4:00 they actually doubled texture resolution and on pc it now supports 4K res. They also fixed the bugs with Steam overlay and achievements not unlocking in the original game. It ran like shit on AMD gpus but it seems like the already fixed that as well. Overall a good remaster of a great game.
Zerker no they couldn't, Vigil went bankrupt. THQ Nordic released the game for free on Pc for owners of the original so there's no complaint. I personally have no desync issues with sounds in cutscenes with this version, while I had that with the original.
Entitled console players mad their generational hardware, with no decent backward compatibility or account/store system that tracks owned games across those hardware leaps - easily for devs -, has a downside.
There is a huge difference on consoles, the original game runs on 1152x648 resolution and Warmastered on 1080p native. Also on XBOX 360 doesn't have Anisotropic filter nor AA.
UA-cam compression as always destroys the image. I've played both for long hours, and I can definitely see the improved lighting and VASTLY improved textures.
I'm watching on 1080p and I don't see much of an IMPROVEMENT, difference...sure, but improved? Only that it runs 60fps now...that's about it. I do see textures a bit..."detailed", but watching the explosions...meh, the same stuff. Of course game wasn't intended to be some graphics masterpiece, but from the description of improvements does not match the actual improvement, only like...1-3 differences from whole description of Warmastered. As I read comments, I see that overall improvement has been made in practical field, such as achievements and bugs, and AMD gpu support fixed, but personally, I don't care about 4K, I will stick to 1080 for a while longer (plus I have a desk that places limits to how wide monitor I can get, and knowing that 4k does not come with 24 inch, then I must pass on that either way.)
It looks like the brunt of what they did was go through and darken textures while brightening others and removing that faded blurred look. Made everything look a lot more detailed and stand out a bit more for sure.
I snagged this on sale for 4 dollars, you may not be able to see it here but there is a definitive difference. This has to be one of the most beautiful remasters i've played. If you've already gone through the game though, it doesn't add anything more than stunning visuals. But if you haven't been able to play Darksiders, I highly recommend this upscaled version.
That's the bundle I got. I'm gonna try it out before Darksider 2. (I accidently installed the regular version though instead of the Warmastered Edition)
I see VERY little difference. The remastered looks only slightly cleaner; maybe just better texture resolution. But that's it. Good thing it's an amazing game regardless. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
Doubled texture resolution, framerate optimization, in-game support for resolutions above 1080p and now we get 4K at all, better lighting and shadows, and a 300fps cap instead of *cough* 60. With my 1440p 144Hz GSYNC display, that's a substaintial difference. Not to mention it was free and automatically detects your old save file.
Another Gills I disregarded it for the reason I stated. Those facts have nothing to do with console gaming and therefore do not tender my argument invalid. For console gamers, there is almost no discernible difference.
I was wondering why I couldn't tell much of a difference, then I noticed you're on PC. This was a great comparison video, but I do wish it was done for consoles. I'm also very curious about what else has likely changed. I'm just assuming they must have fiddled with gameplay and items. Thanks again for the video, I had several face palms yesterday watching video reviews on amazon, yesterday. It's become deplorable with the paid reviews and pointless videos.
As you said, not much change for PC, more for consoles, mainly textures and some lighting. Gameplay hasn't changed as far as I could see which can be a good thing.
Better texture quality and overall "sharpnes". Looks really good, for me personally it looks better than darksiders II becouse graphics seems to be more vivid and punchy :)
not that big change in graphics unlike other remastered games that are more noticable.. aside from it got darker and more smoke, i still love playing this game :D
The original game couldn't start for me. It crashed just after the loading screen. The remastered works totally fine. I'd recommend the remastered for anyone who has a newer pc and uses windows 10.
I bought this game in CZ in 2012, so I had no english. I came close to the end, didnt finish it. Now I see the warmastered edition in my steam library, bet englishs gonna be avaiable. time for a rerun.
They added more highlights to textures and some minor details and made the image more crisp/sharp but its very light change but you can see it on some cutscenes it does look clearer on warmastered
Unfortunately UA-cam compressed the remaster too much. Can't see much of a difference, but the difference is actually there when you run the game. Especially at 4k.
Thanks for the effort. I am playing this on a 1440p monitor. And the difference between being forced at 1080p and being able to play at my monitor's true resolution, with all the other updates, is the real selling point. Also worth mentioning: No more issues with HID-compliant "virtual" devices, which made playing the original Darksiders impossible on many computers.
There is a difference, people. Not a big one, but it's there. If they did the same thing to Darksiders as they did to Darksiders 2 with the Deathinitive Edition, they probably applied physically based rendering to the game (or maybe not, I'm just some dude, not a developer), as War's face looks more natural. There's also a few textures I noticed that looked quite a bit sharper, and to me the overall image looks better. The colors, shadows, contrast, it all is just that tiny bit more pleasing to the eye. So to me, the Warmastered Edition is definitely the superior one, if only by 2% or something lol. When it comes to DrS2 vs DrS2 Deathinitive though, I am clueless as to what I prefer. The Deathinitive edition obviously has the PBS (physically based rendering) applied to it so for example metal surfaces are nice and shiny, and Death's character model looks a bit sharper (the amulet shards on his chest for example), but the game overall lacks that original "glow", and some things look way worse because they lack the bloom effect from the original, such as certain lava textures and particle effects such as lava splashes.
