  • MNM presents a sneak preview of our new documentary about the secret history of Ancient Africa. "The Legend of Timbuktu" tells about the empires of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai, who became the most advanced civilizations of their time and the first Sub Saharan people to accept Islam, early as 850 A.D..
From great Muslim African leaders like Mansa Musa, who raised Timbuktu to new heights, to Mansa Abubakari II, who crossed the Atlantic Ocean to America nearly 200 years before Christopher Columbus - this critically acclaimed documentary explores African history like never before. Instead of Hollywood making 12 Years a Slave movies we need more movies being made about our true Black heritage of African Kings and Queens along with the Mali Empire! This history is our real Wakanda!

Mansa Musa got filthy rich on gold, ivory and slave trade.
Gold was dug by black slaves, ivory trade almost made elephants go excting and Mali ran the biggest slave market in Africa.

Thank God for UA-cam. This will help black people not born in Africa to feel proud they have African Blood running through them. Europeans love showing Africa in negative light on television. All the commercials of Africa in America and europe is children starving and needing your 10$ every month. I'm from Ghana but raised in America. I use to be ashamed as a child to tell people I was African because europeans protray Africa so bad that Africans were treated bad even by other blacks when I was a kid. In Africa my family is very wealthy. I went to preschool in Ghana in the early 80's. It's recently that children in America are going to prek. I was in Pre K before we moved to NYC. Also in Ghana most parents get private teachers to come to the house to teach their kids after school. In most middle class and rich communities in Ghana most kids have private tutors. I remember the cafeteria lady telling kids eat up your food, there are African kids starving who would love your food. I wish all blacks that never been to Africa will one day be blessed and get a chance to visit Africa. I think it's so important. All black people are a part of Africa to me. When you reach a country where a majority of the people are black and not white you honestly feel at home and wanted. You also feel proud to be black when you see how beautiful it is, and it's nothing like the way it's protrayed in countries where europeans are the majority. Africans love and though the white race has been our downfall, Africans still welcome them with an open arms. Black people have never done anything to white people but they just hate black people so much. We are just created different. Black people are truly Yahweh's children. When you go to Africa and see how they welcome outsiders, it's so different from Europeans and european countries, but they believe they are the civilized ones and we are the barbarics.

+Zarasha1 : You are so correct the Europeans have painted Africa to be very poor and dirty. But l stop believing that LIE many, many years ago when l learned we the so called Negroes where scattered throughout the whole Earth as Bondmen and Bondwomen Deuteronomy 28:68 and continued on to find out that we are the True lost sheep of Yisrael. We are the True BLOODLINE Descendants of Shem, Eber, Abraham, Isaac and Yisrael/Yacov. Shabbat Shalom my Hebrew Yisrealite Misphacha.

Zarasha 1: Beautifully said Sister, and I can see exactly where your coming from. Portrayal of AFRICANS in destitution through the WESTERN MEDIA is an attempt to control and manipulate THE MINDS of ALL. We are a unique people on the EARTH and attuned to the CREATOR'S LAW OF LOVE !!!
I'm not a member of the NATION OF ISLAM - but, I do question the teachings with an OPEN MIND. Why is this RACE LIKE THIS ? Some of their own have also questioned their atrocities upon the EARTH !
I once read from a white man a spiritual teacher, that " If my TRIBE (THE CAUCASIAN) cannot SHOW LOVE, they would be completely WIPED off the face of the EARTH; and this is DIVINE JUSTICE"
Yes, there are some who would HONESTLY admit to their MALEVOLENCE collectively, but, they appear to be few in NUMBER !
      Peace & Blessings.

