What Gilas Pilipinas head coach wants is first and foremost is DEFENSE. Rhenz Abando can do defense that's for sure and we can hype what Rhenz Abando is doing but when the reality of the game comes in against a powerhouse teams like Latvia, Georgia and Brazil that have more than one NBA players or much more skilled and athletic than Rhenz Abando are we sure he can defend against players whose level of competitiveness in FIBA tourneys or OQT's we can say that when they play they are demon like beasts, if you watched that OQT games in Latvia you'll see how this European players play and how Gilas Pilipinas plays against this European teams, even Kevin Quiambao and Carl Tamayo have a hard time playing the triangle offense, actually almost all of them are having a hard time it's just that the team chemistry is complementing more to compromise the triangle. Rhenz Abando is talented but the question is will he adapt the challenges in a triangle system or should we say can Rhenz Abando adapt to a triangle system and can he adapt to a position of #2 exclusively? And can he play defense like what Chris Newsome, Dwight Ramos or CJ Perez did? Rhenz Abando can jump alright but his defense is quite dull? Let's leave the decisions to Coach Tim Cone he has the mind, and what we achieved this last OQT is because of him, his system works and those 12 or 11 man roster did a lot even if they are underrated and undermanned they overachieved. I have no bad blood on Rhenz Abando but for me I would stick to that previous 12 men roster that competed in Latvia, and besides Dwight Ramos did quite well and in that FIBA OQT we are ranked top 1 in three point percentage.
