It is so easy to remove the sharpness on the jimping with very fine sandpaper 3000 and The nopp can also be removed. I haven't removed The Nopp on mine but polished the Jimping with sandpaper 3000 and you can't see it but it feels very soft. Thanks for the video 💖
I guess a cme covers it up . Waiting for it to arrive . Can’t stand that nub . Whatever Purpose it serves I can guarantee I ll personally never need it
Grabbed a satin and a dlc version “shaman micarta m4” love em. Awt makes some really nice scales for then that lightens and makes them a bit thinner. But I do have a pm2 in my pocket and too many at home🙈👍🏻
The nub alone would be enough to irritate me. I only have the Spyderco Para Military 2, which I LOVE, and it doesn’t have this problem. I haven’t found anything bad about it yet.
Yep! Definitely annoying. I love my PM2s, only a few things I would change: a little handle contouring, a thinner, grind, and less aggressive jimping. But damn it's popular for a reason Thanks for watching 🙏
@@NocturneKnives I’ve only been collecting knives for less than a year, and the Spyderco Para Military 2 was my 2nd purchase. First was an Emerson CQC-15. Both awesome knives. The CQC-15 has the fastest deployment of any knife I’ve ever handled, including switchblades. Currently my #1 is the WE Shuddan in Damasteel. I had to blow three months’ budget on that one, but it was worth it. The only gripe I have for my Shuddan is the frame lock could be more easily accessible. It’s not difficult to work or anything, but there’s no cut-out to provide easy access, so it takes a bit of pressure unless you hold the knife just right. Otherwise, it’s an awesome beast of a knife. The action is something close to magic. It’s so fast when you break the detent, it seems that the blade just suddenly appears. Thinner side to side than I expected, and feels great in my hand. Thanks for doing videos like this. I also watched your tests for the PM2 in M4. That is a workhorse. My only blade with M4 is my Benchmade Freek.
Always great to see more people making financially irresponsible decisions (aka collecting knives) 😅 That WE sounds pretty killer! Very glad you're enjoying the videos 👊
Jimping on my s30v was also a bit aggressive so I took it down a bit. Noticed it crazy sharp on my m4 like yours but will probably leave it in case I need to saw a tree down, lol.
Oh yeah for sure, totally agree. With gloves jimping is awesome. Personally, I rarely have instance to have gloves on and use my knife. So my preference is little or no jimping, but it's all about personal use Thanks for watching 🙏
I own both and carry the Shaman 3 to 1 over the PM2. If you just fidget and cut paper, the PM2 is the choice, but if you need a sturdy, reliable knife the Shaman is the choice. Personally I didn't even notice the nub until it was shown on youtube. I guess my "man hands" didn't feel the jimping issue...Actually I like it! I still use my PM2 as my "Gentlemans blade".
Dang, PM2 as a gents carry is bold lol! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I know a lot of people prefer the shaman, but personally I like a little more light and slicy. I don't have many hard use duties for me knives Thanks for watching!
The blade hq shaman was my first shaman as well. The things you pointed out were the things I didn't like either. But I like the knife enough to change them. So I got it reground to 10 tho bte and the nub ground off, then I soften all the jimping. Now I do like the pm2 better but my shaman is so amazing now and so good I can't ever see getting rid of it.
Thank you very much for the video! I was SO close to buying the BladeHQ exclusive, but exactly the points that you made would make me dislike the knive for daily usage. Both the jimping and especially the nub would drive me crazy. I really like all the rest of the knife, but this is a total turn-off. So again, thanks for saving me money. I now appreciate my Native Chief in M4 even more! ❤
Great review! I liked and subscribed. Take a dremel to the nub. Use a cut-off wheel to remove most of it, then a sanding drum to make it look perfect. Then take the sanding drum to the corners of the jimping. Before I did those two tweaks, I didn't like my Shaman. After those two tweaks, my Shaman competes with my PM2s for pocket time.
Thanks, Anthony, much appreciated! Yeah I definitely considered those mods, ultimately I think I would prefer a PM2 still; but that's just my preference
@@NocturneKnives I was in the same boat until I bit the bullet and did the mods. I tried and tried to like the shaman, but I just didn't "get it" if that makes any sense. Once I took care of the annoyances, the design finally spoke to me.
