      Book maps, folding maps,and gps are all great tools. Pages can come loose from books, the paper can get ripped, torn off, lost, and unexpectedly damaged making it possibly unreadable. Never limit the tools in your tool box. Each are useful.

    😂😂😂I only laugh cause I know for a FACT my boy Jr has no need to look at an atlas. This dude is really trying to let his student learn the right way...

    That was a great class, I really wish someone would teach me how to use the atlas back when I start trucking, good job amigo

    This is a great learning it’s always good to learn different aspects of the game even if you’ll never have use it. It’s all about sharpening the mind to have different tools some school do test you on this before going solo and if you fail they drop you it’s good to know more if you really look at this as a career

    I gotta comment after watching this particular 2 part series of andre trip planning. For the intro, respect is due.. To andre: We treat everyone the same "like family".. we all learn in many different ways whether it takes a whole month.. we there to make sure u get it down to the T.

    Obviously route planning is key . I could only image how detours / construction could interfere. Taking the time to plan correct . Cross referencing with GPS & map . Smart thinking . Great info

    I still use this Atlas and my Thomas guide. I use the Thomas Guide for turn by turn, all you got to do is check the city and it'll give you a page number how simple is that? Also theres a book called "The Next Exit" and might be useful if you're in an area without service, it tells you what is off the interstate exit. Also if you have AAA they give you state maps for free if you are a member. And yes I still use gps but don't like relying on it. It's awesome you're showing us how to use all the tools to get to point A to point B

      Luis Rodriguez fake news

    • @renegadebiker24
      @renegadebiker24 6 років тому +5

      Luis Rodriguez Junior uses a road atlas. To me, as well as maybe Junior, GPS can be a pain in the a**! If you are traveling by yourself in a car, yes, GPS can be beneficial, however, sometimes the GPS can and does get you lost. I can personally attest to that by my own experiences when riding a motorcycle, or even a car. If the GPS is out of date, and needs a firmware update, It usually happens in route. If you plan on being a trucker, you have to be versatile in both learning how to read a map, as well as GPS. However, to rely on the GPS all the time can be a big letdown, if it goes crazy on you and either dies enroute to your destination, or is somehow hijacked by a computer hacker or an Electro magnetic Pulse, or a solar flare.

    I'm doing home time at the moment waiting to get a TNT. ( I didn't have a PSD- Pad inhouse training only in SLC)
    I wish We had been taught in class how to Trip plan, maps, macros, weather, stops etc.( Maybe during the orientation process) Preparing us prior to getting on the road with trainers. Would make it easier for you trainers as well.
    I feel unequipped for the next stage. So I'm doing what I can to educate myself.

  • @chrisreed26
    @chrisreed26 3 роки тому

    I'm old fashioned..I like maps still..sure I use GPS as a guide but I still look on an actual atlas too..I don't understand how anyone could not have map reading skills??!! I guess the younger crowd is used to only Nav and GPS! LIke knowing that 3 number highways are usually spurs around large cities like 295 or 275 (Tampa, my home) and how even numbers go east west odd numbers are North/South..(75 goes from Fl to north and I-4 goes from Tampa to Daytona East-West..I thought all this was just common knowledge but not everyone knows this! If I'm ever a driver I would hope to be trained by Junior as he is the BEST!

      Well, if you have 7months of verifiable experience you will go into your own truck no experience. If you have under 7months you will need to do the TNT. TNT phase will depend on your experience. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍

    A paper atlas is good to use. Learn how to use the trucker's Rand McNally is more important.
    Teach him both.
