My first realization of this, was when I was like 14 years old. There was this trend with beauty youtubers and berry colored lipstick for fall. I thought it looked cute, and I bought one too. Whenever I tried to wear it, I looked absolutely horrible, and I never understood why. Since a while back I’ve realized it’s because I’m extremely yellow toned, and a berry shade has blue in it. Now 6 years later, I bought a brick red/brown color, same shade. Looked amazing.
So not about lipstick, but for me, it’s the same with clothes except I’m the opposite. I’m very cool toned and pale. I have medium brown hair but I have very pinkish light Irish skin. The most popular colors today however go with tan or yellow tones skin. For example, mustard yellow, army green, burnt orange, muted green, and muted warm colors. I look atrocious in warm or “fall colors.” I look better in pure or bright colors aka “jewel tones.” Sometimes you have to go against the crowd.
i felt that way w red lipstick, im pretty light and have cool skin and i never realized i look bad w red and nude cuz im so light, a nice tinted lipgloss and light pink looks nice on me
@Nerd Of The Norm Your skin has a yellow base instead of a blue one; everyone has a color tone to their skin, making them look better in some colors instead of others. Yellow toned people look better in brighter colors with a yellow base; and blue-toned people need a gray-toned base (yellow-blue, and gray-blue).
@adiamondsmile Someone sounds unnecessarily butthurt. Also "you're simple and probably really young"? "Live a little longer and you'll understand"? She's just saying how amazing Alexandra is (which is a fact!) You are all types of negative, so byeeeeee!
I came in here scoffing at the title and thinking "dress better ? what does that even mean?". But in this video it actually meant "dress smarter and improve your quality of life". I'm quite impressed.

adiamondsmile so you’re essentially saying that you should just walk around being frumpy and not putting your best foot forward just because an ancient book said so. And unfortunately, that’s not how the world works. People are going to judge you for how you look. It’s inevitable, even if you are beautiful on the inside, people aren’t going to know that unless you invite them on the outside.
She's the perfect example of beauty with brains. Everything was so well worded and explained even though half of the things went above my head (English isn't my first language) I have to watch it again and again to Completely understand it but I'm still amazed.

