  • one of the biggest advantages for a skid steer over a tractor is having your front attachment clearly visible in front of you. although a tractor can be a do all its not always the best at it all. a good example of this comes to visibility over the hood on my Kubota m62. the best solution i have fond at this point is to have a camera mounted in front of the hood to look over and see the implement, bucket, or more importantly my pallet forks. although this is my entry into a camera to do this it's not a perfect solution and i plan on trying a few other cameras and screens to find a better option.

Great idea, it's always hard to see the quick release brackets on my M62 as I'm lining up to an attachment.

I've always thought a back up camera would work great while using implements that require constant eyes in the back of your head. Like pulling a box blade or hooking up a trailer hitch to a trailer.

I recently installed an AgCam kit (made by Dakota Micro) on my Kubota L4060. The system I chose has 2 cameras. I put one on the front and the other on the rear. I bought it on Amazon for a little over $2000. It has infrared capability for night vision. The system runs wires to power the cameras and to send the visual to the monitor. To mount the front camera, I made a tubular post which attaches to the pin bosses for the vertical link right behind the bucket. This way the camera is mounted high enough to look downwards on the front attachment and it follows the bucket angle for the bottom half of the lift range. I found this idea on a tractor blog by a man who used the moniker "waxman". His post is several years old. My version of the vertical post is a little different. With mine, I made the post as a telescoping tube with set screws (actually bolts) so the post can be removed when doing brush work with a grapple. If interested, I can send photos and provide a list of parts and where I got them.

maybe build a 2' high retaining wall/railroad tie set up for exchanging FEL implements, this way everything would be above the hood/line of sight?

yeah, that would not be a bad idea when you're at home only but out on a job when you have to do changes back and forth it doesn't help. when I'm done with my shop, I'm going to have everything up on shelves to keep it off the ground and make it easier to hook up to.