I can only speak for my ethnic group or tribe but we had very strong religio-political system where you were exiled if you did crimes against humanity such as rape, murder,... What I'm saying is UK saw Africa as goods US as shades of color so forth we have different ethnicities we're not all one homogeneous people it's a continent that's why I say world is less tolerante everything is color now all the original European kingdom with different languages are now wiped off and subjugated to a neo roman empire. I don't care what's attractive to you why are you so obsessed with sex and devalue women only to their body. Mind and Soul is most important.
By dominant features I mean features that are more likely to appear in phenotype when two human zygote (sperm+egg) mix it's not always the case but most times darker skin tone, hair, eye color are more likely to be dominant. The only I generally see the baby exhibiting predominantly lighter skin tone is when the mom is dark funny enough but still the hair color and eye color usually dark. it's like if a blonde reproduces with a brunette most likely kids would have brunette hair but blonde could show back up in their grandkids or great grand kids as a recessive gene. Honestly phenotype is a very fragile and alternating thing to base maltreatment of people except if they've a dominant phenotype gene that takes a lot to erase take the Brazil phenotypic lightening initiative Portugal did it took a lot of years but they eventually erased most trace of predominantly darker shade people till most looked more like Portuguese to them.

Chic Chi you spoke very well just now, you cannot speak for africa as a whole, and neither can cacasians. most of them were against slavery, only the super rich could afford them anyway. You need to see people for more theb just a phenotype, and respect everyone as an individual person is my point. I usually don't date within my race because of that black women are loud and abnoxious from my perspective, and experience and attraction is also a factor when dating Asians and Caucasians tend to be more good looking but that's my own perspective, and intelligent.

Thank you for your wonderful video. My mother introduced us to African History at a early age encouraging us to read and learn all we could. So my love goes back a long way. Knowledge of self creates a energy no one can take away once instilled within you. Once we realize the value we possess it causes a roar of power/pride within us...this "power" is really what they fear hence- the term "stay woke". The change that will take place is inevitable all of us will not be onboard the progress train so, it will leave the stations missing many of us. That is natural and good will triumph over evil and we will rise as the chosen people to lead others out of the darkness. We have been lost and suffered more than any other people on this planet. The universe has punished us is turning day by day against the oppressors of the world. I wanna be able, equipped and ready to push "our" people into a new era of progressive growth centered on our advancement. I am the people forever kissed by the Sun💋💋🌅🌅 and we will not be halted or destroyed.

It is true that the Malian emporer, Abubakari ii, had over 2000 ships constructed to search for new land but there is no evidence to suggest that they made it to the America's however. The Mali empire also had large fleets of war canoes with some measuring 80 feet long and capable of holding 20-120 warriors. Like the Malian ships the Malian war canoes were extremely good at traveling on the water. In fact the Malian war canoe was so good at traveling on the water that when the Portuguese started raiding the West African coast for black slaves in the 1440s and 1450s the Mandika warriors in their massive war canoes were able to decimate the Portuguese raiding parties and the Portuguese were forced to resort to peaceful trade instead. The soldiers of the Mali empire were legendary when it came to using long ranged weapons such as the bow and arrow and javelin or throwing stick and were able to destroy enemies such as the Portuguese and Moroccans even though in all the battles that the Mandika had with the Portuguese and Moroccans the Moroccans and Portuguese were usually armed with guns and cannons. The Mali military is consistently reported to have had about 100000 soldiers who were armed with bow and arrows, swords, lances, javelins, horses and chain mail armor. It was the collapse of both the Mali empire and the even bigger Songhai Empire that allowed the transatlantic slave trade to flourish. Had either one of the empires survived and remained strong the transatlantic slave trade may not have had such a devastating effect on Africa.

+Son Goku It does matter because Islam is not a religion, its a system. In other words, in Islam, there are ways that finances are dealt with, amongst other things. He became the wealthiest man on earth by implementing the laws of Islam in regards to finances.

