If my memory serves me well I swear city won back to back leagues with a false nine before haaland and after aguero and his injuries
These guys are suffering from selective amnesia!
Yeah. Good luck doing that when Arsenal is chasing you within a point until the very last round.
@@jooohan-i9oLiverpool chase city with 90+ points and Arsenal has not even reached 10 points by chasing city stop making it like something scary is not that scary
@@free7816 try using punctuation next time, buddy. Helps with getting your message across. Arsenal finished the league two points behind City…what…3 months ago? So I literally don’t know what you’re on about.
@@jooohan-i9o Lol go to school and teach english to village boys Mr. English teacher football isn't for you. Those bottlenal boys can get a 10 point lead over us and in 2 domestic cup finals and still find a way to come trophy less back to London. No City fan is worried about Goonerland's "We will win it next season" fantasy because that's what it is a fantasy not reality. Losing Alvarez is not that big of a deal we have Oscar Bob our next generational talent so it's a blessing in disguise Alvarez leaving Bob can now get valuable minutes.
City bought Alvarez for 14 million just two seasons ago. And now they are selling him for 82 million. They literally sold him for five times what they brought him in for in just two seasons. That’s incredible business.

For a club that doesn't need money
@@dregen8662 Bro we are broke. We sold Alvarez to fund getting a Rodri backup. City having endless amount of money is a myth.
As a City fan, I would've much rather kept Alvarez than worry about the profit.
@@ZoomEditzz😂
They need to use the money on a Rodri backup. They have enough talent and options in attack
Spot on
Pep find one in preseason
You mean a KDB replacement
City has Pep, he's the best football mind in the game now and maybe ever. He has a deep, talented squad and I am sure he will find a way to utilize the guys he's got and get goals. City conceded more goals on the counter last year than we are used to seeing so I think his focus will be cleaning up the mistakes in the back first
115
And he’s got first team full of players that had international duties three weeks ago. If you ever need deep squad with the best possible quality, it’s after a big international tournament. I wonder if De Bruyne manages at least half of the league games this season…if he stays at all, that is.
@@jooohan-i9o Every year I hear this same bitter rant from haters and every year City manages just fine. I suspect this year will be no different. KDB is training with the team and will be with City at least through the end of this year.
rinus michels is the best coach ever. Pep's ideas have come from him
@@ferrantepallasyawn boring dont you have anything else to say lol
Alvarez was bought for 14 million. Why do they NEED to spend 50-60?
To get the finished article.
@@TheWhisperCorner The6 don't need a finished article right now. They already have Haaland.
@@TheWhisperCornerthey don't need a finished article to be a backup. They won't buy a striker.
@@russellward4624 yea either a young player or an older player to be back up; Alvarez turned out to be better than they thought and they couldn't keep him happy
They don't, these pundits are thinking of clubs (United) that like to go for big names instead of investing in young talent.
City have signed 4 players this season. Savinho, Oscar Bobb, Nico O' Riley and James McAtee.
Barring Savinho, all are from Man City Academy.
@@deepakpandey8240 Exactly and that is my point.
Echeverri joining in December
Well what they did when Kompany, Silva, Aguero, etc left: recruit smart and keep winning titles 💙
Edit: Ale is always spouting nonsense. Off course City knew Alvarez's potential, I remember they signed him up and still let him develop in Argentina before bringing him over. He is talking like City just picked him up at the Buenos Aires bus stop 😂
Pep is the GOAT
Instead of buying another elite striker, better promote players from Man City Academy. Then sell some players who are inconsistent and ageing two to three years from now.