Ugh this video is so goooood. As far as pre-planning outfits, I've found that taking pictures of outfits that I've layed out that I know look good on me is super helpful. You can refer back to your "outfit catalog" to make outfit decision making quicker, easier, and more consistent
omg this woman is so empowering i think im gonna cry. the way she pulls out the truth and helps us realize it is absolutely amazing! and her "I Love You" at the end made me feel...worthy, remembered. all this sounds so corny but if u watched the entire video, im sure u feel the same way too. Thank You Alexandra!!
YESSSSS! I get so tired of weekly notifications from channels and then I go and look and the video has nothing really good in it. With Alexandra I KNOW I will love the video because she waits till she has a good thing to post.
I'm in the process of losing 15 pounds. I've promised myself I'm going to buy a new wardrobe at the end of my weight loss. Taking notes on what I need to buy from this video. I'm definitely going to feel my best!
Hey me too! I’m following the eat to live diet I hear about from a different UA-camr and my stubborn weight is finally coming off, can’t wait to buy new clothes 😭
I like to reverse this process by buying nice clothes first. Nice clothes that fit a little snug. It makes you rethink what you eat, and you feel pretty so you don't want to do anything that'll hurt your body and ruin the good feeling
So i realized i had left myself go. Marriage, kids and just getting older. A little over a month ago i have decided to start caring About my body, my health And my mental wellbeing. I started by cutting off negative people in my life and limiting my association with those negative ones whom i can not cut out of my life. I have focused on eating healthier and working out and i want to start taking care of my looks. I agree that it is not about how i look but about how it makes me feel and i want to feel healthy, and happy. I want to feel energetic And young for my little ones and i want to look in the mirror and feel like i look good. Thank you for this video! You have made it so simple for me to start the next step of my journey.
The thing I like about this channel is how calm the feeling in these videos is. There is no annoying background music to distract from the talking, there is no unnecessary jokes or stories, your voice id clear and calm, the video has actually a lot of work put into it and is more interesting to look at than someone just sitting there talking (not to say that’s a bad format, if done right those videos are interesting too), the videos get to the point and don’t stall. And last but not least, these tips are so helpful!! Honestly thank you for your effort to help all us having trouble with our wardrobes! Also please do a video on color theory! That’s something I struggle with a lot which makes me choose bland combinations (black and white, dark colors with dark colors etc.)
Eternal Mood I think it’s because she films it all then does the voice over later instead of talking while she films. It’s almost like we’re getting to hear the thoughts in her head. I love it!
Her videos are pure art. I've watched all her videos multiple times, especially the ones where she talks about femininity and how to dress better, and still every time I learn something new and each time they motivate me, they inspire me and they make me feel better about myself. She makes me wanna dress up and change for better. Thank you so much Alexandra, you're amazing❤ and the elegance you radiate, omg!
Shes like the cool aunt everyone wants but never has who takes you to the mall and gives you ligitimate help and advice and gets you clothes that make you look stunning.
things that prevent me: -I feel unconfident about my body showing -I don't like my skin -I don't want to dressing too showy for fear of being a slutty teenager -I'm shy so I don't want to stand out -I don't know how to match colours and patterns I'm working on it all
I feel you on the first two. I’m almost 30, and being chunky/not skinny or slender means that I don’t look as good in the same clothes; I actually look bigger and bulkier
I used to wear men's xxl t-shirts overs board shorts bc I wanted to hide my body from everybody, so I defo get how you feel 🙈 the best way to evolve your look from 0 style to some style is to start with 1 outfit or item, and working from there. I started wearing muscle tanks, then girls tank tops, then moved into wearing girls jeans, then started wearing cute shoes, then dresses, then heels. I moved slowly and added things one by one, making sure I was comfortable with something before I bought more/moved on to another item. Now I wear all sorts of stuff, like in my pic, I'm wearing a Columbia outfit (Halloween party) which is just shorts and a corset 😅 and bikinis etc, and I managed to do it with crippling anxiety 😬 just go at your own pace and don't force yourself to wear stuff you don't like (edit I changed my UA-cam pic so that comment abt my pic no longer applies lol)
It's okay. We all start somewhere. I'm 18 and I don't know how to use makeup but I want to start and make myself better. You just have to believe in the you you wanna be!
I completely understand these struggles. It took me until I was 32 to figure out that my style was a French minimalist wardrobe in primarily black, grey, and white. When I finally found my shade of red lipstick and learned how to wear it unapologetically, Evan Rachel Wood descended from the heavens and presented me with a certificate of Big Dick Energy™️. You’ll get yours too.
There’s something so unique about your videos that I haven’t seen with anyone else, they’re like the perfect balance of educational and entertaining, they’re so casual yet formal/professional and I can see how much effort you put into every video. Even when they’re longer videos I don’t find myself getting bored at all. Keep it up 💝
I eliminated decision fatigue by picking out and ironing my clothes for the work week in advance 🥰 Makes getting ready more peaceful. I'm getting into nailcare as well and got a burnt orange shade as that feels nude-ish to me.
“You’re adorning yourself with beautiful little things.” I love that. That is some awesome self-love shit right there. I never ever thought of jewelry like that. I like you.
I love the pace of your presentation. You're never boring or tedious. You move along briskly, but it's not hard to keep up with you. Your speech is fluid and articulate. You have a good voice. I'm pleased to have bumped into your channel.
Right, I barely watch her videos and I was def skeptical at first, like, "Yeah right. 'Life changing, huh?'" But then I watch them, and I'm like, "Damn girl, you did it again!"
I'm 17, still living with my parents. I barely even go out of the house. I've never shopped for myself. I'm about to become an adult in a year, and I'm glad I'm learning all this beforehand.
U maybe become an adult next year on paper but not in your action and thinking. U started to become an adult in these things years ago. Believe me or not ^^ but getting Mature starts way before your 18th birthday. And the day u will be an adult will be far away from your 18th birthdy too. Growing up, maturing is a process that needs time and years. What i want to say. Dont pressure yourself. Its okay to take a year more or 5 maybe even 10. Be an adult when u feel comfortable with it. Its okay to take this time AND its okay to make mistakes. U will make many mistakes and that is normal, fine, okay and needed.
I love this. It is so relevant. I find it difficult to be a confident woman because all my life I was ashamed to like womanly things. My parents expected a boy and all my life I felt pressure to be independent and to be a warrior and to like sports and mechanics and I was ashamed to watch womanly tv shows that I secretly loved. Then I realised that it's not what I want to be and it's only myself who's giving me pressure. Now I've found a man who encourages me to feel like a woman. No longer I have to do manly things as I had to even when I had boyfriends. I've found a manly man that I've always wanted and he supports me and wants me to be a woman that I want to be. I find some things very difficult and your channel is a blessing. Thank you.
Mi Drums omg girl! I feel you to the core and right down to my parents wanted a boy. I know they love me but it’s just been so confusing growing up to be feminine and womanly when you’re expected to be something else. At least, I felt that way. But I’m getting to know myself more now and actually be the kind of woman I want to be without any pressure.
A little tip on limiting your purchases, or at least what you keep: I've started returning all purchases that I am not excited to wear after a week. If it's still in a bag after 1 week I'll return it. It's a small step, but it has actually helped me a lot 😊