    • @MJ-cu1nw
      @MJ-cu1nw 8 років тому +3

+MJ 10 Examples. Allah says in the Quran: " And spend in the way of Allah from what We have provided you with before death approaches one of you, and he says, 'My Lord, if only I would have given charity and been among the righteous.' Chapter 63, verse 10. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions "Every Muslim must give charity." His Companions asked him.. "What if he is unable to do so?" He, Muhammad, replied; " Then let him help one who is in desperate need and if he is unable to do that, then let him do good, and refrain from doing evil and that will be an act of charity on his part. Charity does not decrease wealth but increases it." Sahih Muslim and Bukhari: The Traditions Of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). So Mansa Musa was not only the wealthiest but was extremely charitable because of his practice of Islam. The video states this btw. There are numerous verses in the Qur'an and quotes from the Prophet Muhammad that address finances, this includes how to actually sell and purchase goods according to the laws of the Creator, in a way that the seller and the buyer will both benefit greatly. Its A LOT of info... but its out there. I hope you get a chance to learn more if you're interested.

      Malian, Songhai, Bambara history.
There is no black, white, yellow, red history. It's the history of some tribes and nations. For the Greeks and Roman's the Germanic peoples (Anglo Saxons was a tribe of that) were just wild animals who couldn't talk properly. And for the Songhai or mende some other non "civilized" folks were just Barbars.
And for the Vietnamese of confucian tradition the folks who lived in the jungle were also seen as not one of their own.
Its a history of different tribes and nations. The sorting of people along colour lines is largely an angloaxon invention of the 18th century

It's good thing that now African history is put on UA-cam for the world to read for themselves about the past of Africa. However, one fact becomes clear, 1) That new facts imaging about African history. 2) In this video, the facts are not being chronologically stated; historically speaking, Mali Empire was last strongest African empire to come to an end and at the same time the best empire in the world at the time to have existed, with no any doubt, the success of the greatest World Mali Empire was and is credited to the man today we call " Empror Mansa Musa " Read more about Mali Empire if you're interested, it has very interesting history that connected the entire world that will definitely shade some light into world middle ages civilization.

once upon a time there was a king who had three sons all born at the same time. The first was called, Timbya. The second was called bucina. The third was called Tula. The king wanted his three kids to be great leaders. He sent them to the finest schools. But he knew his three sons had to lead and in an era of great turmoil and upheaval, war was always a reality of life. The king called upon his greatest military advisors to teach his sons the lost art of war. All three showed great promise...In fact one showed exceptional insight and vision. Unfortunately, his last child to be born came down with a rare disease that almost made him mentally challenged where just walking and talking became an ordeal. The king would not give up on his third son and still took great, some would say, exceptional care for him. In fact even, surprisingly better care from his first two sons. Which his top aids thought a bit peculiar, because they thought the king was primarily concerned with keeping his power and expanding his reign,
As the decades progressed the country found its self in war and conflict and his first and second sons did exceptionally well on the battlefield. In fact so well the country became to expand into a kingdom and eventually an empire. Unfortunately saboteurs and assassins would try and eventually succeed in killing off
the kings first two sons. Figuring with their departure the kingdom would eventually fall. The first was rumored to have his throat slit while he slept in his bed late at night. The second was believed to have been killed by one of his own men in the mist of a heated battle. But to every ones surprise as the decades continued to pass and no one could figure how the empire was still expanding after each conquest. The king, by the way was long gone, but his third son was an elderly man and still alive. Until on his death bed, he look at one of his aids and for the first time in decades in plain sight began to speak with utter clarity and distinction...never seen before. he whispered in his aids ear with a cleaver grin: it was me that gave both my brothers insight to win each battle are nation had taken part in by expanding are kingdom. His untimely passing was on an ominous night with a blood moon in the sky.
When the king had all three sons sent to finest schools and taught the wisest commanders, it was his third son who showed exceptional skill and knew that eventually someone would try to slay him. By pretending to act as a mentally challenged cripple no one would figure his third son could by anything of a threat and that no one would try and kill him.
The Usual Suspects with Kevin Spacey and Gabriel Brynes....k movie.

