Literally prepping for a law school interview this week and will def reference this answer structure for the "tell me about yourself" question. Pray for me!
Angela, I watched all your interview videos in preparation for an interview that is my dream job for my current level of experience. I employed almost all of the tactics you recommended. Your video about the best/worst quality questions were particularly helpful. Best interview I've ever had. They called back with an offer only 2 hours after the interview was over. So, I'm giving credit where credit is due. Please accept my sincerest thanks and gratitude. P.S. I love your last name. Any relation to Amy Vorpahl from College Humor?
I'm so glad to hear the video was helpful! If you haven't grabbed it yet, would you like the link to download the "Best Questions to Ask in Law Firm Interviews" free guide? I used those questions in allll my law firm interviews. :)
hi @Angelavorpahi ! In my law school interview, theyll also give us a situation & we have to tell em what we would do to solve it out. why is no one talking about that
Hi Angela, I‘m a patent agent in Taiwan. I‘ve watched “how to make partner in law firm.” Could you share some information about a patent law firm? (e.g., difference between a low firm and a patent law firm)Thank you!
Hi Tiff! So to be honest there's not much of a difference on the operations side of things between a "full-service" law firm (i.e. a law firm that practices a lot of different kinds of law) and a "boutique" law firm (i.e. a law firm that specializes in one kind of law). In a boutique law firm (like a patent law boutique or an IP boutique), all of the attorneys will practice that type of law, which can be cool in the sense that you have a lot of lawyers who are "experts" in practicing that type of law that you can talk with about questions and strategy. But if you're asking more about number of hours billed, and salary + bonuses, and that type of thing, those specifics have more to do with the size of the law firm, the city where the law firm is located, and the types of clients the law firm serves (i.e. businesses vs. individuals). Let me know if that answers your question!
@@AngelaVorpahl Thank you for answering me! Your videos give me a very good insight to my career Actually, my firm is focusing on patent prosecution. There are about 80-120 patent engineers/agents (some of them are team leaders) and 10-15 partners in the firm. Most associate in patent law firm have Work and life balance. The salary+bonus grows very slow (almost 6% per year). There is no “up or out” rule if one can accept the current salary+bonus. For past 15 years, only two associates become partners. I’m considering career transition and wondering if is the firm system healthy.