After comparison, I feel that the remake only has better picture resolution, In fact, the first generation version is not bad, the picture is more American comic style
Its available on gamepass and I'm playing it. Pretty good game. I've never played darksiders. The 4k support on the X looks really good. Seems if they called it "remastered" they should've added more detail to the game. Like more debris in the streets and building structures. It would've looked even better with the sharpness of the 4k with hdr support. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. The story is really good so far.
I have a problem starting the + game. When I finish the game it puts me to main menu and when I start a new game it asks me about difficulty but not about the abysal armor. And I don't get it... Just another regular game..Can someone help please? Maybe send me a link with a game + save?
--- This is a bug, the camera animation is missing. In the re-mastering is always added bugs. Remember Skyrim, where there was a big drawback with strongly compressed music. In Mafia 2 remastered, at the very beginning of the game, when Vito arrives and goes with a suitcase, the cheerful hot dog seller is silent. One is added and the other is subtracted.
That 4gb game is made 20+GB and how much difference I see in graphics only brightness is increased I think there is something else more than graphics in reworked version
Particle effects and lighting are substantially better, textures are a little sharper but not by much. Basically a reskin and probably code level overhaul of the original to make it look a teensy bit nicer but mostly to release it for modern hardware. That said this is original on PC vs remaster on PC. The original on PS3/360 didn't look as good as far as I remember. Definitely not running in native 1080.
Ok for those who say "I see very little difference" I can say either you guys are kids or have never work in your life. It requires hundreds of hours to design and edit all the detail in the game. the importance of the warmastered version is to get new players to join, making old game competitive with the current game released. its a very good move from THQ to keep the game relevant. and really appreciate Game Intros & Finales for this amazing comparison.
I am playing this amazing game again and I had to watch this video because I wasn't able to feel the difference. I love they have brought us this title again, this is one of my favourite games ever! It is a pity that Darksiders 2 is not so good... am I the only one who is afraid of Darksiders 3? I hope they can recover all the essence of this masterpiece
thanks for the video. I had both versions on steam (only bought the original) and had the original already installed. I didn't want to miss out on anything, but my internet is slow and game downloads suck. This helped.
не сильно видно разницу, но разработчики молодцы, очень сильная крутая франшиза получилась, а игра стала культовой, а ремастер можно и еще раз сделать, вообще топ
only thing is wat are the specs of the actual PC your comparing this to the ps4 with?? I have a ps4 pro and a gameing PC...I have Darksiders on ps4 but I know my PC will definitely out perform my ps4, at a steady 120 fps....jus saying this to keep a fair outlook at this comparison...
I have the ps4 version and even series x. Don't know why but on series x looks better...more details and sharper image... It should be 1080p on both console... is it in 4k on series x?
People need to understand that there is a difference between a remaster and a remake. Most sound like they are disappointed the games still look similar. It's a graphical enhancement, not a game overhaul.
Yes, mainly, look at this feature list on Steam: "Support for up to 4k video output resolution, doubled all the texture resolutions, re-rendered all cutscenes in high quality, rendering improvements and rework, better shadow rendering quality, post processing effects, optimized framerate, wide variety of graphic options, Steam Trading Cards, Native Steam Controller Support"
The graphics are BARELY different... Little things like slightly more detail in rock/concrete surfaces, news paper details, slightly better shading... But honestly, its really not even that noticeable! Presumably the framer ate is better, and I would HOPE, they fixed any problems the original had... But seeing the exact game breaking bugs in Deathinitive Edition of Darksiders 2, I doubt they fixed much, if anything...
I think the people in this comments section are blind as hell, the textures are MASSIVELY improved. Sure, it doesn't look like a modern $60 release (because it is only $20), but to be so ignorant and claim that there is "very little difference" is dumb.
I Bought all 3 Darksiders games 4 in total with DS1-remastered today, for Winter sale on steam for $25.00 I plan on playing DS1-remastered. Thumbs up if you agree.
Its certainly an excellent job, its seen with the naked eye. But I dont see enough differences to download so many gigas who still have the classic version. Obviously I say this without belittling or despising this work.
if we watch it in 1080p anyone can clearly notice huge difference in lighting and textures, sharpness of surroundings...... clearly remastered edition is sharper and better than original one......
I have a habbit of watching these on my phone and i cant tell the difference but on the tv i can spot the higher res textures more dynamic lighting / shadows and improved anti-aliasing. These are a nice touch but not worth the resale price they slap on these if you own the original.
The very definition of how to do a lazy cash grab. It looks almost identical apart from the textures which arent all that great or noticeable anyway... a single person could have smashed this port out in a couple of months. The most hilarious bit is it was actually delayed just to polish it up... ha!
4:00 they actually doubled texture resolution and on pc it now supports 4K res. They also fixed the bugs with Steam overlay and achievements not unlocking in the original game. It ran like shit on AMD gpus but it seems like the already fixed that as well. Overall a good remaster of a great game.
From what I've seen the audio tends to desync in cutscenes though, which is really distracting, still, for 4 dollars, guess I can't complain too much.
Zerker no they couldn't, Vigil went bankrupt. THQ Nordic released the game for free on Pc for owners of the original so there's no complaint. I personally have no desync issues with sounds in cutscenes with this version, while I had that with the original.

