I love that they stuck with the chamber ensemble for this. The composer did a great job of feeling like Zelda without explicit references. I also love that Hyrule Field is no longer "Link's Theme" but Zelda's theme.
I play the Bb clarinet, bass clarinet, and violin. Experiencing the new music as it comes nearly supersedes the actual gameplay for me. It’s so good, especially the woodwinds!
Honestly, the boss music for ancient ruins near the end did that for me. There was this really epic feel to it and whenever you went into Swordfighter mode and it would overlay that retro 8-bit feel to it and the nostalgia just kicks in.
I am really loving the addition of the chord graphics that are displayed to further illustrate what we are hearing. I wish more channels did this. Great content as always!
The part resembling Kokiri Forest and that other with Mt. Moon, they both sounded so familiar to me when I was playing this game but I had no idea where I heard them before, props for finding the references.
I like how some of the town themes (Goron City, Sea Zora Village, Kakariko Town) use the melody from their Ocarina of Time versions while also creating an entirely new melody Also Eldin Temple is my favourite Dungeon theme
I'm so glad you got to hear the Kakariko Village theme, it never fails to put a smile on my face. Zelda's new "hero theme" in this game is incredible too; I'm glad her lullaby is mixed in. I kinda wanna hear the new theme in the movie when she inevitably does something cool lol
I noticed this too! It's definitely a mashup of the LttP Hyrule Castle theme and the original Dungeon Theme, but the Hyrule Castle theme already has so much of the Dungeon Theme's DNA in it that it's hard to tell until the iconic arpeggiation comes in. Similarly, the Kakariko Village theme has just the barest hint of the intro to the unique Kakariko theme from Twilight Princess right at the beginning before delving into the traditional Kakariko melody.
My favorite part of playing a new Zelda game is listening to the OST. I love the more clarinet and oboe-esc focus on the entire soundtrack. Link’s theme is usually trumpet based to mimic a sort of heroic entrance. But with this game’s theme, it gives a more creative and tinkering tone for Zelda’s wisdom rather than courage. I love that they focused more on Zelda’s wisdom in the music rather than her royalty. It gives so much more room to be creative with more instruments that aren’t rly “regal”. Also bro it’s midnight what u doin 😂
I'm an oboist so this soundtrack has driven me crazy happy! Love the instrumentation in it, super colorful and very woodwind-forward. A woodwind quintet could play a killer arrangement of this soundtrack's best themes.
The soundtrack blew my mind ❤!!! My favorites are Suthorn, Dialog 1(I call it Condes Lament), sea zora village, lanayru temple(😮omg) jabul waters, hyrule ranch. When i first heard Suthorn i remembered made village. I had to start on a cover and literally worked like 12 hrs trying to learn the song on keyboard and ocarina. 😅I'm so slow cuz I'm not to bright. But I finished my cover and it was so fun! I absolutely love this game! My daught was so happy to see princess hero😂
Great vid bro. Haven’t played the game yet but listened to the music. Thinks it’s cool we now have 2 songs that use Zelda’s lullaby’s 3 note sequence in reverse. Ballad of the goddess and Tri’s theme and they did a great job to make tri’s theme also have that Fi theme feeling to it. Noticed how they sometimes use those 3 or 4 note sequence/leitmotifs with small alterations to bring about a nostalgic but also new feeling and that’s the magic of Zelda music. Had that same effect with Ilias theme which was basically a reference to eponas song, only with the second note of 3 note sequence down one key and instead of starting on 1, the third note starts on 1. Love little things like that Keep up the great work 💯🔥
I'm no music expert but I love your channel! I've honestly overlooked some tracks and man you covering them makes me appreciate them much more! There are 4 themes I'm most interested in (SW for those who want to play Echoes themselves) "Jabul Ruins" (Aka the Water Temple) kind of reminds me of Star Wars "Hyrule Castle (Still World)" it makes me feel both curious but unsettled as well, by far my favorite Hyrule Castle theme I think "Faron Temple" this is one of my favorite themes from the game, everything both feels like it goes against itself but still works together in the theme I can't understand "Lanayru Temple" this theme fits so well for the story section around Lanayru Temple, it makes me think more about the characters that surround it I don't know why
So much of this soundtrack just gave me cozy and warm vibes. Almost like Christmas music. Haha. Any of the dungeon themes would be awesome to hear a breakdown of!
Dude I see your channel a lot and I really wish I was at your level. I started late and I have autism. But you my man kudos to you❤I thank you with utmost sincerity because your videos GREATLY help me understand music better.
I love how they use rearrangements to evoke a sense of familliarity in different locations. They've always done it throughout the series to great effect.
"That's the same motion as Zelda's Lullaby." Well, yes, and it is unsurprising because Zelda's Theme is worked in practically everywhere in this game. You can hear it in the overworld music, and it is even more prominent when the overworld undergoes a slight change after a certain point is reached in the game.
I'm not positive but I'm fairly certain that I found your channel shortly after your first vid based solely on me looking up analysis of the (at the time) new totk Zelda music. Anyway that to say, I'm continually impressed with your ability to pick out very subtle musical patterns, and how you've even somehow gotten better at it! Zelda music means so much to me and my family and it's truly a pleasure to see someone else break it down with as much love and care as you do. Thanks so much!
That is awesome. Thanks for watching since the very beginning! Working on getting better at actually teaching music in a succinct but educational and entertaining way. I haven’t “taught” as much as I’d like because I don’t want people to get bored. But I have loved pulling as many cool things from Zelda music as possible and I’ve discovered much more than I ever thought I would.

