I was an Elevator Mechanic at UVM before I retired and have been rooting for for UVM SOCCER for 35 years. I’m happy for My State , my School and my CATAMOUNTS !!
Gotta give the Vermont defender a lot credit for setting up that goal. He made a beautiful steal and then a perfect pass up the side right in stride. He set that whole play up
I'm very happy with UVM and New England as a soccer region overall. Rhode Island made the final in USL but to win in NCAA D1 means a lot. I love Vermont, they have been a good team for so long and for them to finally win it and in the fashion they did is nothing short of incredible.
I was on pins and needles rooting for UVM tonight and this was one of the most exciting CC Finals ever! Congratulations to #1 Vermont from a random Indiana fan!
As a defender, you never leave your feet in that situation. Good awareness and patience on the shot. Can't blame the keeper. They're at such a disadvantage in a 1v1.
As a marshall fan, i dont know why I'm rewatching this heartbreaking loss. 😭 lol. Congrats to Vermont, though. Well deserved by a team that never gave up and made the right plays at the right time.
UVM class of 82! Super proud of this fantastic team achievement! From a tiny university without a mega-dollar sports program; simply incredible! Go cats go!!!!!!
@Mysth_fnhe shouldn’t have been the only one back there even they were in a press. Too much Barcelona And bayern Munich! Marshall meant well, but that was crazy!
My thoughts exactly! Spot on analysis…while you can make the case for the defender to “take it for the team” and slide tackle and take the red card the defender had the attacking player pretty much covered and matched him for his pace. Definitely no need to slide tackle
Dear Marshall, I was supporting you. I was recruited by Georgia State. Dear Marshall defensive back that was next to the Vermont forward who scored the winner, congratulations on getting as far as you did with Marshall. You made the decision to risk it all by lunging to rob the ball from the Vermont forward who went on to score the goal. When I was your age, I might have done the same thing. So, please know that. But, when I saw the replay, the older and more knowledgeable me would simply done my best to stay with him as long as possible without dropping to the floor at all. May this experience bless you in some way. Peace, Miles
I just have to pause and leave this…that announcer calling the game winner- tears rolled down my face as they do now because his elation matched the hard work and grit every university goes thru to win just 1 national title. Enjoy those cold ones boys. Be safe!!
A stunning victory by the unseeded Catamounts of Vermont University as they won their 1st NCAA Men's College Cup in program history with a 2-1 win in sudden death OT over the Thundering Herd of Marshall. No need for Cinderella. Somebody call Blue Lock!
Well deserved win Vermont, Your team defeats Marshall and your team is #1! Now you are members of the "Herd Enough " club in honor of TBT team Herd That. Congratulations Vermont 😊
That poor Marshall center back is going to have nightmares for a long time. Not sure if he just panicked or knew that he didn't have the pace to keep up with the striker and was going to get blown by anyway but damn that's a missed challenge he's not going to forget.
Last goal was 1000% the Marshall coaches fault… why in the world would you have your defense home that high of a line in a “score and win” point of the game?!?
I don't understand why the Marshall back just watched Vermont forward scoring. If he had hustled and tried to cover the goal, the chance of Vermont forward scoring would be lower. You just can't stand there and watch.
@@pierosabroso6500 agreed. He has to know he's 1 v1 on an island there. He has to just delay. Instead, he dives in, doesn't get the ball (or the man), and allows the attacker to go 1 v 1 for the national championship.
I feel like you’re being a bit harsh with this one, think about it for a second the amount of games played and studying simultaneously and then to play 90 minutes and then overtime your body is exhausted and your brain just isn’t thinking straight, everything is relative and sure maybe he could have made a burst to try get there but I’m pretty sure the reason why he made that tackle was because that was the last amount of energy he had left but either way I felt like Vermont could have won the game with the earlier shot that should have been a pass to the guy in the 6 so there’s always going to be stuff someone could have done more or better. For me I also say the comment of delay but let’s be realistic nobody is thinking about these things as much when it’s a split second decision like that these guys aren’t at that level to I’m afraid they’re in college and most college players have never been in a professional environment where the brain is what does more work than the body. So again he could have tried to also delay but from the look of it he was gassed and tried a last ditch tackle while the player he was up against had more energy and I’m guessing was a sub in my opinion once it’s a foot race the defender has already lost unless he’s fast which he probably wasn’t
Center back sliding in that moment... Your job in that moment is to stay involved in that play. Why slide in 1v1 isolated where, if you miss, you are completely out of the play? Just do what every player is taught to do for years, delay. You don't need to win the ball, just stay in front of him, or at least be a nuisance, if he gets in front of you. I understand sliding if the player is in a really dangerous position to shoot right away, but he wasn't, forward still had plenty of work to do and had to cut in after the defender slid. Silly decision making. But, hey, congrats to Vermont. Great game.
Congrats to Vermont . That being said poorly played defensively . 1 on 1 on an island and you go to ground for no reason . and yes, some of you were gonna say that the attacking player had a slight advantage and a speed advantage, and I won’t disagree that the attacking player looked a little bit faster. that being said, you have to positionally know where you’re at on the field and not just fling your body out at an attacking player. I think if he would stood up and keep running with him that would’ve made that significantly harder for the attacking player to score not to say that the player wouldn’t have scored, but I think that Defender would’ve given themselves a much better chance at the very least of recovering if they got beat to possibly clear the ball off the line. I would also remark why was Marshall push so far up? I don’t know if that’s because they were pressing in the other half and they decided to step their line up or if one player was struggling behind others and that left space for the attacking player to exploit
Go Cats Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So why is there more allowance for celebrations in men and women's college soccer than Football. That fan jump at a football game would be a penalty. The performative score routines would be penalties.
Only 2 of the 28 players on the UVM roster are from the state of Vermont, both from the city of Burlington. Meanwhile there are 6 players from Germany. That’s not really a team that Vermonters should get too worked up about.
The best American players go Europe early before college/university. Or if their parents are rich enough, maybe they are in an MLS academy 😅. Although, apparently both these unis have a good amount of foreign players

Gotta give the Vermont defender a lot credit for setting up that goal. He made a beautiful steal and then a perfect pass up the side right in stride. He set that whole play up
Beautiful assist and finish!
Congratulations, UVM! 👏👏👏
Ya the assist doesn’t get enough credit. From a steal at one end to a beautiful ball up the side. He put that whole play in motion
What a wild college cup

One of them is you can't afford MLS academies is to just highly overpreform in high school and get recruited by D1.

In college football [soccer] they count down from 45 minutes per half but stop the clock for injuries, subs, etc. That means there's no stoppage time.
