These Friday tutorials are the BEST way to learn the intricacies of the TK8 panel
Love your TK-Friday. I have been with Tony for years and he continues to improve his TKActions panel. This video really shows how to use the panel. I always learn something new from your videos. Thanks.
Thanks, Dave, A great and useful addition, thanks so much for your effort in offering a weekly set of notes that makes the process of TK 8 understanding so much easier!
I love this TK friday series, i enjoy every episode you upload on your channel, thanks also for introducing the pdf with notes.
I also love this panel created by tony kuyper, and his new linear profiles as well.
Another little thing that made me happy. Today I got the email with the new update v1.2. I think it arrived to all buyers of the TK8 panel.
With this update the new "my action module" was introduced. Now this panel is even more useful. It's great to quickly organize and recall my favorite actions.
Great job guys!
ps:
sorry for my bad English.
Dave, I really like the notes and refer back to them often. I know it takes an effort on your part but also know it is appreciated.
An amazing tour de force of TK8, Dave. You pushed it and yourself to new levels today. An impressive edit on this image all around.
Thank you Tony.
Hi Dave. I just rewatched this episode with your notes in hand. They are extremely helpful. Thank you for providing them. Your "Paint Contrast" explanation was extremely helpful. Thanks for providing the addition detail. I can see how this one feature can easily improve an image with little effort on my part.
Your Notes are evolving in a VERY good and professional 'teacher' way Dave!
Wow, I just keep learning more and more from you. I used to just look forward to Fridays because it was my day off. Now I look forward to them because I get to watch your video in the morning and then immediately practise what I just learned. This video was one of your best. I never quite knew how to use the mask editor but now I really get it! Thanks again for being such a great teacher and sharing your knowledge!
Thank you Carol and Happy Editing.
Wow, first episode in a while and absolutely LOVE the addition of the notes. You’re a legend Dave!
Thank you.
Thanks Dave for another great TK8 tutorial. Definitely love your notes and thanks for all your work preparing them. This session, I particularly liked your explanation of the Paint Contrast tool. Those side bits are very helpful. I'll probably use it more now.
TK Friday brings me happiness every Friday! Another great video, Dave. It is getting better and better every time. I enjoyed this one even better since it provides a summery of your latest tips and few new ones. Also, you worked on a picture of wonderful city of Prague, capitol of my homeland.
Thanks Josef and such a beautiful City...
Thanks Dave,
each of your tutorials bring their share of discovery and this one more particularly allowed me to rework a photo similar to yours. Still looking forward to following the next TK Friday!!!
Another great tutorial. Thanks for explaining paint contrast. I was confused by that prior to your explanation. Love TK Fridays.
Dave, you have a special talent for teaching and I believe beginners and experts alike are waiting for TK Friday. Please make a video to review the full feature. Thanks.
Thanks KP.
Once again Dave, you taught us new editing features! Thanks!
Dave--this one is one of the best. Watched it several times because there are so many useful things I already do in PS but can now do using TK8. And I see how the dodge and burn tool for fine tuning a selection is so much better than the brush tool when you want to clean dark areas of white and white areas of black on a mask.
Thanks Dave for explaining the paint contrast tool. I think I will be using it much more in the future as well as the clarity tool.
Well done Dave. Allow me to note that if working with a RAW image that many of the adjustments you so skillfully complete and teach using the TK Panel are easily accomplished in the newest versions of Light Room and ACR....and of course, one can begin with a Linear Profile as well.
Another winner! Thanks Dave!!👍👍
love the step by step buttons on the PDFs. Easy to follow along and stop the video.
Glad it was helpful!
Your extra info on Paint Contrast is very helpful here! Thanks.
Another great video and am now looking forward to working through the practice image. As always, something new and reinforcement of best practice. Love the PDF notes - please keep them coming. Thank you.
hey Dave,
a great video perfect with many pictures to imitate. Many thanks, greetings from Lübeck Germany from Holger.
Please keep it up.👍
Hola Dave! Amazing tutorial as always!! I was lucky enough to visit that city some years ago!! Cheers!
Keep up the great work Dave, I absolutely love these TK8 Friday tutorials!
More to come!
Happiness is TK Friday! Very easy to follow tutorial with lots of helpful tips; some I knew previously, many were new to me. I am loving your full edit tutorials. Thanks Dave!
Great as always. Thanks for all you do. I especially liked (and learned more about) the "paint contrast" action. Well done!!
Thank you very much!
Dave - the notes are great. And you have done these in a very innovative and clear way. Furthermore - it makes it easy to add additional notes in Adobe Acrobat reader. Thanks!!
Thats good to hear Steve.
Excellent explanations of what why and how for excellent image results
Danke David! For me it's not TK Friday, but TK Weekend
The notes are an excellent road map Dave!
I would like to have all of the TkFriday videos, especially the early ones, so i can be sure I didn't miss any basic concepts. You could make an index with keywords, so that any question I have about a specific tool or application of that tool, could be looked up and see how you applied it in the context of the video. This would be so cool that I would be willing to spend some dollars on such a video. I'm sure many others would also.
Dave - another excellent TK8 tutorial! I watch every week and learn something new with every one so thank you!
I agree happiness is TK Friday!!!! Love having the notes, I use them after the video and redo the edit on my own to help reinforce the lesson and to help build the muscle memory necessary to use the tools. And will use as a reference tool for my favorite editing techniques. Outstanding Dave, thanks again.
