    I just did this, one important step not covered in this video is this. Mark the timing marks on the old belt then take it off. Lay the new belt over the top of the old belt and transfer the marks to the new belt (count the valleys to double check). I found when I installed the new belt it was 1 tooth off at the cams. If I didn't mark the belt I wouldn't have known.
    To put the belt on correctly I rotated the cam forward 1 tooth, collected the belt in the correct position then moved it back to TDC.

      OMG you saved my life!
      I'm performing this maintenance at home (so I don't have a press to re-compress the tensioner). Months ago, I watched the video and read some comments, and today I remembered this exact tip (din't remember where I read it, but it literally costed me nothing).
      So I marked the new belt, and when installing it, if it wasn't me who marked it, I would've thought it was wrongly measured or something, needed a lot of tries to stretch it to the correct tooth alignment, specially on bank 1 camshaft, and it worked perfectly!
      Without this recommendation, my belt would have been wrongly installed

    Yessssssss, that was easy, brand new engine, no rust no dirt no greasy deposit, and most important out of car, on the table ready to dive, even my unborn child can finish the job, try to do the same with engine in the engine bay, then we will talk about the ease of the work.

      Art O Very solid point you just made, with the engine still in the vehicle there's so much disassembly required just to get to the belt. it's a whole other monster.

    • @g3o5d
      @g3o5d 2 роки тому

      @@tanvirina . . . I had my first change done at a dealer where I bought the vehicle. Certified by Mitsubishi. No problems at all wonderful job great service. Dealers no longer in business. Had to, " Search" for the next nearest certified Mitsubishi mechanic. Found one just a little over a hundred miles away and had my second belt changed at close to 200k miles. 3 months later, I have a water pump leak. The vehicle runs fine, but when they put the water pump, which was new also, they obviously didn't do something right. I'm leaking coolant and every day I have to top off the reservoir. Now of course, they'll have to pay to redo it but again, it's over a hundred miles away and I'll have to take a day off of work plus get a rental car again just to get they're incompetence repair. I can't just be there first thing in the morning and wait for it. They won't guarantee same day service/completion.

      Any jackass thinking that they're just tinkering with this no interference motor is not gonna just work on it they don't touch these if they don't know what they're doing clearly I didn't know the internal workings until I owned one if you can read you can achieve so someone who doesn't know shouldn't be telling you that they have the ability to internally do anything to your motor I don't understand where your perception is regarding someone working on these
