The memories i love thank u for this ...To all my USA friends have a happy July 4th :)From your neighbors here in Canada ...we love you
Advance to the 15 minute mark to see the La Porte coverage.
The good old days.
Kind of sad to see how Chicago and the surrounding area have deteriorated since 1976. Better times.
So, Diane Chambers gave up a promising career as a TV personality in Chicago to become a waitress in Boston? 😆
They are kickin' ass on them kazoos...😂🤣
American pride- what a concept!
15:20 a pre-Cheers Shelley Long...
already sparkling as only she could
At 22:00 Maryse Begary does one arm swings! She was 50 years old at the time!
I imagine Standard/Amoco made similar commercials to the one at 5:51 for other cities they operated in.
I hope someone needs to find the first annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks in New York City on the same night.
Me too, but given the rarity of VCRs in 1976, that would be a longshot.
Bicentennial 1976 sure was something wasn't it? 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
6:36 - In the second Standard/Amoco commercial: An appearance of footage from Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg!
Wasn't that method for unlocking natural gas called fracking?
Ron later moved to Philadelphia to anchor weekends on KYW channel 3.
12:57 Banana seats rocked!
Both Jane and Shelley represented Indiana in High School forensics. Jane represented Girls State.
Closing shot of this program (as well as the Chicago Standard Oil ad) features the new Standard Oil building.
I believe this aired at 5pm that Sunday 7/4!
simple times, wish that was my generation
Probably thankfully, it looks like Ron’s appearances are solely to pitch to/tag out of reporters.
One of the rare times he put his ego in check, it seems, before he became the news . . .
At 20:12, Andy the Clown of Old Comiskey Park fame makes an appearance
STOP with the kazoos already... wow.
Those senior citizens are adorable.
🌈🎆
The business whose ad we saw the tail end of at the start looks more like Haeger.
C'était vraiment mieux avant les enfants riaient et savaient s'amuser 😊🙂🤗
Either I need to get some glasses, or that's a fresh faced Jane Pauley @ the 0:03 mark?
You ain't imaginin' . . .
uhm....they are mentioning her name.......!!!
No offense, but this has to be the most boring 4th of July celebration I've ever seen.
Afternoon Delight theme. Chamber of Commerce.