+Tamás Lovizer On PC yes. It will automatically detect the old save if you kept it.
you need a microscope from MIT to see the difference
There is a huge difference on consoles, the original game runs on 1152x648 resolution and Warmastered on 1080p native. Also on XBOX 360 doesn't have Anisotropic filter nor AA.
Oh I can finally see the difference. In remastered version the health bar now shows cracks. And that's about it.
Ohhh!!! Much difference, such improvement, so awesome, wow!
UA-cam compression as always destroys the image. I've played both for long hours, and I can definitely see the improved lighting and VASTLY improved textures.
Differences are visible on video, too. People simply need to stop watching in 480p, it's 2017!
Textures are twice the resolution, it shows a lot in game.

Dan Couch y not it's on 20 dollers goes good with the collection
Its was on sale for 4 like a day ago.
I got it for free as I already had purchased the original one before
Dan Couch Wow $4?!?
That's the bundle I got. I'm gonna try it out before Darksider 2. (I accidently installed the regular version though instead of the Warmastered Edition)
5:15 : You can't see any difference? It's time to change your 15" monitor...
Good video, thanks for the effort
You're welcome.
Here I can't get a decent frame rate on the lowest quality settings of the original and they released a remaster. *goes to a corner and cries*
I played this @ 7fps 640x480 resolution xD
I see VERY little difference. The remastered looks only slightly cleaner; maybe just better texture resolution. But that's it. Good thing it's an amazing game regardless. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Crippled MagnumPI I'm primarily a console gamer. You're talking about PC results, which is cool, but doesn't do anything for me.
Worthless input Tyler. He's stating facts and you just disregard them SMH
Another Gills I disregarded it for the reason I stated. Those facts have nothing to do with console gaming and therefore do not tender my argument invalid. For console gamers, there is almost no discernible difference.
Tyler Rue Resolution is applicable to console
Played this at 2k virtual res on a big screen tv , played and enjoyed , one of my fav games
It's a very good game. Darksiders 2, too. And Nordic Games seems to work on Darksiders 3...
actlualy they are now calling themselves thqnordic ...
lets hope
i thought gunfire games was made from alot of the old staff & responsible for reviving the series
new textures, lighting/shadow, new antialiasing, and ambient occlusion i think
Thanks for a great comparison video, I wasn't able to tell the difference between the games and this helped me decide not to bother with Warmastered
I was wondering why I couldn't tell much of a difference, then I noticed you're on PC. This was a great comparison video, but I do wish it was done for consoles.

