  • Hey Guys!
Here's my reaction to The Mummy from 1999. I'm really surprised I've never seen this one before because this type of action/adventure movie is right up my alley. The film is fast paced from beginning to end, and left me on the edge of my seat through out. The story is very unique and well written, overall I really liked it and would re-watch it again :)

It depends on the terrain, horses are faster on solid ground, but camels have splayed hooves that are faster on sand

Camels are also much better at conserving their stamina in the arid climate

8:40 Horses tend to have trouble on sandy terrain like that. Camels are able to traverse it much better.

This movie is much better than the god awful 2017 reboot starring Tom Cruise, which took itself way too seriously.
Director Stephen Sommers drew inspiration from not only the original 1932 film but also called it a cross between Indiana "Jones Meets Jason And The Argonauts or Clash Of The Titans meets The Ten Commandments." This was his first blockbuster hit after his last film DEEP RISING bombed at the box office.
Wes Craven, John Landis, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Clive Barker, George Romero, and Mick Garris were all considered for making a remake of the movie since 1993.
Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Tom Cruise, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, and Matt Damon were considered for the lead till Fraser was cast.
The film was a box office success, making $420 million dollars ($700 million today) against a $75 million dollar budget.

In fact if I recall, the films were made soon after each other, so the prison scene where he had long hair was his first for this film, as it matched his hair as George

This is a question I see people ask in Mummy reaction videos often.
Horses are much faster than camels, BUT, on sand where the horse's narrow hoof will cut in and sink into the sand, the camel's wide flat foot covers more surface area allowing it to more easily run on sand. Also the camel has humps that contian water allowing it to run for longer without getting worn out and over heated where as a horse will be working twice as hard to run in the sand, getting worn out faster.

I know it would be a reaction to a reaction, but three Egyptologists have reacted to this film (two people in one video, one in the other). Very little about the film is historically accurate, and it's kind of fun to watch them cringe their way through the film.
    It's still a fun, exciting film. 👍

Hi Caroline hope you are doing good hope you have a wonderful May the 4th (Star Wars Day lol) Also as an Idea for a movie you can watch maybe watch the movie George of the jungle and the sequel George of the jungle 2 both are good funny films and the main star is actually from this film I wont say who cause I want it to surprise lol.😊👍💕

I saw this movie in the theaters when it first came out and loved it just like I love it even now all these years later. This is the first time I saw Rachel Weiz and Arnorld Voloso who plays the mummy. It was nice to hear hebrew in the movie though it makes sense because of the Jews being slaves to Pharoh in Egypt. The thing with the cat is he's scared of them because they are the guardians of the underworld but on a side note it's also the form of Basat the godess of love and fertility as well. They saw cats as gods and that is why the kings and queens always had a cat by their side.
The scarab gets a bad name in this movie but in reality in the Anciant Egyption lore they are symbols of resurection and power. The actor of the head Majai those that protected the tomb is actually an Isralie actor by the name of Oded Fehr.
Good reaction and you jumped in the same places most people do which is interesting. The locus they used were real on set so they were actually all over the actor for real and also the scene where she drops the bookcases like dominos was done in one shot and if something had gone wrong they would have had to do so all over again. Also apparently the scene where Rick was hung and was chocking that was real because Brandon really did almost choke to death...he was turning purple and Rachel yelled for them to cut him down so they did so majour screw up on their part oops. Also when they were running out of the city of the dead the set reslly was falling apart around the actors even the collums when they were outside already so no stunt doubles there it was actually the actors running away.

My (now deceased) wife, Debbie, and I viewed this one upon its original theatrical release, and since I currently own the DVD trilogy along w/ the Tom Cruise version and all of the 1930s through '50s franchise issues, this probably bewrays my strong interest in the series. Incidentally, my spouse worked for a time @ a CPA firm in which Brendan Fraser was a client and she acquired his autograph, so that's one of my inherited (and somewhat prized) possessions of hers.
