- With most of the rivers not open until the 01 April, I decided to take up the long overdue invite to go and fish the River Taff. My host for the day was Terry Bromwell he has been fishing the rivers of South Wales since he was 5 or 6 worming and catching some superb trout. His family are big into fishing and shooting so he was always outside doing something or other, whatever the weather. The past few years he have been representing Wales in the river internationals where he has competed against the home nations. in 2013 he won his first Brown Bowl and Wales won gold. In 2014 he was the proud captain of a Gold Winning Welsh team.
It's safe to say I could not have been in better hands. Having met Terry at the International Grayling Festival several years back we have remained firm friends. The day looked incredibly promising surely I would get my season of the mark?
How did your opening day go, has it even happened yet? Let me know in the comments section below.
Best angler in Wales by a country mile, you really need to see the Taff when it is fishin well. Great video Lindsay as always.
Going back soon pal defo worth the drive
Fabulous and helpful video gents!...on beautiful Welsh rivers...what a cracker of a fish on your March Brown dry fly pattern...thanks for sharing ...looking forward to the brown trout 2023 season
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
great video boyos.we want more
If Terry is up for it I’m in 😉
Great video, the Taff truly is a magnificent river, you wouldn't think that quality of fish would live in such a moody urban waterway, and that includes the Rhondda. Come back in a few months and the big girls will be out.
Sure will!
Great to see Brommers wetting a line 👌
They were hard worked for Terry.
Glad you had a great day on the taff lindsay .
You'll have to come down and fish the Ogmore for the sewin later on in the year as my guest mate
Really enjoyed the day, both the Taff and Rhondda are great rivers. Thanks for the kind offer. 👍
@@lindsayiflyfish ill keep in touch let you know when they are running lindsay
Brilliant video boys :) This is my first year joining the Ospreys looking forward to fishing the River soon :)
Lucky man tight lines.
Great fish handling, Terry! Well done.
Thanks for watching.
Great video again sir you should just go fishing in a float tube the amount of times you fall in 🤣
I am in the water more than Duncan Goodhew
@@lindsayiflyfish thankfully you have bit more hair
Is that all litter along the banks of the Rhondda ?
I am afraid it has a fair amount of litter. That’s the problem with running through an urban area.
Nice ! Is the ospreys water a stocked water or are the fish wild ?
All wild fish pal.
Hard to believe we're only coming out of winter and there are fish of that quality in the river. It looks like they've been feeding well. Great video Lindsay and Terry!
Thanks Rhys, hope to be out with you again soon!
Getting somewhat of a contest between you, Rhys and the Fishing in Wales boys of who produces the best videos.
Some good fish being produced between the 3 of you.
No contest David, I really enjoy watching Rhys and the Fishing in Wales videos. Can't wait to head back for another crack.
@@lindsayiflyfish if you ever fancy a day out in the hills of N Wales then give us a shout, i have no doubt I'd learn a lot!
@@davidhumphreys7035 Very kind pal.
Another great video Lindsay. Terry’s a top guy, awesome angler and a dab hand with a camera.
For sure buddy a lot to learn from him 👍

Sorry I haven’t Danny.
Beautiful brownies! Makes me excited to get out on my home river.

Sorry old chap, swimming while fly fishing is rarely advised.
🤣 thinking about two dry bags in the future
Great video and quality fish. Nicely done Lindsey
Thanks so much!
looks a great piece of water to fish even this early so how good will it be as the season goes on , excellent video once again
Thanks John
Fishing and photography, perfect.
Some of Terry's images you added were amazing.
I love a nice photograph.
Excellent video as always
His photos are next level 👍
Greetings from New Zealand from an ex Ponty resident. Wonderful to see great fishing from what was once a heavily polluted river. Tight lines, Boyo!
You must miss it terribly with no places to fish in NZ 🤣
It's tough, aye. Plenty of great fishing but the fish are not easily caught.@@lindsayiflyfish
Cracking video, lovely to see the quality of fish from the rivers.
Bigger ones to be caught as well!
Hi Lindsay, Really enjoyed your video 👍 It makes a nice change to see you fishing on our fantastic UK rivers, especially as these rivers happen to be in Wales 😀 I have never actually Fly fished on the Rivers Taff or Rhondda …but watching Terry and yourself have certainly motivated me to give it a go during the season. best regards, Wayne
I just wish I lived closer pal.
So do I 😀…due to my work I moved away from Wales many years ago ! Believe it or not, I now work at Grangemouth and will be fishing this weekend at the Avonbank Fishery / Millhall Reservoir tomorrow… not quite a river, but for a small water it is fishing superbly well at the moment in the Scottish sunshine ☀️ regards, Wayne 👍
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