Thank you for the tutorial and the cheat sheet. What a great help that will be.
Another great tutorial!
Love the notes
Thanks again for the notes.
Appreciated, TK Friday Editing!
Again, Great stuff! Thanks! And yes the notes are a great asset.
Hi Dave. Great tutorial again. The pdf files are great, please keep supplying them. Also easy to understand format of pdf notes.
Thanks Brian, will do!
Thanks Dave
Again very helpful. Thanks.
Dave - I gave up on PS quite a while ago as it was just too difficult to mask, etc. LRc still does a pretty good job for me but between you and Tony PS has become a much more usable product. Thanks for all the good videos and notes.
That is great to hear Hal.
Excellent tutorial, Dave. I love the pdf file that you created!👍
Another excellent tutorial Dave. Now with the processing notes and images we can truely complete the learning process “ To do is to understand “
Thank you magical understanding
It’s great that you demonstrated some additional TK tools Dave, especially (for me) the button with the arrow and square bracket. Inverting the action to soften the clouds is also a very useful tip. Have you tried combining a vignette with a luminosity mask to prevent shadows blocking out?
I have Keith and that works well too.
Hello Dave Excellent tutorial, the notes are even clearer with only icons, I have progressed enormously with the TK8 panel thanks to TK Friday, thank you make us discover the use of the TK panel on a city.
Definately like notes!
It would be really wonderful if we could use TK Action tools and masks to make new PS Actions. Just a thought.
Thanks! Everything works on Vegas 18!
Thanks
Thanks!
Thank you Steve.
I just realized, that in the "revers clarity" the "revers" button has to be the one in the middle of the panel, next to the "stamp visible", not the one inside the selection group.
I hope sometime in the future, you can explain what is the difference in between this 2 "invers" button.
Thanks Dave, the notes are superb and very much appreciated. The use of the mask selection icon in the reverse clarity action was something I had not appreciated before and saves having to get back to the my channels button so thanks for that. Have you had a look at the latest TK8 update yet, of course you have, I like the new My Actions plugin.
Another great lesson, Dave. Thanks. I am curious why you never use select and mask to refine selections. It's not working on photoshop the last couple of days but normally is a great way to refine a selection and makes all of the adjustments after that work better.
I find that often I don’t need it but sometimes I do. For instance, in this image, the Sky Mask and Foreground Mask were ok without the refinement and the little bit of feathering on the edges was OK. When I needed to do the reverse clarity that is where the Select and Mask would have come in but I took care of it with the Layer Mask Mode Refinement tools.
Another fantastic tutorial Dave. I wonder if we can change the calendar so every day of the week is a Friday?
Thanks Barney.
Great tutorial as usual, Dave. Thank you. Since sometimes you ask for suggestions, I have one for you, perhaps with the help of Tony. I wonder if you could illustrate the technique called "photo bashing" and how it differs from compositing for creative expression. I would be curious to know how the TK8 panel can facilitate the process. A toll order suggestion, I know, but I also know that you can handle it :) Thank you and Tony for any consideration to this idea.
“Photo Bashing” I never heard of it, I will have to check it out.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks!
Dave,
Early in the edit you “Set yourself up for success” by selecting the sky, and the foreground. After this, you worked on the Foreground using a “Mids-3” mask using the Mask Calculator to make a selection of just the Foreground to add contrast. My question is why do you have to use the mask calculator to select the foreground - why can’t you just use the foreground in the Channel you saved? I assume it’s because you need to use this channel multiple times. However, could you not just right click on the Foreground Channel and duplicate it (rename the 2nd Foreground Channel) and use that instead. It’s a lot faster than using the Mask Calculator. Are you doing this to just demonstrate the Mask Calculator or am I missing something and is what I am saying incorrect?
Also I want to acknowledge the quality of this tutorial, it just wonderful (as all of your videos are) especially the detail regarding how to add contrast selectively. Just outstanding Dave from beginning to end. Thanks Dave - Mario
You are correct that I knew that I needed to use the mask multiple times. I needed the Mids 3 to protect me from clipping shadows and highlights. I needed the mask calculator to remove the sky so it wouldn’t be effecting my Mids 3 Foreground selection. I also mentioned an alternate way of doing this in my PDF notes by using an Intersection Calculation with the Mask Calculator. With the Intersect calculation I could have Intersected Mids 3 with the Foreground Channel. A work around for not using the Mask calculator would be to apply a Mids 3 to a Color Grading Tool Layer and place that layer in a Group and apply the Foreground Channel to the Group Mask with the Apply Mask Icon on the CX or Combo panel. This would be a Mask the Mask Technique. As you can see, there are so many ways of doing the same thing in Photoshop… If I didn’t need a Mids 3 Mask for Highlight and Shadow clipping I could have done it the way you are suggesting…
Dave, I can't seem to find the images you work on to download and work on them. Where are they at the bottom? Thanks.
Larry
They are in the Videos Description. You need to Click on (Show More) and you will find it...It will be in the sixth line of information and the PDF Notes download is right under it.
Thanks!
Thank you Patrick.
Thanks!
I am very appreciative of videos and your teaching style. Particularly TK Friday and the associated PDF notes. Thank you.
Thank you Laura.
