My Chemical Romance will always be my favorite band. Something about them. Starting off angry, realizing how they’re hurting, then they grow up and heal with Danger Days. The Kids From Yesterday told everyone that it was time to end, and they finished off strong with Vampire Money, reminding us all that mcr kicks ass and will always carry on. They left us conventional weapons to make our own and help us. Hell, this band will be the death of me.
What do you honestly expect? They're growing and changing and versatile. They're always looking and searching for new sounds because they don't want to be repetitive and always the same. You can't expect them to sound like the little boys they were back during Bullets when they were finding themselves, Revenge when they were discovering themselves and Parade when they took on a whole rock opera, theatrical thing. They're older now, fathers, husbands, changed lives. It's good they're so versatile
The songs released so far are really promising. My chemical romance seem to go from strength to strength despite the odds (Losing two drummers). They are not afraid to go in new directions and experiment with new sounds which makes them one of the most talented bands in the world today, the transitions in their discography speak volumes and are consistently good! This has to be one of the most anticipated albums of 2013.
I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought me Me Your Love will make you scream along. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge will make you head-bang along. The Black Parade will make you cry along. Danger Days will make you dance along. Conventional Weapons will make you do all four.
Been listening since I was 10yrs old, 16yrs old next month. I will never judge these guys, I love them for what they have done for me and I will always scream when I hear their music and dance like the reject that I am. If you are a true member of the MCRmy you'll love all of their songs as much or more than me :) keep supporting these guys and remember everything they have ever done for you!
All this years and they're still my favorite band. I love every single song they've ever released, from Vampires Will Never Hurt You to Na Na Na Na, from Desert Song to Black Dragon Fighting Society, and this Conventional Weapons thing just confirms my love to their music. It doesn't matter what's my mood, there's always a MCR song for me. Thank you so much!
I got disappointed at first (hearing about their break-up), but after reading Gerard's letter, I felt relief. Now I understood how he felt and support the band's decision.
You can really see here where they went with this sort of energy for Danger Days as they scrapped this album. Even recycled lines like Gee’s drawled “baby” showed up in Not That Kinda Girl.
Someone should make one of those videos where everytime he says gun Sponge Bob gets shot "It's "Gun" from MCR but everytime he says Gun Sponge Bob gets shot"
This song is one of my favorites out of all of MCR, but to me it's also one of the saddest. I was in my school's JROTC unit in high school (for my non-US friends, basically it's a "citizenship program" run by retired military personnel and offers extra bumps in rank if you join up after going through the program in high school. Stands for "Junior Reserve Officer Training Program," and if you spotted the fucked up part, congratulations you paid attention to the song!), and was one of the few who was there for PE credits and for the leadership part of the program. I did color guards, drill team sometimes, and volunteered at community events whenever I could. What really struck me at all of these events was just how... sorrowful it all was. We were doing all these things to glorify veterans and military culture, and yet there was just a hollow, empty sorrow to all of it. These vets were all good, grounded people, one even taught us pool! They were all happy to see us, to thank us for being there. But they never once accepted thanks, or responded well to the "thank you for your service" line. They never said it outright, but in the way they spoke, you could feel in your bones the regret, the sorrow, the loss, the sheer weight of waste that these people had seen or suffered. I had never wanted to join the military, but they solidified my decision not to. But that's not all. My classmates in JROTC? Many of them went on to the military. And the ones that did, I saw them change so drastically in those 4 years we were there. They often became enamored with right-wing rhetoric, were excited to fight and fly and run, became rigidly obsessed with being perceived as perfect specimens of humans, rather than thinking about who they wanted to be as people. Some of them became genuine nazis and fascists, spouting racist and queerphobic rhetoric like waterfalls. It broke my heart. And now I hear this song, and it so perfectly captures how they felt when they were recruited, and (though with that classic MCR sarcasm) how I felt about seeing them go down that road. It's a much more powerful song than it might seem on the surface, and I appreciate it more than words can express.
This perfection this love that MCR puts into their songs. Each, but really every song bears the signature: We are here,we love music,we love our fans... We do this together. Give up nothing! Gerard showed me what music is. The first song was what I knew of them, I don't love you. In my heart was a firework... and then I realized what music is. Music is a wonderful thing, something you should share .Und MCR shared it with me, you and the rest of the world.
I just realized .... I've been a member of the MCRmy for 6 years . *I pledge allegiance to the band of the name My Chemical Romance . & to these boys , for which they stand , one fandom , under Frerard , forever sexy , & tickets for us all .*
I heard Ambulance and Gun 3 minutes after they where uploaded. I saw them in my UA-cam feed, and almost had a heart attack I was so exited. Two of my new favorite songs. Love you MCR!!!
The people who still think that this song is in favour of guns make me nervous. I can't be the only one who knows that owning a gun was once seen as a rite of passage for boys as they entered adulthood thus 'become a man' and that is why he says he will never have a son. But that's after you get past "Well, if the world is enough to die for your mistakes."
i am suffering It could be about that. It’s a valid interpretation. :) For me I associate it more with the shootings that were happening-because Sandy Hook happened in November the year the song was released and there was that shooting In that Aurora cinema back in 2012. But it does depend on when exactly they started writing the song so in my mind I also split the difference and just think it’s a general criticism of guns.
@Spades If those are the lyrics I could actually be hearing it wrong/differently then. I didn't pick up the line about the uniform being sewn for example but I did hear "they make em like we give em out to anyone." I just thought that line was about how guns are made and sold easily in America and therefore can wind up in the wrong hands. But you are also right that "We could get somebody else, but we want someone like you" Is a pretty standard military recruitment mentality. This is what I mean that I usually split the difference. I mean wasn't it seen as a rite of passage for young men to sign up for the military during at least the first world war? That's an honest question btw. To me, the overall meaning of the song is to pose the question "Are guns good and is gun violence worth it?" and the answer is "No".
@Spades tge lyrics that most stood out to me were -well if im old enough to die for your mistakes, than lets go -can i bleed enough to fill up what the engine takes, i dont know the first one: a lot of soldiers die in wars, and thats because of the mistakes of a few people that started the war. the second one: that seems to be about oil, so thats pretty obvious
@Spades Yeah, I do agree that the lyrics can be difficult to understand I also think it's a particular problem with the songs from Convention Weapons but I don't think anything could have made it better at the same time. I also like 'Ambulance' the first song from this single, but I arguably have less of an Idea what the lyrics are than I do with 'Gun'. The words are a bit slurred I think and thus hard to define and understand. But it can be a good thing, it makes the songs personal to the individual listener and encourages interesting discussions like this one. MCR's songs also usually have strong imagery which make the songs fun to listen to.