    • @keithroy7884

Incorrect. The slave trade to North Africa by Muslims was far more numerous, lasted far longer, and slaves were treated far worse, in fact worked to death, because it was easier to get more, and that was actually stated by Muslim rulers at the time.
All black males were also castrated, so no mixing would occur. Arab slavers were also raiding and capturing white Europeans extensively, and successive Popes sent emissaries to attempt to end this, and other also sent representatives to attempt to ransom back some captives. These people saw the extent of black slaves, and there are many writings and documents telling of what they saw.

@TIM ALI selective breeding by the slave owner. Look at contemporary animal husbandry, the most prolific breeders are kept and allowed to propagate. No different 500 years ago, except that instead of cattle the crop was black people. I would bet that documents could be found showing that some of the most prolific had 30+ offspring for the women. Probably 3 to 5 times that for the most prolific men. A big, stout male would be hired out at stud.
This happened for 200 or so years. And it all stopped after a civil war happened. This all happened over 150 years ago. If you need further information about history the information is out there. You just have to ask the right questions. Happy New Year.

As-salaamu 'alaykum. Excellent! I came across this article which may offer some DNA evidence of Muslims (Moors, Moriscos, Moreno, Maroons, cimarrones (cimarrons),, etc) in Americas before Columbus.
    EXCERPT FROM ARTICLE:
....The researchers note that bones, teeth and DNA yield no clues as to whether someone was a slave or not. Columbus was known to travel with a slave, but it is also possible that the crews included free Africans picked up in the Canary Islands or African migrants to Spain.
"The people on that expedition were reasonably well known by Spanish historians; there were [African] servants of households, but they didn't bring African slaves," said Kathleen A. Deagan, a University of Florida historical archaeologist and author of two books on La Isabela. "There were African sailors on those early expeditions, foot soldiers -- that kind of thing."...

The Staufers in the middle ages highly esteemed the so called black moors, the Brandenburg expedition to the gold coast in late 17th century spoke highly about Ashante, fabte etc. So did Dutch or portuguese traveller's.
It was largely an anglosaxon British invention, pretending there were no african civilizations, because of their
specific type of chattle slavery. And because racism was a big topic on the British island itself. Welsh even meant foreigner and slave, and was used for the Gaelic people after Britain was conquered by the Anglo Saxon. After the Normans conquered Britain another system of racism and apartheid was built for the next 500 years.

First and foremost, Songhai are not Sub-Saharan people, this Westernised terminology needs to be done away with. Songhai are SAHARAN people. They live in the SAHARA. Sub-Saharan means south of the Sahara which Songhai, Touaregs, Some Fulani, some Hausa, some Mande are not.

Sub-Saharan seems like just another racist term to me.

Freudian Slippers, Sub-Saharan African is a racist term because there are multiple "black" groups living in the Sahara classified as Saharan people (for instance check out the Saharan language cluster which includes Kanuri, Nubian, and some other Nilo-Saharan based languages).

jacob 1996 Yes Songhai/Sonrai/Djerma/Zarma/Dendi are located in West Africa, however to be more geographically correct, in the Saharan/Sahelian region of West Africa.

The Mali empire is interesting I do not understand why people have to lie so much about African history this documentary is suggesting that native Americans are some how Africans and that they settled there, when this is no evidence they even made it across the ocean. This video started well but then it left all facts and started saying far fetched claims were facts shame.

Cantiaci, Watch some AncestryDNA videos on UA-cam. Some of the White Americans' "Native American ancestor" shows up as "Mali", instead of Native American.

Cantiaci The oldest bones ever found in the Americas belong to a woman called the Luzia Woman she was African. Her bones are in the Natural Museum of Natural history in Washington DC.
It's been said that those who arrived from Siberia killed off an indigenous earlier group who arrived in America a lot earlier. Apart from the oldest bones being African many sfudied the changing wall paintings in caves. They went from non violent paintings to one's depicting violence during the time of the arrival of those from Siberia. It displayed war breaking out.
And as we've seen in modern times it's easy for one group to displace and replace another. Australia, America, Israel, North Africa, New Zealand, South Africa are all testaments to that. Inside 200 years Australia changed from Aboriginal to European when millions of Aborigines dying.
