I found out that this record existed just a few hours ago in my quest to consume all of Hosono's music. I made an educated guess of "Okay, so this is from the mid 90's and it's a collab with Bill Laswell. I'm gonna guess world music pads, dub bass, and the amen break since that's what was like at the very bleeding edge of hip at the time." Like two minutes in I'm right. Hosono-san you're so fucking cool.

I recently went down the rabbit hole with laswell and his dark dub records but I had no idea this existed. Im guessing laswell sought out hosono for this one? Hosono is pretty high profile. What an interesting collab.
The initial connection might have been through Ryuichi Sakamoto, as Sakamoto appeared on several of Laswell's '80s projects, and Laswell produced his Neo Geo album. Hosono did a couple of tracks for Akasha, the 1995 album of Laswell's Divination project. I suspect Hosono recorded the tracks in Japan and that Laswell may have done some additional work on them.
Ironically you're incorrect, but you do have the artist somewhat correct... YMO, of which Hosono was a member, put in VG samples at the very beginning of their first song, of their first album, in 1978. Song is titled "Computer Game (theme from The Circus)" and the album also included another interlude track with VG samples, from Space Invaders.
This like a guide on how to get synesthesia, or study music for novice glossolalia practitioners. Ffs I feel like I got high and went to the planetarium

@@chrisstille4089 I'm guessing Honey had to stop in the middle of listening, and placed that timestamp so they would know where they were later.