You Gen-z kids think football is career mode 😂😂 hilarious.. Football has deteriorated 😂
Agreed they don’t need a second choice striker bc Alvarez played cam and bobb and savio can both play there along with Bernardo and foden they need to sell Phillips cuz he lacks confidence and buy a new dm as a backup to rodri
They Surely need Haaland back up if not they will struggle Alvarez helped City so much last season especially that helped them win the league
Then u don't know city 😂..city can even play without a number 9
@@EnockMweetwa-d9g they could play without a keeper. 😄
They can even win with refs playing free roam
Lol relax are you guys forgetting the false nine era the goals were scored the team chipping in everyone contributing now we got doku savio foden de bruyne fully fit
You don't know anything man City have been playing without a striker many times
Bobb will take Alvarez's position. He's a cunning little player. That said, Alvarez was doing fine until De Bruyne sent him to the bench. His really not a striker, nor a midfield. He's just a smart player like Bernado Silva who is hard to replace.
Rather than find backup striker for Haaland, I think city should find a proper backup for Rodri...a player like him is proven to be critical in city's system, and when he's not in the pitch, their game play falls apart, Kalvin Philips is a bad signing now I think Pep should find a proper backup for Rodri.
The front line is kinda okay, newly added Savinho. Bobb or McAtee can be promoted too (or at least more game time). But Rodri's backup is quietly significant to find
Oscar Bobb been playing decent lately maybe give a chance
Manchester City already has a young player lined up from one of their several professional teams own by City Group. Probably higher potential than Alvarez. City Group are shrewd businessmen.
Oscar Bobb will be #9 when Haaland is out and he will cook. Unless they buy a striker. In my opinion at least
now this guy knows what he's talking about
Pep will just play Savio on the right and play Silva in a sporadic role coming on in midfield and pushing Foden forward when he rests Haaland. Foden also plays there if Haaland is injured, but KDB and Bernardo can also play there
Pep is the goat he know exactly what they need to win
These 2 pundits are among the best on ESPN - they should use them more
I wouldn’t be surprised if Manchester City doesn’t sign someone to replace Julian Alvarez even though they’ve sold him for 95 million. As we’ve seen with teams in this transfer window, they feel as if they’re happy with their squads going into next season and feels as if they don’t need to sign any players because I know Pep has come out and said that they’re not going to sign players and they’re done with their transfer business, in this situation, they have to go out and buy a striker in the market. Even though he wasn’t a starter, they’re losing a player in Alvarez who provided them very good output and was able to perform well no matter what role he was asked to play. They’ve been in this position many times when they’ve lost a key player in the team whether it’s Raheem Sterling Riyad Mahrez Ilkay Gundogan etc as they’re able to find solutions and cope without their presence in the team. As I’ve said before, even though they have a lot of money, it’s not going to be easy to find a striker who’s willing to come off the bench and it’ll bode well for them if they’re able to do that. If they feel as if it’s impossible to sign a backup striker; he has to utilize what he has at his disposal even though it’s a bit of a risky approach from them.
In a season where it’s important for these squads to be very deep in almost every position due to the change in format in the champions league, nobody knows what’s going to happen if they end up losing Erling Haaland who’s their only recognized striker because it’s well documented that they’re going to rely on him to score goals, but in a season, he’s capable of missing a significant amount of games due to injuries meaning that Pep has to work around his squad if he loses his main striker. With the type of manager he is, he knows how to experiment and has been able to have tactical flexibility when he doesn’t have any natural strikers available meaning that if Haaland is tired he needs to rest and misses some games with injury, expect one of their midfielders or attackers to play as a false 9. (Phil Foden Kevin de Bruyne Bernardo Silva Jack Grealish Jeremy Doku Savinho Oscar Bobb etc) majority of the players I’ve mentioned are capable of playing as a center forward and have played there in the past and the quality in the team doesn’t drop off even when they have to play without an out and out striker and losing Alvarez is a bit of a blow for them, Manchester City has so much talent that they’ll find ways to cope without him.
