The most emotionally touching version of this duet I've heard. Other artists singing the same duet have been spectacular technically (vocally) and I remain in awe of their prowess. But this duet hits a home run with me for some reason I don't quite understand.
Ole Nielson Yes he was booed. His singing was frankly not up to his usual standard that night. I believe he was suffering from something. An understudy came on (dressed in jeans) and received great acclaim at the end.
toryisland29 However I don't want this isolated incident to detract from the beauty of this piece nor of his singing in general which makes him one of the greatest tenors of the moment.
Thanks, I can understand that some of the best singers in the world will, and sometimes do, have an off moment (you need only visit UA-cam to find a clip of an operatic superstar who sang a cracked or sour note - sorry, but it happens). La Scala is famed for its audience booing some of the world's best singers - this is a tough audience. Many have the libretto memorized and are so knowledgeable about every opera. It's always difficult to measure up to where multiple takes are spliced together to create a flawless performance in recordings. La Scala audiences expect and demand absolute perfection.

Maybe because they were a married couple at the time they recorded this duet
Une des belles versions de ce duo d'amour mythique !!!
On a vanté ailleurs cette version. Et, je suis venu voir... Je dois avouer que je ne suis pas déçu.
Herzliche Grüsse aus Kamerun.
Besten Dank !
Beautiful 👌❤️
Bravissimi!
Sublime singing. Wonder why so many people hate Roberto Alagna ...
Perhaps because he walked off the stage in La Scala?
Oh, why was that? Was he being booed? More information please, including the reason he may have been booed. Thanks.