It's an enjoyable soundtrack for sure. I think I've been most impressed with the effort and fidelity of the instruments themselves... Just feels strange, in a good way, for a topdown game to get such high quality treatment for its soundtrack. I love that Nintendo places such high importance on a game's soundtrack and utilizes a strong sound team of composers, producers, and musicians to make them happen. Some of the compositions hit hard and others less so, but all sound good and feel like they belong. I appreciate your video breaking things down.
What a gorgeous soundtrack! Thank you sir for showing us all these songs and teach us all about music!! The guitar part was so pretty, swoon-worthy, also that kk slider transition was super smooth- awesome music taste! Until next time!~
A track that actually took me a while to find online was the opening intro dungeon music. It's really moody and dynamic with the player starting the game as Link and when you ascend the staircase they add an organ on top of everything to intensify it. They did something similar in Tears of The Kingdom at the beginning and end of the game and it sort of reminded me of the end of Ocarina of Time with the long staircase to the final boss.
I’ll be a little greedy with two suggestions: The reprise of Tri’s theme which plays at the end of the game. I think it’s my favourite song from the whole ost, it drives the emotion of the moment so well and I think it’s the clearest version of the song which you can hear Fi’s leitmotif and potentially some ballad of the goddess which of course has that Zelda’s lullaby connection. The Mt. Lanayru Temple theme. Reminds me of Spirit Tracks, specifically the music which plays in the Tower of Spirits. Really nice theme.
I’d love if you could do a reaction or analysis of the ice dungeon, Mount Lanayru Temple! It’s by far my favorite dungeon theme, and dungeon in general lol. The last phase of the final boss though would be great as well
I hope you analyze the Jabul Waters theme, it’s one of the most relaxing themes in the game in my opinion. Also, I don’t know if I’m going crazy, but I think I hear part of Dragon Roost Island in it!
Hyrule castletown theme makes me waltz all around the living room. I love the driving beat and the castanets. And the instruments sound like the they are having a conversation.
I like how the River Zora village theme uses similar instrumentation to the Goron city theme from BotW and TotK. It just seems like an interesting choice which complements the parallels between the Goron and the river Zora in that they both rely on the mountains in some form. The Gorons live off the minerals within while the river Zora thrive off the waters that flow down presumably from Hebra Mountain.
The "water temple" music is by far my favorite. Overall, the soundtrack feels almost 70's inspired at times. One of my favorite Zelda scores of the franchise.
Liking this video and commenting to help the algorithm. I'm gonna come back later to watch because I still haven't finished the game!!! But this music is gorgeous and I'm excited for your analysis!!!!
If you do another video for Echoes of Wisdom, the dungeon themes are great, particularly Eldin Temple and Gerudo Sanctum. For battle themes, the Dungeon Link Midboss and Final Boss 3 are packed with references.
....I should be playing this game with headphones, I'm missing out. Love the new visualizations on your video, btw! If I could ask though, could you please include numeric indications as well? e.g. for the scale of C, write Fm7 also as iv7?
Loved finally hearing LTTP kakariko village theme used again. Castle town was so sweet too. I wish they had a little more variation in stilled world themes (it's fine that all the minor rifts had the same ones, but it would have been nice if the pre-dungeon parts of the major rifts had their own versions too) but on the whole I quite enjoyed the music in this game. River Zora village reminded me of Tarrey Town; was that just the trombone or how much more is there to it?
You should also speed up the Hyrule castle still world dungeon theme to x1.5 you can really hear the lttp melody that way after you listen to it normally
In the middle of my playthrough and had to jump to this video to look for the River Zora theme because I cannot figure it out for the life of me. I heard a bit of Dragon Roost in the Seasyde Village theme, but I was so lost on this one. Not only did I not notice any Zora's Domain references, but I heard trombone which is used heavily for Gorons in BOTW???
The majority of the temple themes slap but the Eldin temple theme slaps the hardest imo. It has a sexy tango vibe and i love it. You should react to it 🙏

