When you're a teenager, Lars and Kirk are awesome. When you're 20-maybe 30 something you mock then cause they're not as great as you wanted them to be when you worshipped then as teenagers and wonder why they wouldn't just practice more and get as good as the players in Megadeth. Then the 3rd stage of acceptance happens where you realize they are still great because of the 1st stage and you still kinda are that same person but you wanted to seem all more sophisticated and shit by liking music that's more difficult to play with an extensive chord vocab, extensive scale knowledge etc. But music is music and you're gonna die and it sure was music you loved and as a result it IS great. Well sort of...I went back and listened to Korn and I'll always think that was a retard move just to be cool. Metallica had some awesome shit.
Sometimes you are just "ON" as a player... I've experienced being at my absolute best, nailing every note super clean and everything firing on all cylinders.. No matter what your level of playing is,...You can have these moments where you are just at your very best for no apparent reason...
2022 has really proven this band is VERY serious about what they do. This is probably the tightest they've played since the late 80s, and I've watched thousands of hours of concerts, and seen them live many times. They have played with hunger. The same hunger they had when they didn't have two nickels to rub together.
It's mortality that they feel, and they want to soak up every moment, and pay their respects to the past... as if they're almost haunted by it. I wouldn't want to go out any way either if I were them. They've conquered it all.

Kirk is a guitar monster! So many people dog him but the dude is almost 60 and still rips on the guitar! Guy is living our dreams and just enjoys being up there!
This is why people need to be careful when they say such person is the best guitarist because anyone of these Metal Gods can show up at any time. This guy has always been one of my favorites.
I still love Kirk Hammett’s style. It’s still uniquely fast but not so focused on shred. It’s got a nice tone that’s not too over the top and always serves the songs perfectly. Understated and even unnecessarily hated the past decade (WTF by the way). It’s like Ringo Starr to the Beatles - kirk is never over the top, it’s just perfect for the band and song.
Sometimes an intro solo shits all over the main solo and this is clearly one of those songs where that is the case. Fuck yeah Kirk now I need this whole concert. Lmao
I was gonna make a joke along the lines of “does that face mean he’s enjoying it or dying?” but stopped myself when I realised how awesome that solo actually is. I’m not much of a solo guy tbh but Kirk’s (and James’s) I’ve always really loved