Agreed, unfortunately just not a knife I need most of the time. And imo a knife should be comfortable with or without gloves, but that's just my thought
I just got my lefty PM2 and it’s awesome! Feels great having a knife actually designed for a lefty! I can operate right handed compression locks with my left hand pretty easily but I suspect the nub on the shaman would make it practically impossible Great video, you got yourself a new sub!
I just got a Shaman, and yeah it is pretty much impossible to close or open it using the compression lock lefty, but it's such a staple in the Spyderco line up that I had to get it. Been considering a lefty PM2 even though I already have the right variant, hah.
I've owned 2 Shamans BOTH developed horrible grinding action after a day of flicking. Both went back. I know I could have taken apart and fixed but not on a new knife. Never happened on a PM2 or Manix.
Beautiful knives and I enjoy both. But I bet you regret selling the Blade HQ Exclusive Shaman M4. It’s Discontinued and I got offered $600 for mine but I don’t want to sell it.
The Shaman *can* be front flipped, but that does not make it a front flipper. It's very awkward and uncomfortable to front flip, and the jimping on this satin version is so sharp it really starts to cut into your finger after a few attempts. The Shaman was never designed to be a front flipper, that was just a by-product of how the tang is shaped
I hope this doesn't come across as offensive because I don't mean it to be. Do you wear those skinny jeans, because ive never had a problem with the jimping in my pockets. I wear fairly loose jeans. Maybe there's a difference? I personally love the jimping on the shaman. If it doesn't work for you there's nothing wrong with that. Don't compromise on what you like. The great thing about spydercos is if don't like it most of them have great resale value. I got the blue smkw pm2 also. Great knife.
Lol no offense taken, my friend 😂 I wear moderately fitted jeans (with athletic legs jeans I've usually got a somewhat snug fit regardless of cut). The shaman is the only knife I've experienced this issue with. I'm curious, such version do you have? Is the blade stone washed or satin finish? I ask because the stone wash blades (as is on the normal version with S30V steel) have much softer jimping. Thanks for watching 🙏
@@NocturneKnives I have the crucarta, z wear, s90v cf, 4v st Nick's, rex 45, and 15v. The only one I carry is one of my two crucarta with a satin blade. All of the others are safe queens to be passed o to my kids some day. I never noticed the difference between jimping between satin and stone, but that's just me not noticing and what you say makes perfect sense. Btw do you have a kapara? If not I think you might really like it. The kapara gets 90% of my pocket time. Great knife.
Ah very interesting. Good to know it doesn't bother everyone then! I actually owned a Kapara several years ago. I didn't love it then, but that was a phase for me when I was into smaller knives. I think I would really like it more now! That's for the suggestion 🙏
I gotta Shaman, I don't use it, gonna send it back. Stiff opening, can't adjust the pivot, has side to side blade play. I would expect better quality at that price point.
They need a lot of break, and with some careful tuning the action can reach a state of euphoric bliss. But I understand not wanting to put that much effort in. I prefer the PM2 anyway 🙌
first you say there are a lot of things you don't like about it,,then you say, here are the 2 things you don't like about it, i have the pm2, love it, the shaman is a great knife
I actually had a Manix, I didn't love the lock actuation and over all prefer my PM2, so ended up selling it. Really good knife though. I did a sweet skinny mod and that made it really awesome
I have a pm2 in my pocket right now but I would never get rid of my shamans…. Deal with the nub and you learn how or you’re punished for it! No big deal! And the jimping is one of the shaman’s best features! Maybe you need to trade those baby-man hands in for some man paws?
I actually ended up getting another shaman... and removed the nub. It's just a miss all around. I'm not sure what version of the shaman you've handled, but these with the satin finish are another level of aggressive jimping. Glad to hear you like it, but I don't like getting my pockets and hands shredded every time I take my knife out. Thanks for watching 🙏
No way I’d keep a PM2 instead of the Shaman. It’s more like a larger Sage5, (which I also love), than a larger Native. PM2’s, (and PM3’s), just leave me cold. To each his own, I s’pose.
