Just a short and sweet pep talk to keep you going when you're writing! Comment below with other inspiring words you want to share with fellow writers to keep each other motivated!
YESSSSS! I need to watch this like 5x a day to keep reminding myself of this! ❤️❤️❤️ I’ve definitely been pushing myself and having super high expectations without fully enjoying the journey. Your analogy is so perfect and I loved being able to visualize it with you while you hike! Thanks Mandi!!
⚠️ warning long but good! 😁 Well I’m kind of like Trevor Walker that commented. I am turning 54 in a week and it has been my dream to write since I was a teenager. God had other plans like raising and homeschooling 3 children, and being a Christian counselor. Kids are all grown and I’m on the verge of retiring from counseling. I needed to figure out the next chapter of my life. I began to peruse writing, quickly became overwhelmed when I created a website, began blogging and started a small side business to support my writing adventure as I work my way out of counseling. The blogging and monetizing my brand was kicking my rumpus and I almost gave up. The thoughts of self publishing or even traditional publishing was scaring the bazuzzles out of me. I then discovered low content writing and will have 4 low content books published by the end of this month. This got me over the fears of publishing a book and inspired me to work more on my book writing. I tell my clients all the time to deal with one thing at time. The key is to grow no matter what, so set goals for the day and if you only check off one goal you accomplished something and you are one step closer to freedom. I take this same concept for writing. Mandi, I love the mountains and was raised in them, so I use them for my examples to clients all the time. First of all, thank you for the encouragement. You have been a huge inspiration for me. Second, climbing the mountain is a Journey some spots are easy and some are rough, but we don’t stop, because we can’t wait to see that view. Once I’m at the top and can see the view, there I can take a breath and breath in all that I accomplished. Once that breath has been taken, then I can celebrate my journey and rejoice in the tough spots. Mandi, just like you climbed that mountain you can achieve what ever you set out to do. You’re not stuck, you are just taking a breath. Your journey continues and the next celebration is just over the horizon. Be blessed sweet girl! Happy writing everyone!!
Great advice Mandi!! The process of your passion is most important. All the ups and downs are part of the process. The downs are where the learning is made, and adjustments can be made..... take a break, take time for yourself, make small goals/steps (as those can be completed easier; and yet, they bring you ahead). You have the superpower of setting your own goals! Give yourself extra time for big deadlines/goals. You are an amazing young woman, who many at your age have not figured out what you analyzed in this wonderful video.
I'm 65. Almost 12 months ago I decided to write a book. I have always wanted to write a novel; science fiction and fantasy were my go-to reads. So I started researching how to write by interrogating the internet and found some wonderful authortubers who offered great advice. I started with a blank piece of paper. I wrote down ideas, bits of dialogue, scenarios etc. I have now written 63,000 words and I'm roughly 3/4 into the story (Act 3 approaches !). the latter part of Act 2 is hard ....... but I have written 63,000 words of historical steampunk adventure If anyone had told me 5 years ago I could achieve that, I would have laughed at them. So, by taking one step at a time, breaking down the plot into manageable chunks we get there. Never give up !! If an old guy like me can do - so can you :-)
@@MandiLynnWrites No thank you. It's because your inspirational support and others that I took the plunge. Only time will tell if I have to confidence to self publish ......... Impostor syndrome is real and it's a constant battle but one worth fighting !!
@@varrickace465 Thank you, Varrick. I will be attempting to set up an author platform over the coming months under my pen name ........ marketing is the achilles heel of the introvert writer, I'm afraid.
Thank you for posting this Mandi :) Your analogy is spot on. And those views :D My contribution is: "If you can't beat the fear, just do it scared." I saw this on Will Smith's Instagram yesterday and it really hit home for me. I lived 50+ years trying to run from my anxiety. A couple years ago it caught up with me and I started having panic attacks. I went to therapy and started meditation. I'm not cured, nor do I think I ever will be, but I my panic attacks have stopped and I'm now able to face things I couldn't before. All our lives are constant works in progress. We try, we fail, we try again. Sometimes, we just have to do the hard things while we're scared.
Love this!! Thank you so much for creating this pep talk!! It reminds me of the idea too that the fun is in the process/journey--the hike up to the top is just as great, if not more memorable, than the peak.
Got to enjoy the journey and not just the destination. Otherwise you will never be satisfied. Your reach your goals way less time in life than you do pursuing them.
Thank you for this pep talk. I needed it this morning. Lately, I think I've set too many daily goals for myself and I hardly accomplish any of them simply because I get so easily distracted. But I'm going to try again, little by little. And that's really the best way - little by little. Start with what I *know* I can accomplish today.

Love that saying! And thank you so much for sharing!
Such a beautiful and intelligent mind. True connections in life are far and in between. Whoever wins (or has won) your heart is one lucky man.
I love writing pep talk videos! If only it were longer!
Might have to do a part 2 eventually!
Definitely needed to hear this, and i love the analogy!
