    Although the number of DevOps jobs are lower compared to developer jobs, the shortage of skilled workers within DevOps is far greater I think. But yeah.... Crazy to think that 10 months ago I was a confused chemical engineering grad who wanted to break into tech. Safe to say I'm happy I followed the advice you gave me in a reply to a comment on one of your videos. I took the DevOps route and working as a junior for a fintech with a 6-12k higher salary than my friends who took the software developer route despite the fact they have a CS degree lol. I truly appreciate the effort you put into your videos. You're the GOAT man.

    How many leetcode algorithms test we need to do in order to pass coding algorithm interview? For a L2-L5 dev team member. Don’t tell me there is no algorithm interviews

      Lol. All of them.
      In all languages.
      Just kidding, I don’t know. I know Facebook and Amazon do leetcode interviews for devops roles but I don’t know how extensive they get.

    May I ask for your opinion about getting OFF a DevOps path?
    After 8 years of PagerDuty alerts, I feel burned out to the core of my soul. No money can buy you a lost health.
    People react weirdly when a senior wants to perform a track switch, accepting less competitive salary etc.
    Is there any viable IT option or I shall search for uranium excavator jobs? :P

    • @DevOpsForDevelopers
      @DevOpsForDevelopers  Рік тому +1

      You can never go wrong pursuing a career in uranium excavation! 🤣🤣🤣
      I completely understand the pager burnout. There are things you can do to minimize that, like addressing the root cause, more staffing, or rearchitecting but all of those require support from upper management. If you’ve exhausted those options, it may be time for a change.
      I don’t think there’s anything negative about that. There are too many exciting options to pursue to feel trapped. If you want to stay in the tech industry, you may consider a staff engineer position or solutions architect. You can even pursue a software dev role or dev advocate and leverage many of the skills you’ve learned in DevOps. Or you may want to leave tech completely.
      In any case, leverage your existing expertise as an asset to a new role. Building and supporting infrastructure for software engineers translates directly to customer and account rep responsibilities. On-call experience demonstrates an ability to think under pressure and meet timelines. Working incidents with immediate repercussions to your actions translates to first responder duties.
      Go for it.
      And if you’re wrong, you know that you have the confidence, courage, and skills to come back to DevOps and succeed.
      Good luck!

      Depends on the country how well you interview, and your negotiation skills, but in the US you could expect $80k+ www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/devops-engineer-salary-SRCH_KO0,15.htm