@@NocturneKnives Yep, and that’s cool. Thanks for the content! I own an M4Carta Shaman too, and agree that the top jimping on the satin finish is a little aggressive, but I’ve got reasonably tough hands, so it doesn’t bother me. If it tore up my pants, (hasn’t really), then I’d just knock the edges down myself. I don’t mind “tweaking” my tools to better suit me. Anyway; I recently came close to buying a CruCarta PM2… until I saw what they chose to do with the liners and scales on that model. 🤨👎
I do love modding and customizing my knives, but I was pretty sure I wouldn't ever like the Shaman more than my PM2s, so I just decided to sell and move on
@@NocturneKnives Fair enough. The Shaman is a chonky boi, there’s no getting around that. Either you like it enough to get used to that, or not. It’s all personal preference.
Your action isn't broken in yet. I wouldn't be happy with it either. It will get there in time... Should fall shut with gravity when comp lock pushed. Contouring is amazing. Spyderco should contour everything. Nub is only an issue for first month or so of carry. You learn it and it becomes muscle memory, don't even think about it anymore. Did a nub delete on my first shaman, now I wish i hadn't. Jimping is sharp, yes. Had many jeans destroyed by them. Another issue - too thick bte. Overall it's my top choice for a work knife, but not my choice for edc type carry at all.
A contoured PM2 would be a game changer... Agree with everything you said! Would make a great work knife, but as an EDC it doesn't beat the PM2 Thanks for watching 👍
funny how you were complaining about the "nub" but like three closings in a row, it fell right into place, and if you wanted a less "sharp" jimping, you should have gotten the stonewashed... that knocks down the "sharpness" on the blade, especially in teh spidey hole - where on the PM2, in satin - it's nearly cut my middle finger pad. I have both, and would not sell either - both amazing...
It falls into place if I get the timing right, but imo that's annoying to have to focus on. It's funny that you say this like I'm trying to deceive you about my dislikes?? 😅 I believe I did mention the stone wash blade will have smoother jimping in my video (although not positive on that). Anyway, I definitely mentioned how I could just sand it smoother (recently did that on my Manix and it's real nice). I wanted the M4 blade though and that does not come in a stone wash. For me, the Shaman just doesn't beat out the PM2, good for you if not! Thanks for watching 🙏
Seriously man-uppp! If a manly knife hurts your feelings then maybe you are right not to carry or own one but I sure love mine personally and cannot waaait for the BigBrownBear 15V version to be released as I already got the 15V manix and just Wowww now this is steel lol this 15V and the M398 mule are levels of edge retention that are quite possibly reaching that "never need sharpened" level between the two id pick the 15V because it takes a crisper edge and seems to easily strop to an edge you are scared to touch your skin with because it will bite you and bite deep... Super stoked that Spyderco takes the time to experiment with such nearly impossible to grind steels to appease us knife-nuttz and to run them as a production model with a custom heat treatment protocol up to 65-66HRC no other knife company is doing that other than custom makers lol
Ah yes, that's great advice! If I have a problem with some design feature, just ignore it! Why didn't I think of that? It's interesting that the BBB version you mention wanting actually has a stone wash, which as I mentioned in my video would almost completely solve the jimping issue... Have you ever handled one of the satin versions?? That top jimp is unexcusable in terms of sharpness. And it's not even mostly about hand comfort, it actually makes it difficult to get in pocket and I think would tear your pocket to shreds Anyway, thanks for watching 🙏
::channeling little Hispanic girl from a taco shell commercial:: "Why not both?" I get you though, if you're not in love with it, I get it. The issues with "the nub" and jimping; your knife shouldn't injure the user or cause excessive wear on your clothing. These issues would make this a no-go for me as well, but att least it's going to a new home.
Yeah I just couldn't justify keeping them both, when I know I'll prob never reach for the Shaman over a PM2, even after fixing those issues. The new owner likes it though, so I'm happy about that! Thanks for watching 🙏
@@NocturneKnives sir, that's not how Spyderco works. You get multiples of the same model because of the steel variety, not get rid of *different* models.
Stone washed shaman has much softer jimping and that is the default Shaman. Also Shaman has much stronger blade and tip. If you are into bushcrafting or survival Shaman is a much better knife and PM2.
