- A college football star is being praised for his kindness off the field. A photo showing Florida State wide receiver Travis Rudolph eating lunch with Bo Paske -- who often sits by himself -- has become a social media sensation. Mark Strassmann went to Tallahassee to find out what brought the pair together.

I think hes just a good guy. Ive known guys like this, they just stand out. I dont think it has to do with how they were raised. Just some kids are born better than other kids. This kid has a bigger heart than most.
Travis Rudolph you are the man. This act of kindness is way more impressive that anything you could have done on the playing field. As a father and a grandfather it would be tremendously hard if I found out that any of my children were being ostracized. You have my utmost respect.

This definitely hits home. I would always feel embarrassed sitting alone at lunch so I started to eat my lunch in the bathroom stall. I know it must’ve felt great for him to have someone come sit with him. That’s awesome.

A Sens there's a reason why our schools are failing. All the teachers are too tied up in politics, teaching garbage about genders etc
I work at an elementary school. We have specific teachers for lunch. If I saw a kid sitting alone, I would definitely go over and talk to them and maybe even make it my duty to find them a friend, but that’s just me.
They’re getting paid to teach. Also many teachers just don’t want to risk being annoying or they don’t even go to the cafeteria
Growing as an autistic child, I had trouble making friends. And often at playtime I would be on the playground alone. When I was younger I used to be angry at the teachers for not doing anything but as I grew up, I learned to let it go. I'm not even sure how they could have helped me to be honest, if I sat inside during those times it only would have singled me out further and teachers aren't allowed to be alone with students 🤷🏼♀️

This immediately brought tears to my eyes remind me of when I was in the tenth grade and I walked in the lunchroom with my sister and 2 friends thinking where was we going to sit. I saw young ladies sitting by herself in the corner of a table. Immediately I told my sister and friends will sit next to her .. we went to the table and ask her if it ok if we sit with you? she looked up and said sure. As we got to know her and she got to us she was the funniest sweetest person you'll ever meet Michelle was her name. I always teach my children if you see someone by their self in school it's okay to talk to them it's okay to sit with them. Never bully someone/ make fun of them. And if the friends your hanging with decide to do it you make sure you put them in check do not condone to it lt, let the teachers know, report them.I teach my children to love all race/ everyone with disability. ❤💯

I truly appreciate that act of kindness I have a 14 year old with autism who sits on a bench alone every lunch. It makes me sad that no one will approach him and just sit with him. My heart goes out to every single person with any disabilities. You are amazing as I tell my son anyone would be so lucky to have a such a kind caring perosn for a friend.

I absolutely know how it feels to watch our kiddos be so loving and nobody takes out the time to get to know them. Thank God my daughter was always one year younger and grade level under him...she and lots of her friends always looked out for him🥰

School is a cruel place if you are different than everyone else. Im not autistic but I shared the same experience as that young fella. Lunch was always a lonely time for me.

I truly love this. Im Autistic and growing up, no one really... cared for me. No one bothered to sit with me or talk to me. Luckily it all changed when i met my life long friends. Im so glad this kid had someone there with him and willing to sit with him. This is what makes me proud to be Autistic. Showing people that we are human too. We have feelings too. One time when I was a freshman I was sitting alone, and this more popular senior sat next to me. When I became a senior and made more friends, I decided to do the same thing to this other freshman, kindness goes a long way
That kid sitting by himself "Everyday" is an indictment of the parenting of all the other kids parents. It doesn't surprise me that a football player, someone who has trained with others to work as a team felt the need to support this child and sit with him. Gotta love Travis Rudolph!

I’ve seen something similar to this at my highschool back in the day they get the kid all hyped up and they start to teach him things that aren’t good and the kid can’t handle it so people continue to distance there selves from him until he becomes old news. Then they would secretly make fun of him and just because he’s laughing and doesn’t understand Doesn’t make it right.

Nathan Bryant I went to montford. He was a mutual friend in my science class. He had a different lunch tho. From what people say now he moved to Georgia. He also tried out for the basketball team and didn’t make it.

It’s sad parents have to see their child go through school in which they get picked or teased. Most times they can’t do anything and I feel for his mother. No mother should have to go through that, I hope things change for the future
Yes they can, you can take them out of school and there is always on line schooling.

As someone who also has autism, this is very relatable. People hated being around me when I never did anything wrong. We are all humans, and we all deserve respect and happiness. For those of you who hate special needs people and avoid them at all costs, you should all be ashamed of yourselves. We are all people, and in most cases, some people can not control how they act. These problems we are born with do not define us as people. I was lucky that I was on the higher end of the spectrum and am able to function like a "normal" person.
You’re lucky. I have a 13 year old nephew, that will not to be able to function independently in society and will end up having to stay with his parents forever.

Feeling the mom’s pain literally. 💔 Sometimes kids just don’t understand when some seems a bit different but in truth we can all learn from each other. Praying that his friendships have grown today and that he is living a joyful life.
They are clearly elementary school children and children don't understand that type of stuff, they aren't mature enough to understand what this kid is going through. Children don't understand disabilities and differences so when someone is different they don't know what to say or do
