Both looked to do a decent job. There is no one set combination pad/compound that is perfect for all corrections. Every correction, make, model, and amount of damage is different. If I had to make a choice for someone who is just starting out or the weekend warrior. 3D and the Uro pad is absolutely your best choice for most situations.
Agreed. There's no one size fits all. However, I don't think you can go wrong with either pad. In my opinion, I'd recommend the Rupes yellow for beginners, etc, from a safety standpoint with uro fiber as a next level. Thank you for your input!!
Those pads are my actual cutting (Uro-Fiber) and polishing / finishing pads (Rupes Yellow foam) that I usually have in my arsenal. I have the white but almost never need them. I find the Uro-Fiber great at cutting. 3D ONE is also my most used correctuon liquid.
I mean Uro-Fiber obv gonna have more cut to it than a Yellow Rupes pad, especially if using the same polish and pass length. I'd be more interested in seeing say a Uro-Fiber vs a Rupes Microfiber or a Rupes Wool Pad. It also sort of depends on the paint, and damage you're working on. Some paints won't take a Uro-Fiber as a all in one pad, cause it'll leave some hazy micro-marring in certain lighting. It's impossible to say that there's one pad/polish combo that'll work for everything. Personally I won't really do any serious paint correction unless there's a coating application to follow (I could do a very quick paint enhancement, with almost no cut to it). In which case unless there's some ridiculous level of damage, for the most part I'll end up using the Dr. Beasley's Nano Primer polishing system. Which I love cause you can mix and match the various polishes as you go depending on the damage level of individual panels, and they'll pretty much finish out the same. So I can start with the 45, and if I see some light swirls or scratching, just add a drop or two of the 95 or 150 to the same pad, and just keep going. Plus no IPA wipe down needed, and coatings tend to bond and perform better regardless of what brand you go with. That's not to say you couldn't do a separate cut, or compounding stage, then finish with the Nano-Primer...it's very flexible.
Is this yellow rupes pad more aggressive than the orange Griot's pad ? I used Sonax 6/4 then perfect finish. I still see scratches on this silver car and wondered if its my compound or do I need the yellow microfiber pad from rupes.
@MichaelBlast I'm not sure as I haven't used griots. Using the yellow rupes pad with 3d one does a great job with minor scratches. Uro fiber is more aggressive, and you can always step up to wool and microfiber pads also from rupes for heavier defects. Hope this helps!
You will certainly have a refined finish. In that scenario, I would try a small section with each pad combo and run with the one that gives you the results you prefer. It really depends on the paint hardness, polisher, technique, etc. What is the vehicle and color?

You can't go wrong using both! Not a lot of use for the white pads.
So 3D one is best with rupes yellow foam

Lower the background music please 😊
Good video!
Thank you. I'm still working on my video editing skills. I appreciate the open feedback!
Interesting video, definitely Uro fibre for me , 3D one is so good !
I'm definitely a fan of all three!
The music is too loud
Try no music
You should have dome same pad diff product, then vice versa. the wool pad did better, doesn't mean product was better.

Uro fiber for sure
Definitely great pads!!
Music to loud, to many questions, you were there in person. You should tell US what it did or didn’t do. 👍
I definitely need to work on my video skills. I'm assuming that the visual wasn't enough to show the differences? Thanks for the input!
What are your thoughts? Uro pad 3D One followed by rupees yellow and sonax perfect finish or a white pad?