Yeah I mention about the stone washed jimping, I believe. And yes, for hard use or abuse, the shaman is much better. But if I need that I use a fixed blade. Use the right tool for the job, and all 😉
@@NocturneKnives Fixed blade has it's use and place obviously, but there always is a folder knife in your pack if you're serious about bushcrafting or survival. And Shaman fits that role quite nicely. Yes, I agree, you should definitely use the right tool for the job ;)
Shaman is also way overpriced and not as slicey… I got one pm2, and it’s the lava flow in m4 with dlc and it absolutely rocks for me… never got shaman and never will, manix2 all the way… s30v before all the price hikes and with rain drop carbon scales, tuned to perfection, oh yeah… but the king is the endura4 in k390, absolute beast and everyday carry champ!
I still didn't think I'd like it as much as my PM2s, so I went ahead and passed it along as is; I figure the next owner can mod however they please Thanks for watching 🙏
@@NocturneKnives You misunderstood, sorry I wasn't clear: I was really trying to listen to what you were saying about the pros and cons of this particular knife because I just ordered the DLC version and I'm trying to gather all the information I can find so I know what to watch for. The constant flicking was seriously distracting my attention from the very valid points you were trying to make. I think I can slightly mod mine to eliminate the problem areas you mentioned without too much trouble - though I'll lose the DLC in those areas. To clarify, flicking it a few times to show the action is great but doing it constantly makes it hard to focus on what you're actually saying - which IS valuable input, it's just hard to watch.
Way overpriced knives. Simple sandpaper could fix ever problem you claim. The shaman is a much better blade design for real use. The PM 2 used to love. Now that they want ridiculous prices for a knife that should cost $110. Think of this how can a Chinese company make a PM2 for $20 and still make money? First hear me out! The clone has unknown blade steel , and cheap screws. Yet the clone has G10 some have 9cr18mov. Now when spyderco was asking reasonable prices I didn’t think twice about a clone. Yet $170 or more because they have a different steel is insane. Have you noticed nobody is doing edge retention anymore. Mostly because there isn’t that much difference to warrant the high prices. I used to be one of those people brand and super steel. My grandfathers were both machinists. They told me I was being sucked then proved it to me. Both are gone now. I personally really like the shaman I just can’t justify the price. I have a pm2 and a clone pm2 . I use the clone more. It’s easy to sharpen and gets hair popping sharp easy. My other knife I abuse is a native 5 G10 in s35vn. It was a gift and I’ve never seen another knife like it. It is the most comfortable and best cutter I have. I also don’t understand wanting to fidget with a knife. I prefer lockback knives. Really I always have a coldsteel tri-ad on me. If I’m not carrying the broken skull in xhp I carry the native 5 that’s over 6 years old. Oh forgot to say the PM 2 a good design but the thin point really makes it a light to medium use. The broken skull is lighter more cutting area just a amazing knife that cost $50 when it was new. Anyway after all my ranting you’ll believe whatever your friends tell you. My advice don’t sell your shaman it’s a better knife if (God forbid) something happens. Better to have that thick drop point.
If you watched my entire video, you would know I openly said it would be easy to mod the Shaman to get mostly fix the issues I mentioned. I personally prefer a thinner blade though, I'm not doing hard use. As far as costs go, there's so much more than material cost. You have R&D costs, higher build quality, a company that actually treats their employees well, and spyderco is well known for producing the best heat treatment in the production realm currently. Your ranting aside, I'll believe what the evidence says, both from my own use and comprehensive testing. And fwiw I already sold my Shaman, I prefer the PM2. Again, if you'd watched the entire video, you would know that. Anyway, thanks for watching 🙏 (even if it was only part of it)
Why will guys spend hundreds doing mods to a knife that doesn't need anything but refuse to do minor mods that don't cost anything to make a good knife great? I don't get it
Hey Scott thanks for watching 🙏 I chose to extensively modify the PM2 because I really like it a lot. For the Shaman, you're correct, several of my complaints would be easy mods to fix. But I just don't like the knife as much as the PM2 and I knew that even with those mods I wouldn't keep it. I actually got another Shaman later on (15V version) and really modded the shit out of it. Even then, after making it the best version of the Shaman that I could imagine, I did not like it as much as the PM2. Hope this helps you understand a little.