Dats why they have foden
I was very excited when we got Alverez
How hard is it to understand City’s greatest need a proper cover for Rodri who can play in the 8. Bruno G could’ve done it, Kimmich could’ve and even Barella. But the City board don’t address such a critical issue, questions need to be asked of board. Rodri has come out publicly 2x now begging for rest. This is turning into an embarrassment and IF Rodri gets injured or strangles a player again, City can kiss the PL title goodbye given how instrumental he is in the total functioning of the team. SMH
Not a loss. In fact a great savvy deal.
The present team for the most part are quite comfortable and well drilled at playing with a false 9. They did that before Haaland appeared when they had to change their style of play. Indeed they effectively did it last season for a time when Haaland was out injured. Alvarez did not play No.9 in the style of Haaland. It should be no problem.
Rodrygo? 👀
Or maybe Eze
Man City already have a replacement in Claudio Echeverri. He's an exceptional talent.
How do you know this? Do you watch him play or you've just seen highlights?
@@ZoomEditzz Echeverri is a more technically gifted player than Alvarez. How will he translate that to the PL we have to wait and see but he is very promising
THis young player is Not A striker and wont be a striker he is play maker scorrer and still long way for him to join City main team now.
@@ZoomEditzz I've seen enough to know he's an upgrade on Alvarez.
@abukhalidali1823 He won't play as a striker. He's a false 9 or 10. Offers more than Haaland, who is a traditional 9.
City won two EPL back to back, without proper no9, that city and thats PEp you are talking about
Ivan Toney as a sub to Halaand would be a great signing
AupaAtleti❤❤❤
I’m sure Man City with abundant resources will figure it out. What a problem to have.
They don’t need to buy a new striker to replace him we got Bobb ans savinho just joined we need a second choice dm and we will be fine
Does Pep care he wont be their next season anyway let the following manager have to worry about it and also worry about playing in league 1 🤣🤣😂
Just picture this: Alvarez instead being at a rich club that wins trophies constantly and is one of the favorites to win Champions League, he preferred to go to a club that barely wins anything and is never a favorite for the Champions, just and only because he wanted to play more. How many playes do that move?
The only person they should consider is Anthony. $70M should do it. Please take Anthony.
Pep will always be Pep..he knows whats best 😁👌🏼
Oscar Bobb time to shine ✨
This is the biggest problem for clubs & managers in EPL, why do fan have know who is Hulio? If fan knows all then why do u need Manager? Or media use fan's name to impose their impressions. Fan will automatically knows a player if that player starts playing better football....
Pep better buy a striker and a DM that can also play .8 and a fullback that can use on the right on left
They already have 4 players that can play FB. They won't sign a striker either.
Break the rules agsin or ask their oil sugar dad for some pocket money ... 116 incoming
Rodri and KDB backup and new RB.
Oscar Bobb and Savinho has them covered for Alvarez exit.
We can get liam delap back as a back up striker
😂Why is Ale always hyper active
Question: did Manchester win the league two season ago without a recognized number 9 ?
Laturo shows he can play with a main striker
ONLY ONE ANSWER: JONATHAN DAVID plays as a 9 and a 10 regularly like Alvarez
oh my gosh that would be sick
I'm Canadian so I back him but he didn't have a good Copa and his value definitly went down
I think pep already got strategy for this.
They might go for a Rodri replacement and Neto, Foden will play in the false 9.
Go back to false nine obviously pep loves midfielders more than strikers so there won't be any replacement maybe another midfielder.. People forget that false nine city were scoring goals for fun defenders didn't know who to press they will be fine
nahhh Oscar Bob
Probably win the league.
Pep does not have to replace Alvarez by scouring the market.
The best coaching mind in the world will adapt from within and with what is to come. He has just toured the USA with a smile on his face, without Alvarez, and seen the further rise of Bobb and the new rise of McAtee and O'Reilly. He has Savio to integrate and Echiverri to come.
It excites him and he will sign a new contract. Sorry to disappoint ESPN, lol.
The next to go is Haaland, if City plays for others, as Pep thinks as "PRIMA DONNA", who has no idea that he no longer has Messi, and is still in his bubble of not taking advantage of great players, that's why he could barely win a Champions League.
