The water turned into slush because it was just barely above freezing. That can just happen in the north. Went to go wet a sponge with a bottle of water to clean my car and it turned to slush on the sponge

Because there are so few imperfections in the water, the freezing process doesn’t really have anywhere to start so until the water has ripples or is disturbed, it won’t begin freezing. Pretty cool. You can do it yourself by putting a water bottle in the freezer and making sure your house isn’t too bumpy and then just come back later and pour it over some ice or just snack the water bottle and watch it freeze instantly
