Great love ballad! I used to catch them when they performed at Hilton Hawaiian Village in the 80s. Turns out my dad, who grew up in Waialua and worked in the cane fields, knew some of the dads of some band members. Fabulous/Krush was a talented local band, gave me lots of good musical memories.
Can't believe that Hal Bradbury is a grandpa but time passes on. Love Waialua Sky and anything by Krush. Saw them for prom way back in 81, it was the must see show back then. :)
This song got a TON of airplay on local island Top 40 radio stations when it first came out. (Yes, it would play alongside artists like the Bee Gees, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, etc.) But now, it's never played on radio & has become a lost hit. A great tune & an exqusite performance.
The Krush used to travel to all of the schools on Oahu & give us our own concerts it was so kewl to watch them perform this was during the 1980's. All local guys. Thanks for sharing this song it has brought back so many memories of my high school dayz.
I was on vacation for 1 week in August 1979 & July 1980, Saw the Fabulous Krush/The Krush at the Garden Bar, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Loved their shows.
AWESOME!!!!! I saw them in 1979 while on vacation in Honolulu as a kid. We bought their album and I played it over and over for many years til I wore it out. What memories. I am so glad someone took the time to share this. THANX
Love Krush! My sister went to Hawaii back in 1980 and told me about this group and their performance. Wish I would have seen them! She has their album which we still love playing and singing along to...beautiful music. I'd love to see a video of "Between the Laughter and the Tears."
1981 I moved to New Mexico where I met two Hawaiian guys. We hit off great friendship, sharing interest in beautiful women, liquor, and pakalolo. We rented a house together, and for the next two years my bra’s showed me how local boys partied in the islands. Along with the girls, booze, and wowie, they introduced me to C&K, Don Ho, and Fab K. One Sunday morning after a hard night of party Denny put this song on the record player. It struck a chord in the three of us, because we (and the girls) didn’t recall much of the previous 2 days. So, we blamed it on the night, and this became our virtual theme song. Those were the best days of my youth. Mahalo for your kokua, my bra’s, you know da kine.
Bobby Gonzalez, Butchie Canencia, Hal Bradbury these are the names of the guys from The Krush I remember because they came to Waipahu High School during the 1979 to the 1980's. I wonder where they are now. I got a chance to work with Bobby Gonzalez but it wasn't a musical job but at Radio Shack.
July 1979 Hilton Hawaiian Village Amazing memories of our last vacation as a family. Daddy Mommy and 5 year old. Daddy was taken by a drunk driver the next summer. This group did original music and fantastic impersonations! SO much fun!
Finally figured out the chords to this song....Well, sorta..!!! But anyway, just an awesome song that brings back a lot of memories growing up in the Islands..!!!
Nobody makes music like The Fabulous Krush anymore 🫶🏾

Nostalgia, hand in hand. Foot of Diamond Head, looking for a warm escape, strangers in Paradise. Magical.

I love this song! The original is by Robert Byrne, listen to his version too-both are amazing!
There's a third version from Terry Williams. Lovely too!
