My dreads on the bottom I've had since mid April of this year. The top half I've only have for probably about 4 months. I do not wash my dreads. I did once about a month ago but I have so many loops I started hating my hair. I do have a mixture spray I made of distilled water, esp salt, tea tree oil, and lavender for scent. And sometimes I will put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in. But I've been debating on actually washing them. The build up isn't super bad. But I feel like it's horrible. I would like to try the tighting oil you owe but I'm worried my dreads will shrink more than I'd like.them too. Any thoughts? I wish I could should you a picture.
Hi Chandra, thanks for your message! We recommend to not wash/make your dreads wet the first 4 weeks when you first have the dreads. But after that it is recommended to wash them occasionally (once a week or less, depends on what you prefer) Do you get maintenance done one your dreads every couple of months? That is important because especially when they are still baby dreads they need to get tighter in the process and an occasional touch up will help with this. Also it is important to palm roll your dreads, this will also keep them from shrinking too much, keeps loose hairs in your dreads and make them tighter, you can use a product then doing this. The conditioning oil is not so much to tighten your dreads, it helps prevent dandruff, dry scalp and other skin irritations. For tightening you can use Tightening Spray, Tightening Gel, Creme or Pomade. These will help to tighten your dreads and keep loose hairs with your dreads. If you have more questions please let us know :)

Does the Dr Bronners soap leave a residue? Or do you use the liquid to wash that off?
I recommend to use dollylocks or RAW ROOTs products for your dreads, those leave no residue.
