Mets pitching throwing too many hanging sliders cost them the game Diaz threw four consecutive sliders and last one was a 90mph hanging slider Same with megill hanging slider lost game
Outside of the slider against Schwarber, he was off with the slide ball this game… especially outside to the left handed hitters, not close to looking appealing enough to chase. We needed him to get Stott out there, that’s why we paid him $100 million.. and he couldn’t do it. He had off the past two days also.
Why not...?? Stanek pitched 2/3s of an inning ONLY in Game 1, although he did have 28 pitches...Diaz pitch count was 26 from Sunday Game in MIL and then 40 in Game 1 of double header in ATL the next afternoon after travel and lees than 24 hours...
Going forward, it should only be Stanek in the 8th and Diaz in the 9th going forward. Peterson is also is a solid middle reliever if needed. I don't have confidence in everyone else.
@@jonp341 you mean like he's been doing he just a BULLPEN GAME in game 1 Reed, stanek,Marton nor Peterson were available if they were game 2 might have gone differently or maybe if the staff can stop hanging pitches to Harper and castellaños

terrible decision to pitch around Harper. you cant have 2 guys on base like that with essentially intentional walk. can only do that if turner got out imo
I love the Mets but I’m tired of Diaz.. I know you have to take the good with the bad but every time that guy comes in there is no lead big enough to ever feel comfortable.
People know its BASEBALL anything can happen. Just ONE game. Diaz is tired, the long haired kid might have to step up in big spots, he's got electric strike out stuff. No soft tossers for big outs. Got to be Guys with Guts on The Fastball and fade away curve.
Yes, it would have been amazing to take both games in Philadelphia, especially since Nola wasn't pitching, but before the series, the hope was for a split, which is what we got. Now we have a chance to win it at home. Let's go METS!!!!!!
It was a hitters day. No pitcher was safe, I don’t think it matters how Mendy uses his pen, the Phillies were too tough to put down. I’m very confident in this team at home field in citi field. We won’t go back to Philly, we are going out west soon.
As a lifetime Mets fan I have had little to second guess Mendoza. But not letting Butto go a few innings in favor of Diaz in the 7th? Maton and Stanek had pitched day before. Diaz had been heavily used and stretched a couple of times since diving back in with the Braves. Could have Butto pitch into or thru 8th leaving Diaz for closer he is use to?
Bad move to give Diaz that contract, u don’t pay the max to a player that only had one good yr n whom btw had another very bad yr in his 1st season, this is who he is, a jekyl and hyde pitcher

DIAZ Sliders = Walks & HRs = LOSSES DIAZ Heaters = Ks & pop-ups = WINS/SAVES
Diaz is the team's closer, he is not meant to be used in the 7th and even less to also pitch the 8th. If you don't trust the men who got you where you are, leave the team.
Dumb as hell. Facing the heart of the lineup, you bring in your best pitcher in the most high leverage spot. No one believes in the “closers only pitch the 9th” nonsense anymore. Easy to second guess but were you second guessing when he stopped the bleeding against the royals and we came back and won?
he was used there because they considered it the most important inning. needed to get that final out after Butto mess up. And Diaz was able to, but then next inning it fell apart. Shouldnt have pitched around Harper after already having Turner on imo
If every met gm is gonna be like this i’m gonna have a heart attack. I still think they win this series. Except diaz is so unreliable right now, they need a new CL