@@NocturneKnivesI'm not hating on you I have both and I like the pm 2 more also, I see guys on UA-cam spend 300 on scales and clips and whatnot on a 200 knife but scream the shaman isn't perfect, not you but a bunch of other reviewers, I just find it kinda funny, I do agree with that little nub, what is the point of that? Lol
Yeah the nub is a bit perplexing... Have you checked out the Bodacious? It's a great combination of Shaman design language, PM2 thinness, and a full length cutting edge with no nub or choil. I really like mine
@@NocturneKnivesI have and it's on the list, blew my wad for this month, REC exclusive para 3 lightweight, I own the shaman, manix2 and pm2 all rivers edge FDE green blade so I had to jump on the para 3 lightweight, they sell out in half a day, so In a month or so bodacious is on my radar

But why sell a knife ever. I have around 400 or more now. I honestly can’t tell you how many I have. I guess that happens when you impulse buy knives and put them on a shelf. But never have I ever considered selling one. Just shelf it and do some general maintenance here and there.
Honestly not sure if this is satire... If not, most of us don't have unlimited funds for knives. I sell some knives to help buy others that I want more Thanks for watching 👍
@@NocturneKnives im not sure satire is the word you are looking for. But any ways doesn’t make sense to me. It is like buying a gallon of milk and selling it when it’s halfway gone to help buy a gallon of chocolate milk.
I'm somehow still not sure if you're serious or not... Just in case: again, I don't have unlimited funds for knives. Selling some knives helps me fund other knife purchases. That's how most people engage with the knife hobby. I'm glad to hear you can buy as many knives as you like and just keep them on a shelf. I also don't like having knives I don't use
@@NocturneKnives weird. So do you only have one plate, one bowl, one spoon and so on. Have one of all shapes sizes and makes. It’s a life king hobby there is no rush. Just save more money. You don’t need endless money to engage in a hobby. You need time. Looks like you have time. A knife you might like now might be your favorite knife a few years down the road. Then you’re buying it again and spending more money. Makes no sense. Also some knives arent for using. Such as most William henry knives. They are for special occasions. I have knives just for holidays. I have 4 or five of the same knives just because if I have them then someone else doesn’t. That’s why I buy striders when I see striders. I’ve been collecting for going on 15 years now. Some of my knives took me multiple payments to purchase. My 3500 dollar strider sng took me 4 months to pay off. But now I have it and someone else doesn’t have the chance. It’s perfect. This is why I have multiples. I have a closet just for my copies. One of the knives I almost sold (because I was being stupid) was a pm2 tanto exclusive through bhq. Well it didn’t have any branding on it. I hated that idea. But the more I thought about it I realized that I haves the only one of its kind. I called bhq and complained and they returned 100 to my card. So I got a one of a kind for 100 off.
Incredibly, it seems we might just have different preferences and desires when it comes to the knife hobby. There are lots of different knives I'm interested in. I can't buy them all. Waiting isn't really an option because there are always new interesting knives coming out at too fast a pace just to patiently acquire. It's nice that you have the ability and funds to buy without having to sell any; I'm happy to hear it. Your bowl/fork/spoon comparison doesn't really hold water, but regardless: I do have lots of knives in different shapes for different purposes. But I simply can't keep every single one. I absolutely recognize that some knives "aren't meant" to be carried and used, those knives don't appeal to me. I only like buying and keeping knives that I enjoy carrying and using
@@NocturneKnives I wouldn't get rid of any of them. I have multiples of both and they are both great knives in each is own special little way lol. The shaman is a beast of a blade. That blacked out warncliff pm2 you got is sick though.

Always great to see more people making financially irresponsible decisions (aka collecting knives) 😅
That WE sounds pretty killer!
Very glad you're enjoying the videos 👊
You just saved me a ton of money! That nub is a huge no-go for me.
Jimping on my s30v was also a bit aggressive so I took it down a bit. Noticed it crazy sharp on my m4 like yours but will probably leave it in case I need to saw a tree down, lol.
Lol it would be good for that!
Thanks for watching 👍
That rockscale backspacer, is that a black version? Or is that the graphite model?
Graphite is what they call black. This whole set is graphite color
Agree 100%. The pm2 still reigns supreme.
Absolutely 💯
Thanks for watching 🙏
Jymping was made for hard work and able to be used with gloves, a friend of mine’s had a knife with smooth Jymping and slipped got cut pretty badly!
