placement and 2 elevator in the back where one is plenty. I think this covers my opinion on the Starlancer MAX.
@@unfalr loading this ship is super easy. I got a whole video on it. The rear can hold 96 scu or more if you decide to load off grid. Ship is a cargo haulers dream.
@@FriedChickin CIG needs to make small improvements and it can be haulers dream. Its hard to unload max out cargo from the sides and the low ceiling at the back is not helping whit the loading of bigger crates but in the end we are going to fill it to the MAX grids or no grids. Thanks for the reply.
@@unfalr so I told someone this before, but when it comes to loading the belly, you wanna throw the cargo into the further section in the back first then load towards the nose and it makes loading the belly area 100 times easier now for the rear loading. Anything past a 24 SCU crate can be a little but in most scenarios, you don’t even get the chance to even touch a 32
My main problem with the Starlancer is the wasted space. A big empty cockpit. There's no weapon rack in case the ship gets attacked. It's a floor below :( Unnecessarily large space for escape modules. The elevator section is OK. The common room is not used very well. And the kitchen is terribly run down. It looks more like a non-functional morgue than a kitchen. And then the living area is extremely unused and poorly made. Engineering area its ok. The rear cargo area is the best part of the ship. The ceiling could be higher. But what I don't understand at all, those two elevators? Why? Who would do that? That's a complete waste of cargo space. The cargo area in the middle of the ship, its ok. But then again why does the railing slide out there? And it prevents cargo from being loaded from both sides. Again extremely illogical. And the last part of the ship is the armory area. Again unused space. Why does the weapon holder only hold 4 medium weapons and no large ones? And there's an empty space in the middle.... The last part is just that the ship is very lazy. Top speed is okay.
U can upgrade your Ship to the Terrapin Medic Warbond (available) and buy an Upgrade for 10 bucks (on star-hangar, impound...) to the SL Max. Thats what i did with my Zeus and saved a lot of money
Awesome ship BUT there is NO speed making you a easy target but first you must overcome the claustrofobic letterbox view making you a prisoner. I melted mine.
@ so CIG stated that the galaxy won’t even touch us till probably after 1.0 but I’m going to expect the tac during Invictus. The production of the TAC is probably already near completion because they put it up for sale and not the BLD.
Is it a functional ship with a lot of utility? Yes! Is it perfect? Surely not! The upper floor is a disaster with too many elevators in the rear and a huge amount of wasted space. The recreation room itself is how someone with no design ability would waste usefully space because he/she doesn't knows what to do with it. I'm not bothered by the cockpit view as it's a commercial pilots given, but a too window is usefully in hangars, and the front console Is unnecessarily big and too far from the window. The radar that could be huge, is stuffed somewhere just because...
@@qutatron I usually keep the ship in qt mode to cover for that. I don’t get attacked in Stanton or pyro anymore since the honeymoon face wore off. It’s a small issue I’m willing to deal with.
why? the taurus has less cargo space? less hab space? smaller floor layout? cant store over 200 scu and a few vehicles? only thing the taurus got on it is hull hp, a view, and faster scm speeds, which is not much to begin with in difference
@@FriedChickin Tractor turret, faster, more durable, better armed, slimmer too.....basically better chance of getting out of a bad situation. Really, depends on what you are using it for. Completely unusable on e.g. Pyro. You have no chance to escape even at the risk. Hit back at that speed. It's only 5m/s faster than a block of Reclaimer This is useless.

I love this ship, good for anything and everything.
It looks like a sea turtle swimming through space
i thought it looked like those bouncing seals at first glance. then i said pinguin
I don't own one but I did rent it during IAE, and it was my favorite ship I tried out. Best all-round daily driver so far imo! I might upgrade my C1 to the Starlancer
@@TyrelBivens you just get so much bang for your buck with the SL I mean it’s a slow flyer but it compensates for everything else.

@FriedChickin honestly feels closer to the MC80 Mon Calamari Star Cruiser. It's just a big bumpy boy.

@@BFGDoc You've got a chance maybe at the Invictus (May) event this year, of course waiting for IAE again at the end of this year.
I see people saying that it’s too open and roomy? You must be talking about the rear upper hallways
only thing killing that ship is the weapon rack. i wanna make it my exploration vessel but i cant
@@G1640. so the weapons wreck on the star Lancer is only designed for size 2 weapons mainly P4s galants.
Only thing killing this ship for me is the letterbox windshield.
@@TheWasd1234 yup my only two gripes is the window and slow scm speeds.
If it wasn't slower than an Idris it would be one of the best ships
I can’t even talk about an idris till it’s actually spawnable from the hanger
@@EdmundRobinson no it’s fine for when it comes to a mid tier cargo ship now a ship that really waste space is definitely the Polaris huge empty hallways with nothing in them
They need to make vehicles snap to grids. I'm tired of seeing them bounce around.
@@btr003 they need to make placeable items snap. I want to deck out my ship but the game is wild
Anything past a 24 SCU crate can be a little but in most scenarios, you don’t even get the chance to even touch a 32
Hello mein Freind, is the Starlance Max the best Freighter of all the world?
Naaah I think the cat will hold that even more so when the doors actually work. But it is probably in the top 5 in the game
My main problem with the Starlancer is the wasted space. A big empty cockpit. There's no weapon rack in case the ship gets attacked.
It's a floor below :(
Unnecessarily large space for escape modules.
Want one but not for sale ATM. 😥

Taurus is better.
why? the taurus has less cargo space? less hab space? smaller floor layout? cant store over 200 scu and a few vehicles? only thing the taurus got on it is hull hp, a view, and faster scm speeds, which is not much to begin with in difference
It's only 5m/s faster than a block of Reclaimer
This is useless.
@@zsolttakacs4508 if your only looking at it based off its speed and pilot view then you are wrong. This is one of the most utilitarian ships in the game.
