Honestly, I think part of the problem with Star Fox as a franchise is the fact it's core gameplay loop that it's known for, the on-rails shooting sections in the arwing, is inherently really limited, and I think Nintendo has always struggled on how to expand upon Star Fox beyond that in ways that it's other major franchises do not struggle with. On top of that, I think Nintendo has always worked with the constraints of their hardware, and that has always been something that has limited how much they've ever done with the arwing outside of either moving on rails or being in a limited map that is the all range mode sections, and maybe the vision a developer has isn't possible on Nintendo's normal constraints. Finally, I think Star Fox has been one of the harder franchises for Nintendo to really nail down an identity on in terms of Aesthetic, Atmosphere and Personality in a way that it doesn't have a struggle with it's other franchises, including it's other major Sci-Fi franchise, Metroid. This is to say I don't think Nintendo has much of any reason it would want to release a Star Fox game, very similar to why they're also hesitant to release another F Zero game, or dare I say another installment of Mother (which is the thing I would want, just saying).
I hate to be that guy, but... Star Fox never amputated their legs. They were always meant to be boots. The only reason people think they have robot legs is because the original puppets on the SNES game boxart just had the skinny armeture skeleton showing. Even in 64 they're just meant to be pointy boots, but because of the poly count they just look thin. The franchise is for sure inconsistent with is designs and worldbuilding, but that certainly isn't one of them.
Thank you! I agree that the Star Fox team hasn't amputated their legs, but are instead wearing boots That said, it would be cool if those boots did have some kind of interesting effect that we knew of
some small issues I have with the video. We know why Andross was evil in 64, he went mad with power and experimented on people (even when asked to stop) and that got him banished. Go from Planet to Planet isn't really aimless in 64 as it's the Star Fox team making their way to venom plus the mission briefings tell you to want you are doing on said planet. I also feel like what we got in 64 for what little characterize we got for these characters was enough to suffice as they give you their basic archetypes for who they are and I think that fits with Nintendo and Miyamoto's way of storytelling. btw the Star Fox team never had metal legs as confirmed by Dylan Cuthbert and Miyamoto themselves. Also calling Dinosaur Planet "Sauria" doesn't really break anything, it's like calling a female fox a vixen. Same animal different name. Still overall a good video with a few minor issues in it.
9:57 I mean considering Fox's origins he fought on foot and he's a mercenary that takes jobs for money. Star Fox Adventures 100% believable to the lore
29:05 no criticism here but I did notice something. Just going based off of your analysis from the beginning of the video up to this point it sounds like u simply enjoy the idea of blowing things up. This is why Star Fox Adventures gets so much criticism. The reason why Star Fox Adventures was so different is bcuz Fox wasn't trying to destroy the planet, his mission was to save it. It's easy to just say "here's an enemy boom" but what I enjoyed about Adventures was it showed Fox is more than just a genocide soldier. He knows how to stay disciplined and actually take it slow *edit 30:00 exactly my analysis was confirmed
24:34. After playing more 3D action and adventure games I can confirm Star Fox Adventures is not a Zelda clone. I've played games like G.O.W. the Arkham Series, I've watched gameplay like Skyrim, Sonic frontiers etc. and I can 100% confirm all of these games had puzzle solving "dungeons" if that's even what u wanna call it, and some rolling techniques. Not a Zelda clone, just a typical 3D game
42:07 but Mario and Zeldo do? No the problem is Nintendo is a corrupted fanbase lol. Mario was 2D then 3D, then is in space, then a race car driver then a sports player...talk about inconsistency. And Link is basically doing the same thing with the same weapons every game...Star Fox >
17:05 ima have to disagree. If u read the Nintendo Power magazine the only inspiration they truly took from Zelda was the idea of puzzle solving but that's literally in every game. As far as other game mechanics such as rolling and the new item animation, almost every game has this. Gow, Mario, DK, Batman etc. 3D adventure games do this a lot so I think it's unfair to single out Star Fox and call it a clone. Nobody ever calls DK and Kirby clones of Mario games
Star Fox is based on Arcade space shooters, which have always been short. How due you evolve a series when the games are short????? The problem is that Arcades have died in 2004. So there isn't any other examples of modern rail shooters for Star Fox to learn from. Thankfully Arcade shooters are still a thing in indie games.
20:29 this was 2002, I highly doubt you've seen better during this time period. We have to compare Star Fox Adventures to games during its era specifically in Nintendo and nobody else was doing it like this
21:00 my man, u are killing me with these Zelda comparisons. Star Fox is a 3D adventure game. There are plenty of games I can say "well Zelda got this from this game" but we don't do that, why? Bcuz we know this is typical 3D games. We can't act like Zelda was the only one doing this and Star Fox completely ripped them off
23:23 I gotta disagree with this. If u want to analyze a game critically u have to analyze the lore. Using the Arwing to travel through space is something Fox has always done. Fighting on foot is also something Fox has always done. There is no inconsistency it's just showcasing everything Fox has done in the past
Alright I'm basically at the end of this video. My final thoughts are u overly praised Star Fox 64, u unfairly compared Star Fox Adventures to Zelda calling it a knock off clone resulting in u overly criticizing it and same goes for Assault. If u actually take a look into Star Fox lore and analyze other games your complaints should logically shift
To me, Assault will always be the definitive finale to the series.
The Star Fox series is certainly a treasure. It will always be near and dear to me.
Enjoyed the video and have a nice day everyone.
Yeah… I remember adoring 64. I remember enjoying Assault at a wal-mart kiosk. This series is great.

If you go to the settings you can remove those words on the bottom of the screen
James is alive in the story it says captured. At the end you see a shooting star that’s James mccloud
12:50 lol his legs were never amputated

Love the videos but the Audio is a little quiet

It reminds me of a video game called Ratchet & Clank. It used to be my favorite. Great video! 💜

I played star Fox 2 and beat Andros