Rotation 👍
Best option would be buying Guimaraes
City had already bought echeverri. Not going to buy anyone.
They buy eze .neto paqueta
Wout Weghorst... you heard it here first
Its more like luck that he brought to teams...not good news for citizens😢😢😢
It is stupid to go back to play with false 9 because it will disrupt the team chemistry and unsettled the players. Two seasons ago Man City changed their style of play to be more direct in order to fit Haaland in the team to the detrimental of Alvarez's game. If Pep changes the system again and starts playing with a false 9 there are 2 possibilities that can occur. Either Haaland's performance will drop significantly or the other forwards who are asked to play as false 9 will become unsettled. As good as Foden is, he is not a striker or a false 9. There was a reason why he was never asked to play as a false 9 3 seasons ago when Man City didn't have any recognized striker.
Foden played many times as a false nine for City. I remembered against Chelsea (I'm a Chelsea fan) he played false nine at Stanford bridge and city won easily. That false nine city were incredibly hard to get the ball from.
No more signings for City, in this window.
People tend to forget city play better with false 9 cause they are unpredictable with that. Only in the champions league they need Haaland to score properly cause the last 2 leagues they won before Haaland they scored more goals than they did after Haaland arrived
Alvarez is going where he should have been all along, LaLiga : land of ballers not a sell out league
La Liga will ALWAYS be second best to the Premier League.
@@Peradabo😂
@JoshuaGuevara7 I know it's laughable to think otherwise. I agree. The whole world tunes in for Premier League games. People only watch La Liga for the El Classico. Only a two team league.
@@Peradabo Yes. It's Celtic and Rangers in the sun.
@@Peradabo Real, Barça, Atletic, Bilbao, Girona, Villarreal, Sociedad, Valencia?!! There’s plenty of good teams as well. No wonder Spain is currently dominating football. I still rate PL above La Liga tho but I don’t think they’re that far behind…
Are we still gonna hear Grealish is worth 100m?? I knew he was a back pass / dribble merchant but didn't know he had 3 goals 3 assists whole season. Even youth player could do better than that. Thanks for the Alvarez bargain
Trade ferran torres with cancelo
City won't buy a 9, because no decent 9 will sit on the bench. They'll think out side the box, they've won leagues without a 9 I'm sure they can manage now without a 9 if needs be.
They should get Felix 👀
Atleti offered Joao on the deal. City said no.
0:26 Sit behind Halland...why? He couldnt win them the Champions League.
Man city is best manager
And Madrid won CL with out a number 9
Wow, everyone is losing their mind. It is what it is. Loyalty comes a long way. If alvarez thinks tat city is not good enough, so be it. He will be Messi in his new club, best of luck.
They will have to sign central midfielder first at all cost, if not city is doomed
Doomed is an interesting choice of word 😂 are they getting relegated without one? What profile of player do they need?
Paqueta would have been a good signing but for his betting scandal
They have been selling an letting go players cus the been over with ffp they more they chop down the better for them
No they're not. Theyve got loads of money they could spend. Theres just nobody good available.
Alvarez wasnt top player when he came here, and Alvarez is not out and out striker.
We'll win the league all the same
They don't need a number 9 , cause city have so many young players who can fit in there , ya they are a bit inexperienced buy they can still do the job like Oscar Bobb , ecchaveri , as for my opinion I think they should get jamal musiala in, cause he is so flexible he can fit in anywhere , midfield winger
City need a Joshua kimmich they can’t just always crumble when rodri gets injured and kimmich is able to play beside rodri and pep knows him very well so there would be no adaptation period but after this euros rodri needs to be rested more
City winning on and off the pitch.
City will go all in for Osiman
Are you drunk?
@@russellward4624 lol prob the last player they will be all in for
Foden could play the false number 9 no problem 😊😊😊