I can't believe that we're the same age. She looks like she mastered the art of being a feminin woman and I still wear t-shirts from middle school I need help
You are so right about the colors. I learned about this in high school sewing class. Im 67 now and have always dressed in my autumn colors. It really does make a difference. Love the nude nail polish - instant elegance.
On Insta someone asked about her videos and she answered this last week: "I miss you guys! I was facing some severe health stuff and have been dealing with that privately. But I am looking forward to the video I am planning and am excited to see it come together to present to you guys"
What prevents me: - It feels wrong to buy something new, even if I have excess money and it is fair fashion or second hand - If I buy something that excites me, I usually opt for the higher quality and way more expensive choice, and afterwards I sometimes end up not liking it and feel bad about that - I am often afraid of looking "too good", as if I don't deserve it - Since some bad things happend to friends, I am also scared of dressing sexy - if I do I feel like prey - Working in STEM, I often feel like I cannot dress feminine or I'll get underestimated - When I dress down because of my field, I feel ugly and like I am not true to myself, so I sometimes overcompensate in my free time - it's hard to meet in the middle UPDATE: After getting out of a toxic relationship, I had a justification to pamper myself, so I did! I'm excited for spring as I adore my new wardrobe. I didn't spend a lot and thrifted a fair share too. Also, I recently just tried to dress more like myself, as in more feminine, and started doing my nails and guess what - nobody doubts my competence because of that. :) And I found out that I like to dress a bit more edgy from time to time and allow myself some space to do so aswell. To dare myself, I incorporated some clothes that make me feel sexy without exposing my body to feel safe in my body again - flowy silks or patterned hoisery for example - and felt sooo good! I took care of my skin, got a signature scent, play around with my hair from time to time and have a few outfits ready for busy mornings. A lot has changed in a short time and I feel like an authentic well dressed version of myself again! You can do it - babysteps! :)
I know this feeling. Please know, you are special and worthy of love. Including your own love for yourself. While we can take steps to protect ourselves, we are not responsible for the systematic failure to prevent abuse in our community and systemic failure to protect the more vulnerable in the society. Clothes are not the problem, inappropriate behaviours and actions are. Small steps. 💜
phaedra 98 well I want my ghost outfit to be comfi 😂 Tshirt and cotton shorts for me! Lol after all it will be my eternal outfit, why not be comfortable.
please, please can you do a video how to look good in winter. I find myself struggling to look put together and good when its freezing outside. So being warm and comfortable usually is kind of more important than looking good
Good fit, nice wool/cotton sweater (they usually go for 30-50€, but you don't regret it) tucked in pants look cute, wool tunics, or a fall look with a warm schawl on top, depending on how cold it is. You always look put together in clothes that has a good fit for your body.