Oh yeah for sure, totally agree. With gloves jimping is awesome. Personally, I rarely have instance to have gloves on and use my knife. So my preference is little or no jimping, but it's all about personal use
Thanks for watching 🙏
I don't have many hard use duties for me knives
Thanks for watching!
I could see it being pretty amazing with those mods!
Thanks for watching 👍
The blade on the cutlery Shoppe version is stonewashed which helps knock down all those sharp edges. I know exactly what you're talkin about
Absolutely!
Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you very much for the video! I was SO close to buying the BladeHQ exclusive, but exactly the points that you made would make me dislike the knive for daily usage. Both the jimping and especially the nub would drive me crazy. I really like all the rest of the knife, but this is a total turn-off. So again, thanks for saving me money. I now appreciate my Native Chief in M4 even more! ❤
I have the same Native Chief! I like it as well.
Very glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching 👍
Great to know
Shaman is a working man’s knife to be used with gloves and a heavy duty knife, it’s not pretty but it does what it needs to do to get the job done
Agreed, unfortunately just not a knife I need most of the time. And imo a knife should be comfortable with or without gloves, but that's just my thought
I disagree. It’s not pretty, it’s handsome.
I just got my lefty PM2 and it’s awesome! Feels great having a knife actually designed for a lefty! I can operate right handed compression locks with my left hand pretty easily but I suspect the nub on the shaman would make it practically impossible
Great video, you got yourself a new sub!
Glad you're enjoying it and thanks for watching 🙏
I just got a Shaman, and yeah it is pretty much impossible to close or open it using the compression lock lefty, but it's such a staple in the Spyderco line up that I had to get it. Been considering a lefty PM2 even though I already have the right variant, hah.
I bet a compression tab would make it way more useable!
I've owned 2 Shamans BOTH developed horrible grinding action after a day of flicking. Both went back. I know I could have taken apart and fixed but not on a new knife. Never happened on a PM2 or Manix.
Huh very strange. Sounds like an issue with the detent, or maybe just some dirt getting on the detent path. Or maybe something loosening up.
The warncliffe para would look nice with the fat carbon artic storm scales.
I have strongly consider doing a scale swap to make that combo! I might do it just to see what it looks like
Beautiful knives and I enjoy both. But I bet you regret selling the Blade HQ Exclusive Shaman M4. It’s Discontinued and I got offered $600 for mine but I don’t want to sell it.
Hey that's pretty cool. I don't like selling things over my cost, so I would not have taken advantage of that. But cool nonetheless 🙌
I have the shaman 15v to sell or trade for par2 15v
MINOR issues for a knife that is more capable that the PM2. The PM2 would be really awesome if the tip wasn't so thin.
More capable for some things, less so for others. All depends on what you need from your knife.
Thanks for watching 🙏
This very sharp jimping on Shaman is for front flipping... U can front flip it...Spyderco Shaman is a front flipper also...
The PM@, the choice of lady-boys who's soft hands and tight pants can't handle some jimping.
Could not have said it better!
@@NocturneKnives 🍻
I gotta Shaman, I don't use it, gonna send it back. Stiff opening, can't adjust the pivot, has side to side blade play. I would expect better quality at that price point.
They need a lot of break, and with some careful tuning the action can reach a state of euphoric bliss. But I understand not wanting to put that much effort in. I prefer the PM2 anyway 🙌
first you say there are a lot of things you don't like about it,,then you say, here are the 2 things you don't like about it, i have the pm2, love it, the shaman is a great knife
Ah yes, thank you for pointing out the discrepancy. I really appreciate it!
Thanks for watching 🙏
Sharp jimping and edges on satin finish spydercos has been a thing for decades, just chamfer it with a sharpening stone
Oh yes I'm well aware. I mentioned similar in my video 👍
Thanks for watching 🙏
The Manix 2 is what you should get
I actually had a Manix, I didn't love the lock actuation and over all prefer my PM2, so ended up selling it.
I understand that preference, I just get more enjoyment from my PM2s
Thanks for watching 👍
@@NocturneKnives Really dig that blacked out Wharnie PM2, btw. If another PM2 is released with a blade like that; I’ll have to get me one.
