What was interesting for me as a more of an observer of the game rather than a fan (although was leaning to the Irish side), I'm amazed that both teams could have won it, and neither team was on point. A few quite rare handling errors from Ireland, poor line out, a quite good scrum but obviously second place to the boks pack at scrum time for the most part. SA had a few handles errors themselves, the missed kicks were ruinous for them and their penalty count was too high. I think this game was the biggest test so far, I don't recall how the path will look, but I can really only see it being between SA, IRE, FRA or NZ.
@@user-ls3yo8sb5u you mean the human that keeps the game going? I choose not to be a total pissy fan and gripe about every decision made ever. Its boring and I don't want rugby to turn into the NFL...
Congratulations to Ireland. You were better than us today. Hopefully, we'll play each other again in this World Cup. Good luck against Scotland and with the knockout games. There's no reason Ireland shouldn't reach the finals.

Got to love Jacques Nienaber! Sharp insights, realistic and diplomatic. I love the way he calls the Irish the Number One in the World... the Irish refer to the Springboks as World Champions!
So proud of both teams, this is what rugby is all about. Massive intensity, speed, commitment, power against power, a few line breaks and yet none lead to a try due to amazing defense cover from both sides. Also amazing with that physicality and speed, there were so few infringements and almost no injuries. And what was a delight was the lack of kicking and thus way more time with ball in hand and great rucking and counter rucking. If you want a masterclass in how rugby can be played by the best in the world, this was it! Congrats to both teams, Ireland in their victory and South Africa in their amazing performance. And in all of this, it was just a group game, SA have Tonga and Ireland moreso have Scotland to beat before reaching QF's and then if both teams continue to play to their best and avoid major injuries, we could get a replay of today for the world cup final.
Brilliant clean game of Rugby, even the way the two teams embraced each other at the end after spending 80 minutes tearing each other to shreds. I fkin love our game. And no injuries on either side after that bruiser of a game, that's also impressive.
Could not agree more. Was extremely impressed by Ireland's fitness as well. Van der Flier's tackling, breakdown nuisance and jackling. He probably is the best flanker in the world. 12 Penalties conceded by the Boks, we could have lost by more on that count.
@@westscotindex8972 both sides will improve, Irelands lineout was shocking but we have Dan Sheehan back from now on. Same with SA kicking poor but you have Polard back from now on. We could very easily meet in the final, long way to go but i wouldnt be surprised.
@@RazorMouth You lost the majority of those lineouts in the first 20 minutes I think. The fact that the players could find the on field solution for that and lose very few afterwards is very revealing. Yeah, maybe with Pollard. However, we cannot win WC playing like 2019. That is why we are trying the backline a bit, and we make the mistakes in backline play because we rarely play with it in the first place. The Boks of the 90s had brilliant backline play, then of course came Heyneke Meyer with the Bulls and Jake White with the Boks saying that bashing rugby is all we have ever known. Ireland is more of a complete team. Just don't underestimate NZ. They have superior ball skills to us.
This is why i love and respect the Boks. My Boks. Admitting defeat, pointing out and admitting own errors and short commings for the game and praising the opposition who deserved a brilliant win. Next game will bring the Boks back. WITH A KICKER PLEAAASE. God Bless.

As a British Fijian and an Irish fan, I respect and love the South African team, especially captain Siya. All the best in your next game and Godspeed ❤
Manie is a great player but his greatest weakness in this tournament is the one thing we need him to be better at. This game had the hallmarks of a final and ultimately it was the goalkicking that cost us the game. Fortunately it was a group game but if anything, this game showed us why we need an in form goalkicker going forward.
@@stephanswanepoel2448 Typically I wouldnt agree, but in this game I agree, they should have gone for the lineout considering our poor kicking form. Although that doesnt guarantee points, I think on the balance of probabilities, we would have had better success had we gone for the lineout. Going forward though, I do think Pollard needs to come in and the last game against Tonga is the ideal preparation. Games will only get tighter and tries will become more scarce once the tournament progresses beyond the group stages which is why we need an 80%+ goalkicker.
@@stephanswanepoel2448 finals are generally close fought contests and the winner could be decided by a penalty. It is more damaging to South Africa and Manie I feel, if he is thrust into the deep end and it ultimately costs us the title due to his poor kicking form. I personally dont think it is worth the gamble.
@@stephanswanepoel2448 Manie's poor kicking has been an issue before the WC even started, it was not a once off. We simply cannot kick at 20%, to put it into perspective, SA beat Wales in the semi finals in 2019 by 19-16, with Handre Pollard slotting 5/5 kicks. Had he kicked at 20%, at best the score would have been 19-8 and SA wouod have been eliminated. Continuing with someone kicking that poorly is suicidal for the team and the player himself.
Blessing in disguise because now we have the wounded Boks.. It's a big wake up call.🙄and I think they will pull up their socks, sort out the kicking and go on to win the rugby world cup.. Big respect and hats off to Ireland, congratulations.
I said the exact same thing to my mates, Ireland help 2 humble and go back to the drawing board. If we won this game, it would have gone to our heads so I'm actually happy we lost but with a bonus point
Siya Kolisi seems like a humble, honest, balanced and mature captain for the Springboks to have. And his experience from last WC will stand well for future pool games and beyond.
@@MorrisdeSaucer No im talking about fans and media shouting about SA defence and Ireland wont be able to cope..... Irelands defence is just as good, we dont leak many tries.