I am literally sitting in the same sweats i wore yesterday after buying 100 dollars worth of clothes with my hard earned money from burger king. Couldn't be a better time for this video ahaha
Two years ago this was posted but I genuinely want to say thank you so much! This is amazing I’ve been searching for this type of video since I started my ‘dressing better journey’. This helped so much. Especially the colour theory. So simple but so effective, thank you!!
Here's some of my self awarenesses with clothing I feel like in my free time I dress better than in the mornings when I have to go to school I feel like there is a pressure on what I'm wearing and that's why I often dress simple, to avoid judgement and attention
When you started talking about the self awareness and listed this stuff like "I often don't know what to wear so I repeat the same few items" etc i was like DAMN. THAT IS SO ME. Even though this vid lasted half an hour i watched it 2 times longer and ended with few pages full of your tips, and it's probably the first video ever that made me think about what I wear, because I do these exact mistakes you listed. Thank you for this and keep your fingers crossed that I'll get my shit together, it's the high time to do so!
I’m 25 and just had a baby last year and feel like I’m giving up on myself, this motivates me to start working out and find my style again. I used to love fashion and makeup and it gave me confidence, now I’m really self conscious
Buy a good pair of running shoes that fit you right and get out there and walk. It'll change your life the more you walk, or you can jog/run if you want. Walk at a speed you can talk, but you can't sing.
I had this problem for so long, and what I eventually realized was that by doing this to myself, I was further driving home the idea that I just don't look good in anything. It's super important to treat the body you live in like it is worthy. Regardless of your weight, you deserve to feel good in your clothes. It's really hard trying to find what looks good on you after significant weight gain, but the more you practice, the more you discover. Don't wait until you fit into a certain mould to treat yourself like you matter.
Here’s my list: - I often feel overdressed for situations and it makes me uncomfortable and causes me to underdress. - I’m unsure of what flatters my body as I’m insecure about my itty bittys -taking time in the morning to for my routine is something I never established and I wish I was more organized -I am in the process of trying to build a capsule wardrobe and have no idea what I’m missing
Thanks for sharing! I relate to this list! I've slowly gotten over the first point, though I started realizing that I often overestimated how overdressed I was. It's situational. Standing in front of the mirror, alone, in a messy room the outfit seemed too glam... But when I actually got out and was at the event it didn't seem that out of place. Plus, I always get compliments. It's ok to shine a little brighter ;) I focus on feeling more confident rather than more conscious, now. Wanted to share, hope it helps :)
I have build my capsule wardrobe over the past few months, with lots of pieces I have from before. Here are some of my pieces: (Workwear oriented) - nude and black underwear (seamless underwear, cotton underwear, even a body shaper - for rare occasions) - 3-4 pairs of jeans (not ripped, simple blue with different fits, and one black one) - pants (as in office pants) got about 3-4 of them as well - skirts (knee length is office safe)- green and black color. - basic shirts and tshirts: white, black, a few floral ones (for some colors), - blazers: simple black (got 2), a tattersall pattern, and one similar to tattersall but more subtle. - sweaters/cardigans: I got one burgundy and one dark blue sweater. - hats: I wear beret (hat) during cold weather, i also have a winter hat (grey hat with blue pompom at the top) - winter blouses: I kept all my winter blouses as they were already curated to my workwear/ to my style. Current colors: peach, black X 2, green, burdungy. - scarfs - great way to style up Make sure you got some good quality pieces for jewelry, bags as they elevate your look. For me - silver jewelry is my way to go. Tip: check your skin undertones and learn what colors work best with you. My basic colours are grey, white and black. Then on days I switch between adding blues, greens, reds(burgundy) or peaches (find it to be a feminine colour, but subtle). And don't forget shoes. Get something with a tiny bit of heel. Doens't have to be very tall, something more subtle. Go for simple styles. They will work with everything. My store recommendation: Shein - cheap, but good quality pieces.
It's important that you always dress for you. You should never allow anyone else to get inside your head, and tell you that what you're wearing is not okay, it's too dressy, too casual, too black, too white, too short, too long, etc.; after all your dressing for you, not them, right!?! Don't sweat the small stuff! Everyone wishes to be more organized. If a morning routine is really a priority, you'll find a way to make it work. A little time and investigation, and you'll know exactly what to wear for your body build. I don't know anyone who doesn't have insecurities, and must have some physical issues as well. Unless you're planning on going under the knife, you're gonna have to just deal with the itty bitty. I suggest you learn to love them. After all, you're just the way God intended you to be, what more could you ask for? Praise God for each breath and each beautiful day. Someone once told me that each sunrise is him saying good morning, and each sunset is him saying good night! Blessings to you.
I totally took notes and I loved and “absorbed” every bit of it. Yes, please do a video on Color Theory. My undertone is neutral and identifying garments that make me look washed out is challenging.
I really love her style. She’s so gorgeous and she inspired me to sell all my clothes that don’t make me feel great, and buy new clothes with the money I got for them. I’m wearing one of the outfits now and I feel so beautiful in it!
girl you are the person I needed all my life. I am a teenage girl that puts her confidence in how I look on the outside. And until I found you I didn‘t really know much about clothes and colour, heck I didn‘t even know if I have a cool or warm undertone! But thanks to you and your tips I can learn how to look my best self every day, thank you.

Yellow toned people look better in brighter colors with a yellow base; and blue-toned people need a gray-toned base (yellow-blue, and gray-blue).

I love how how when her vids are long, they’re long for a reason. Every minute is useful and not just rambling

@@girlwithapearlearring4522 ahh, classical cool aunt move...✊💔😂
Omg you spoke what is in my heart 😢😢😢
That's WHY they're cool! They can do what they want when they want and live their best life!
things that prevent me:
-I feel unconfident about my body showing
-I don't like my skin
-I don't want to dressing too showy for fear of being a slutty teenager
-I'm shy so I don't want to stand out
-I don't know how to match colours and patterns
I'm working on it all
I feel you on the first two.

