UA-cam We just closed on a home in Vero Beach and will be relocating from California. I did a lot of research into beach communities all over Florida looking for the perfect place to retire. After visiting other cities and narrowing our choices, we decided on Vero Beach for its smaller community feel, lack of development and its expansive, uncrowded beaches. Vero Beach is also more affordable than other beach communities we looked at. We found we could get more for our money and be closer to the beach than we could in Sarasota, Naples, and the cities around Ft Lauderdale. Jennifer Bailey was our realtor for this home purchase. I can’t say how much we enjoyed working with her. I honestly believe she put our needs ahead of just making a quick sale. It wasn’t easy buying a home from 2600 miles away. But it sure helped having a realtor that was super responsive. Also, if you’re a remote buyer like us, be sure to get a realtor that’s willing to do lots of video walk-throughs. Jennifer saved us a lot of time and money showing us properties on Facetime.
Thanks for all your help Jennifer! I’m so glad I reached out after seeing you on UA-cam.

Does the dog beach mean they can actually go on the beach to play in the water? I am struggling finding a “beach” that my dog can actually play and run on.
*Yes, absolutely!* - Walton Rocks beach is an off leash and there's many people and pets that are roaming and playing in the water. Great place for pooches and fun in the water and the beach.
I spent 4 months researching myself the best place in Florida to build a new home and retire. Vero Beach came out on top. This community checks a lot of boxes for retired people, I am surprised you left out the great medical, the local markets, and all the recreation that can be had on the ICW. When I retire in March I want to stay active year round and Vero is perfect for that. Our new GHO home should be done by April.
I think there’s a great lots of things :). I think I’ll be able to make several part 2s of the pros of living in Vero 😊. Congrats on your upcoming new home!! How very exciting !!
@@amyhawk3803 We love it. After two years of living here and exploring all of Florida I believe we did hit the sweet spot. I moved to Vero six years ago from CT. Your "cons" are very accurate and should be taken seriously by anyone planning to move here. The shopping is indeed terrible. I was never a great one for shopping, so I thought. Apparently, I took all the shopping within close proximity to my small town in CT for granted. Here in Vero, there are two kinds of stores, high end and low end for everything, clothes, furniture, etc. The selection is terrible. There are really two Veros. The barrier island and the mainland. The island has high end stores with expensive clothes that only fit tall thin people, expensive restaurants and expensive home goods stores. That's also where the beaches are. And it's that area that is shown in most videos. On the mainland, the clothing stores are mostly low-end discount places. When Macy's, Talbots and J.C. Penney (I think). left the mall, finding clothes became nearly impossible for me because I'm quite short. Driving over an hour to find decent malls that give a shopper choices is not fun. Ocean Drive on the island is usually the area shown on videos. Coming from New England, I really miss having a town center. Downtown Vero Beach city was rather depressed 6 years ago and just when things were turning around, COVID hit. Many small boutiques went out of business. The population here is old, and mind you I'm retired. This makes driving dangerous. Elderly drivers are a safety hazard. I had to sneak into my father's house and take his car keys after he drove up the wrong side of a major road. This is a great place to live if you like to play golf and tennis and then go to bed at nine.
Love your feedback. Yeah the shopping is eh but I still love this town. Golf and tennis is a treat here too like you said. Only 1.5 hour either North or South and one could find loads of shopping, not real convenient but my husband and I like to make a day trip of it when we do go. I have been able to find a few nice clothing finds for a good price at TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Ross sometimes too, Bealls and Target I go to pretty often as well. Thank you for watching my video! This video should be relabeled 19 pros to live in Vero Beach! Great place to retire!
Who wants all that hype big business, too many people and overpriced stuff! The last time I checked bugs live everywhere! And I don’t mind driving to Costco!
I love your point of view. I don’t mind any of it either. Love our little town :)
Family owned businesses, perfect because I’m not a fan of the big chains..
We love our small beach town. 😁 if you haven’t visited before come on down. It’s a wonderful area.
Ohh yeah the mall sucks hehehe
yeah... it's not good
Con number one about living in Vero Beach. People that moved to Vero and complain about nothing too do and know where to shop. Con number 2 Transplants from the northern states over crowding the city.
I'm in Palm Beach down south. Northerners are crowding us out here as well. And their horrible driving is like grrrr!
No Jazz Music…no dancing
No snow? How is that a con? Lol