Honestly I wish the music jumped out more to me, a few standout tracks with the River Zora village being my favorite. I was just hoping we’d get a more full return to form on the soundtracks. My favorite songs ever come from the Zelda series
Can’t complain though it is an incredible soundtrack and serviceable to the 2D formula. And yeah definitely not complaining because I don’t want to contribute to the pile of annoying complaints people are making 😂
This is a bad video title because a lot of us may have already thought that Echoes's music was Great without being told so. The video title implies a bias of perception that the consensus for its music is negative, and your goal is to prove otherwise. It is generally understood that Echoes' music is good to begin with, so you simply need to ameliorate that consensus without further need to prove against your own misperceived falsehoods or video titles intended to draw in your audience falsely.
Thanks for the feedback. I try to optimize every title to draw in interest of the viewers who would like the video so more people see and hear Zelda music breakdowns. It's not always going to be ideal, I certainly don't think people think the music is bad, and I do see your point. But for now it's the best title I could think of that makes people want to click.
I love that they stuck with the chamber ensemble for this. The composer did a great job of feeling like Zelda without explicit references. I also love that Hyrule Field is no longer "Link's Theme" but Zelda's theme.

I just finished the game and that final theme is now embedded in my soul. It makes me want to cry tears of joy 😅
Honestly, the boss music for ancient ruins near the end did that for me. There was this really epic feel to it and whenever you went into Swordfighter mode and it would overlay that retro 8-bit feel to it and the nostalgia just kicks in.

The water temple theme is so good. Very Debussy vibes. Also, very John Williams, especially Phantom Menace
lego star wars nostalgia for me lol. the combination of puzzles and star wars-like music just gets it to me
The part resembling Kokiri Forest and that other with Mt. Moon, they both sounded so familiar to me when I was playing this game but I had no idea where I heard them before, props for finding the references.

Absolutely
Probably my favorite theme in this game is the Lanayru Temple theme. It has that perfect balance of charming and mysterious to me.
I loved the Lanayru theme too, probably my favorite of the 'new' themes.

It's not always going to be ideal, I certainly don't think people think the music is bad, and I do see your point. But for now it's the best title I could think of that makes people want to click.
@@ZeldaMusicTheoryI don't believe you intended to make your viewers believe they thought Echoes's music is bad. But that's what you did subliminally.