Thank you.
I feel you. I used to be embarrased about liking girly things. 😞 (Still am but it's not as bad).

What prevents me:
- It feels wrong to buy something new, even if I have excess money and it is fair fashion or second hand
- If I buy something that excites me, I usually opt for the higher quality and way more expensive choice, and afterwards I sometimes end up not liking it and feel bad about that
- I am often afraid of looking "too good", as if I don't deserve it
- Since some bad things happend to friends, I am also scared of dressing sexy - if I do I feel like prey
- Working in STEM, I often feel like I cannot dress feminine or I'll get underestimated
- When I dress down because of my field, I feel ugly and like I am not true to myself, so I sometimes overcompensate in my free time - it's hard to meet in the middle
UPDATE:
After getting out of a toxic relationship, I had a justification to pamper myself, so I did!

The reason I don’t dress well:
Keep buying clothes for when I loose weight
Ooo same girl
Buy a good pair of running shoes that fit you right and get out there and walk. It'll change your life the more you walk, or you can jog/run if you want.
Walk at a speed you can talk, but you can't sing.
No buying anything until I loose weight*:(
I had this problem for so long, and what I eventually realized was that by doing this to myself, I was further driving home the idea that I just don't look good in anything.
That’s not a problem Alexandra ever faces. *sigh*

I just want to say my mom never taught me how to be feminine because she never knew how. I appreciate your videos
We all know when ya girl puts *life changing* in the title, she ain't playing around
Here’s my list:
- I often feel overdressed for situations and it makes me uncomfortable and causes me to underdress.
- I’m unsure of what flatters my body as I’m insecure about my itty bittys
-taking time in the morning to for my routine is something I never established and I wish I was more organized
-I am in the process of trying to build a capsule wardrobe and have no idea what I’m missing
Hey @karan rose! Thank you for making my list 😘
Thanks for sharing! I relate to this list!
I've slowly gotten over the first point, though
I started realizing that I often overestimated how overdressed I was.
Here are some of my pieces: (Workwear oriented)
- nude and black underwear (seamless underwear, cotton underwear, even a body shaper - for rare occasions)
- 3-4 pairs of jeans (not ripped, simple blue with different fits, and one black one)
- pants (as in office pants) got about 3-4 of them as well
- skirts (knee length is office safe)- green and black color.
- basic shirts and tshirts: white, black, a few floral ones (for some colors),
- blazers: simple black (got 2), a tattersall pattern, and one similar to tattersall but more subtle.
- sweaters/cardigans: I got one burgundy and one dark blue sweater.
- hats: I wear beret (hat) during cold weather, i also have a winter hat (grey hat with blue pompom at the top)
- winter blouses: I kept all my winter blouses as they were already curated to my workwear/ to my style. Current colors: peach, black X 2, green, burdungy.
- scarfs - great way to style up
Make sure you got some good quality pieces for jewelry, bags as they elevate your look.
I only know how to overdress...I can do skirts and dresses but I cannot wear lounge clothes, have no jeans or sweatpants! I need help.
Hey check out justin locante on UA-cam.!! That helped me.
I watched this video when it first came out 4 years ago and am now rewatching for a refresh. THANK YOU ALEXANDRA ❤
I love that she mentions budgeting. Not enough people talk about it and it's such an important skill for everyone to have
This is legit the only channel where I can watch a half hour video without getting bored of it
She's beautiful but I would have never guessed she's 24. She sounds more mature than me.
I'm 21 soon to be 22 and would look like a literal child next to her
@@DD-jr3mq same here lol
She looks more mature to me. Without having heard her, I thought she waa 30 by her face. It's her brows. They're kind of severe on her face.
She looks more older than me and I am 35.. trying to clean up my style since I am losing 50 lbs andneed more put together clothes
she looks younger without makeup
I really love her style. She’s so gorgeous and she inspired me to sell all my clothes that don’t make me feel great, and buy new clothes with the money I got for them.
I’m wearing one of the outfits now and I feel so beautiful in it!

Yas queen 💪🏼
Yassss you go girl 👏🏾🎉👑
girl you are the person I needed all my life. I am a teenage girl that puts her confidence in how I look on the outside. And until I found you I didn‘t really know much about clothes and colour, heck I didn‘t even know if I have a cool or warm undertone! But thanks to you and your tips I can learn how to look my best self every day, thank you.
‘Give me a thumbs down it’s important for me to know’ - I genuinely love her and her videos break down everything so simply 💯