"Gun" was written after meeting many of the men and women who were wounded in Afghanistan, at V.A. hospitals. Very brave people. - Gerard Way
I didn't know that, thank you. Makes sense with the lyrics. MCR & esp Gerard were always visiting people that needed healing.

I heard Ambulance and Gun 3 minutes after they where uploaded. I saw them in my UA-cam feed, and almost had a heart attack I was so exited. Two of my new favorite songs. Love you MCR!!!
Gerard singing "gun" can't get out of my head, every. single. minute.
love this
Yoo 2021? 🤟🏻

I know this is old, but how have I been a fan of mcr for 2 years and never heard of this album?? It slaps
Love this song♥'
no matter what they change, they remain the MCR that I admire.
The people who still think that this song is in favour of guns make me nervous. I can't be the only one who knows that owning a gun was once seen as a rite of passage for boys as they entered adulthood thus 'become a man' and that is why he says he will never have a son.
But that's after you get past "Well, if the world is enough to die for your mistakes."
im pretty sure this song is about the war in the middle east
i am suffering It could be about that.
@Spades tge lyrics that most stood out to me were
-well if im old enough to die for your mistakes, than lets go
-can i bleed enough to fill up what the engine takes, i dont know
the first one: a lot of soldiers die in wars, and thats because of the mistakes of a few people that started the war.
the second one: that seems to be about oil, so thats pretty obvious
"As soon as I get my gun"
background voice: "Don't even have a gun!"
I don't? Oh. Well that may be a problem...
how is it even possible to make music this good?! i love love love love!
I'm not okay, because this song is so epic. This a mix of a little bit of romance, a little bit of pop, and a whole lot of punk!
is this? where the meme is from? amazing
