You make a very good point because the last time I saw it, it had two numbers at both ends like usual. That must have been a very recent thing because it's in SWR's new font. I can only think it might be for visibility when it's coupled up because the numbers can be obscured by the cabling at headlight level, but then it isn't at the end which is coupled up so that somewhat disproves my idea.
@interest5217 no. Southeastern have taken them on, but due to the 701s taking ages to come into service they extended the lease to keep 707024 and 707030, they were given to Southeastern 2 months ago.

Look at the date of the video, it was taken before they left. The title literally says the date it was recorded.
But it was retired last year
