I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, I couldn't imagine losing my wife. When I was a kid my best friend's mom had a cockatiel and he taught it to whistle the theme song to Andy Griffith. His mom would put a blanket over the bird's cage at night and even at 3AM when I'd stay at their house I'd hear their bird whistling Andy Griffith and I'd always laugh. Again, I'm sorry for your loss, but thank you for the trip down memory lane.

He asked for a lawyer, then had his rights read, then willingly talked to the police with his rights in mind. It's all admissible, you're allowed to change your mind after invoking your rights and it's even easier in this case since the rights were read between asking for a lawyer and willingly answering questions