Warmastered : around 20gb
Wtf
Double textures??? :D
MOAR textures!
thing does include 4K textures...

And how do you explain 10 more GB of textures and 2X more hardware demand? I call that a bad programming.
i did find that the colours in the remastered version is a lot brighter
The map in remastered has a tiny red line on War
it's just that the colors are slightly improved, I didn't see anything else changing
Not that great but hey it's 20$ and not 60 like some companies want
Gamer Guy XD
man, its necessary for the console sheeps to buy games so that we can get more games
The PC versions were free if you already possessed the original ones.
God I wish I had war's voice
Thanks for the video, great job ! (by the way I can't see so much differences between the two versions -_-)
That's because your probably watching it on a phone screen at 720p of coarse your not gonna see a difference
Unfortunately UA-cam compressed the remaster too much. Can't see much of a difference, but the difference is actually there when you run the game. Especially at 4k.

Besides the graphics, is there any other differences between the two version, gameplay or content-wise?
It kinda looks like they might have touched up the animations a bit, too.
Actually yes, they improved the gameplay ON pc, the keyboard + mouse gameplay that was a mess in the original and also it feels much smoother.
I like the remastered version, It has a more vibrant colour pallet and the textures are sharper and everything looks better.
basically the only difference is better picture, 4k textures, slightly more moody lighting. just shows how well the game aged, if anything.
U did it very well, congrats.

it is pretty hard to notice a difference sadly. So im gonna play both, since youtube compression destroys comparison videos like this.
The best change in this remaster is having the cutscenes run at 60 FPS as opposed to the 30 FPS from the original game.

I suspect you put more effort into this video than the devs put into the warmaster edition ,,,,
Just a PSA, but the 360 version of this game will run on the Series X at 4k 60 fps.
The very definition of how to do a lazy cash grab. It looks almost identical apart from the textures which arent all that great or noticeable anyway... a single person could have smashed this port out in a couple of months. The most hilarious bit is it was actually delayed just to polish it up... ha!
improvement in the flames are most noticeable.
Lo veo igual!, tal ves solo un poco de más color en el remasterizado
I don't think that THQ Nordic Doesn't now about remastered
I have the game on PS3 AND PS4 on the remaster you can tell the color is darker and more vibrant
1:53 WTF why are the people missing in the remastered edition ???
im going with the original.
love the order at the end :D
and orgnal version takes 10 gb disk space
remastered takes 23 gb disk space
really necessary?
For someone that is storage-space-aware this is a downgrade in my opinion.
Not much difference except a little bit of post-processing. It can be done more.