Fly our flag high in France and best wishes for the upcoming match against Tonga. One door closing means another door opens. Love you guys, every single one of you.
As a NZ fan, I have to say that both Jacques and Sia are both all class in the way they conduct themselves in these interviews, unlike our smug head coach!
This is good for NZ as the AB’s are flying under the radar, and for one of the few world Cups the ABs are not rated, get to the quarters, then anything can happen on the day, in this World Cup each of matches between the top teams is a bit of lottery.
Not a Foster fan, but he was nothing but class when we lost the Irish series in NZ last year. Irish fans were complimentary on how NZ team and fans handled that series loss.
The NZ coach comes across as smug, on occasions, but I think he’s masking his lack of confidence and coaching disabilities by being so. Anyway, the fans of both Ireland and the SAFFA’s are lost in their brotherhood for each other, judging by their posts. But they will be in for a shock when they meet France. I see France smashing, bashing and thrashing whomever they encounter along the way to claiming the W.E RWC.
Congratulations Ireland. You were really excellent!!! Wishing you all the best as you proceed in the tournament. Hopefully, if all goes well, we'll meet in the final. 👏👏👏
@@SolomnJordaanI hope they come back but we will probably play France in the quarter final unfortunately- you guys will most likely play the all blacks in the quarters- I dont see the home side losing in the quarters- so called 50/50 decisions ...the referee will probably favour France as well and their whistling crowd will not help- let's wait and see but I think Ireland have a great chance now to go all the way- not sure whether French will win three in a row

I was physically sick during this game with stress. Man, what a game. And it is true, ir was not the kickers alone that lost the game, our beloved boks could just not run it out when in Ireland's quarters. So Boks, fullsteam forward for Tonga. We still love you to pieces.
SA cannot go into the knockout stages without a reliable kicker. We left 11 points on the pitch and until Nienaber and Rassie admit that, and fix that we stand a good chance of not advancing beyond the quarters. The Irish were very disciplined and played brilliant Test rugby.
Well done to Ireland - they deserve the win as they were superior at the breakdown and kicked better. The loss hurts but hopefully we can take some lessons from it. All the best to both teams for what lies ahead.
No injuries thats a big plus for the team. The springboks is still in the competition all is not lost but cut back on the mistakes the long range kicks again did not work for the springboks but that is a lesson learned two tries went lost then the set kickings again did not work again. So let stay possitive guys. We will play France after Tonga.

Sorry Jacques, the goal kicking question is valid!. People have said leading up to the world cup that this will be an issue. Tight test matches are won on small margins. We created a lot of opportunities to score, a few 50/50 calls, but in the end did not capitalize on that. 11 points left out in the cold!
Would you stop! IRE left points behind to. They played like world no.1's! All the chat all week... first chance to show some balls you went for the 3pts!! 😂😂😂😂 Said it all! Not as confident as you talk... doesnt suprise me personally, ive competed against Boks before. Mega jaws! Arrogant as fook. 😂😂😂
The Bokke were not serious about winning. That's why they didn't kick into the corners, like against the AB's.When they do that, you'll know they mean business. The test here was to see whether we could stop their attacks. And yes,we can.Their only success was playing wide and counter attacks.
What a game. Ireland you were fantastic. Congratulations. It was a 50-50, separated by the quality of goal kicking - the Boks definitely have a challenge in this department. Another thing I noted which made me uneasy early on that this wasnt going our way - our body language and the expression of most of our players was one of worry and lacking confidence. Lift the chins and keep the chest out boys. Believe in yourself, no matter the scoreboard!

Exactly. The ref made game changing calls in favour of Ireland

No cards in that game is unreal!
not clean. shoulder charge on psdt and arendse tackled while in the air. No yellow/red cards, not even sited.

Ireland went for line outs , it didn’t work to well for them , should have kicked the points .
@@thenorthman9599 Dont you have anything valuable to contribute. Your emotional outbursts warrants specialist's attention.

This is good for NZ as the AB’s are flying under the radar, and for one of the few world Cups the ABs are not rated, get to the quarters, then anything can happen on the day, in this World Cup each of matches between the top teams is a bit of lottery.