Would make a great work knife, but as an EDC it doesn't beat the PM2
Thanks for watching 👍
funny how you were complaining about the "nub" but like three closings in a row, it fell right into place, and if you wanted a less "sharp" jimping, you should have gotten the stonewashed... that knocks down the "sharpness" on the blade, especially in teh spidey hole - where on the PM2, in satin - it's nearly cut my middle finger pad. I have both, and would not sell either - both amazing...
It falls into place if I get the timing right, but imo that's annoying to have to focus on. It's funny that you say this like I'm trying to deceive you about my dislikes?? 😅
I believe I did mention the stone wash blade will have smoother jimping in my video (although not positive on that). Anyway, I definitely mentioned how I could just sand it smoother (recently did that on my Manix and it's real nice). I wanted the M4 blade though and that does not come in a stone wash.
For me, the Shaman just doesn't beat out the PM2, good for you if not!
Thanks for watching 🙏
dump them both and get the stretch II in k390
A bold choice... but I like it
I have the shaman, the paramilitary 2 is slightly illegal where I live
How is the Shaman legal but PM2 not?
@NocturneKnives it's actually not I thought it was 3.5 where I lived but it's 4, but if you're driving between states it's something to be mindful of
Seriously man-uppp!
And it's not even mostly about hand comfort, it actually makes it difficult to get in pocket and I think would tear your pocket to shreds
Anyway, thanks for watching 🙏
I need to get me an M4 PM2 it seems.
It's a sick knife! Spyderco does M4 very well
How many times you gonna flip that motherfucker shit!🤔
::channeling little Hispanic girl from a taco shell commercial::
"Why not both?"
I get you though, if you're not in love with it, I get it.
I don't understand the price of the shaman. $240 for s30v. My pm 2 s45v was $80 less.
Most of the cost of the Shaman goes to the contoured handles. There's only a very minimal difference between S30V and S45VN.
"only one knife can stay" - Most nonsensical thing I ever read!
NO man ever said that!
Lol 😂 only one of *these* particular knives!
Yeah I just wanted more slicyness like my PM2s. Loved the ergos though, but it's just not my knife. Those M4 PM2s are all so nice 👍
I have the same issues with the shaman. If it weren’t a dlc blade, I’d take the nub and the gimping down with a small file. I still love the Shaman.
Yes absolutely 💯
Thanks for watching 🙏
Oh brother. Take a ceramic rod and work on it and round off the sharpness. That's what I did.
I still didn't think I'd like it as much as my PM2s, so I went ahead and passed it along as is; I figure the next owner can mod however they please

@@NocturneKnives
You misunderstood, sorry I wasn't clear: I was really trying to listen to what you were saying about the pros and cons of this particular knife because I just ordered the DLC version and I'm trying to gather all the information I can find so I know what to watch for.
I gotcha! I legitimately do appreciated the feedback. Valid point and duly noted 👍
Holy geez my guy constant flicking and opening and closing of the knives, if you tone that down a bit maybe I'd get through a video
Thanks for the note. You're more than welcome to leave from the get-go. I would never want anyone to sit through a video they didn't enjoy 👍
@@NocturneKnives I know, your video is entertaining enough, just not enough to keep me. good stuff
Baby thumb, poop baby.
Well said, friend
Anyway, thanks for watching 🙏 (even if it was only part of it)
@@NocturneKnives can’t fix stupid
Wise words, my friend. Wise words.
The shaman is far better
I preferred the PM2 at this point, but I did just pickup a 15V Shaman and I'm going the full mod route on that one!
Godam, the action sucks on all your Spyderco's. You need to make that drop shot. But yea, Shaman is one chubby sob.,
The Shaman was still in the break in period, as was my wharnie PM2. Currently it drops shut

Why will guys spend hundreds doing mods to a knife that doesn't need anything but refuse to do minor mods that don't cost anything to make a good knife great? I don't get it
Hey Scott thanks for watching 🙏
I chose to extensively modify the PM2 because I really like it a lot.
But why sell a knife ever. I have around 400 or more now. I honestly can’t tell you how many I have. I guess that happens when you impulse buy knives and put them on a shelf. But never have I ever considered selling one. Just shelf it and do some general maintenance here and there.

If not, most of us don't have unlimited funds for knives. I sell some knives to help buy others that I want more
