I have been out of commission for a year due to an accident and just had reverse shoulder replacement surgery two months ago. In another couple of weeks I hope to get back to doing artwork again. Then I’ll be able to dig the book out from the big pile of my dining room table!
Hello! I love the idea of having a collection of vintage imagery in a book format that keeps it easily contained rather than a ton of loose pages. I already ordered my copy from Amazon before commenting. I do not plan on using it as an Art Journal on its own. Things I love about your ‘journal’ include the beautiful vintage illustrated artwork throughout, the variety of page styles, the way you created background pages by combining elements, the cream paper it’s printed on that can be tinted to the shade/intensity my layouts need, the size of the book, and having the pages repeat. Things I would change in Volume 2 -- don’t print those beautiful illustrated images on both sides of the paper! Do what scrapbook paper companies do and have the beautiful imagery on one side then a basic text/plain page on the reverse side. Since we get two sets of these pages, I plan on cutting up one set and will probably do a tip in with the other set so that I’ll be able to color and enjoy both sides of the paper. While I love the idea of categories (my brain thinks that way), if I were to actually use the book as a journal, I’d want the page designs mixed up instead of grouped together to add variety along the journey since I start at the beginning and work my way through a journal to the end. I have no doubt this was an enormous project collecting imagery and bringing it all together - marvelous results of which you should be proud of. Thank you for your efforts in making this available for others to enjoy as well. Have a great day! 🙂👍💜
Thanks so much for your comments Sue! I took them onboard for my second book, the colouring one, although on that one the pages are not repeated. I'm looking forward to start Volume 2! So many things on the pipeline though! I hope you'r enjoying the book! Sorry for the late response, I'm catching up on 7 months worth of comments, getting there! Have a lovely weekend!!
I love the book and images. If you get a chance in the future, I would love if they were one sided so that when adding to a different art journal, you don’t have to worry about the back side image showing through. I especially love the florals and music pages. Congratulations on your new release!
I just received my copy yesterday and am excited. Sometimes I'm looking for an image and don't know where to begin. I hope to see how you use them as well, for inspiration.
Besitos!
