How to turn off traction control and Abs on a smart car (451) Did You Know Smart Car #1

My Smart is a 2010 Fortwo Passion Cabriolet 1.0 turbo
Please do head my warning in this video, both traction control AND Abs are deactivated whilst the exclamation mark flashes and until you turn off the car.

I just came across this video looking for another issue with my smart and MAN I WISH I HAD KNOWN THIS A WEEK AGO!!! We got an icestorm here in Texas and my smart wasn't able to hang. traction control got me in more trouble than not. Either way thank you so much for this upload because I just figured there was no way to turn it off.

This works on my 08 Smart Fortwo. I find you have to switch the key on (motor off) for a few seconds. Then turn the key off. Then hold the buttons down and turn the key on as in the video. It works consistently for me this way and has not worked with out first turning the key on without holding the buttons.

I have tried this on my Canadian 2013 Passion and it doesn't seem to work? Would they have changed something in the programing for the updated 451? There are some minor exterior changes.

So I assume it’s difficult to turn off the stupid ESP but to keep ABS, if you want to turn off ESP you have too loose ABS, at least without some hackery

My wife's ABS light came on today , so if I use your info this will clear the Warning lights ? Have the yearly test on Monday !!

No it won't clear it I'm afraid.

@@TheQashqaiGuy But your video clearly shows the ABS light out after restarting, this is on a Smart 451 too ! Can I pull a fuse so no light showing ? No problem here with Snow etc ! S.E .Spain .

It'll most likely be a issue with the reductor rings on the back.
