If the shop assistant looks at you blankly when you ask for a 7mm Allen key (like mine did), try asking for a Brake Caliper Tool. It's an extra large 7mm Allen key with a chunky plastic handle for about £6.99.
Good video but boy I thought I was a heavy breather 😂👍 this is exactly as I’d do I’m doing this at the wknd and I’ll be painting mine too nice job 👍 I’ll be putting Dingbro cheapest ones I can find on as a test to see how long they last for
Hi Mervyn, very basic question: where did you put the axle stands? Is there a designated area? The other day I lifted my car (Duster MK1 1.6 petrol) but I was unsure where to put the axle stands. Appreciate your feedback! Thanks.
Where abouts did you place axel stands? And if i were to jack up the rear where can i place jack stands to have the rear in the air? Im going to be refurbing my wheels and dont fancy leaving it up on just the jack but i cant see good points to put the stands..cheers in advance.
Hi Merv ... what make and number parts did you use ? .. I assume that by ESP you mean traction control .. Do you have a ESP switch inside your Duster ... ? I Have the 4WD but no ESP switch inside the car ... ?
I am pretty sure you will have an ESP switch, mine was one of the first imported ( Indian assembled ) and is fairly basic. For parts I used Euro Car Parts, just put in your vehicle reg and it will provide options from different manufacturers. I went mid range but will probably go for Brembo next. By the way, you ESP switch is tiny and inconspicuous, just to the right of your 4wd selector.
Hi Merv .... Yeah I have looked .. I have two blanking panels for switches to the right of the 4wd selector ... ? I dont even have a ESP light on the warning lights, when I turn the ignition on .. Mines a 2013 4wd x 2wd
Merv ... I now have the original invoice ... ESP was an additional extra which has been crossed off my invoice ... So 4wd without ESP .... My Car is 2013 so may well be at the mid point of a facelift as the 2014 was slightly different, which hasn't helped me getting a parcel shelf for it, it's been very difficult to see what shelf fit's it ....
Good work, I'll doing the same job myself in the coming weeks. Like you I've opted to use mid range parts (Bosch in my case). Have you looked at the rear brakes yet? It's very frustrating how fast the brake drums become rusty and how scruffy they then look.
Yes, I think I'll be investing in getting the brake drums on my Duster powder coated. That way hopefully the rust will stay away longer. Don't know if you've come across this but replacement brake drums for a 4x4 are hard to find and very expensive compared with those for two wheel drive Dusters. Down to them being less common?
Hi Merve I have a problem that is suffered by several on Dacia forum can you help. esp. light and electrical light on. go off for a while then come back on, engine looses power when on. my mechanic is stumped. costs a fortune to have it looked at only to have the fault return. would love a video on solving this cheers.
I'm sorry but electronics are not really my thing. What I have noticed taking the wheels on & off is the ABS sensor wire can easily be damaged, just a thought and worth a check.
Thank you. I'm helping a mate out later this week to change his discs and pads, so this was useful.
Pleased it helped.
Good video, very informative, but I'm not seeing any pad wear indicator light sensors? Thanks again
Great video and nicely done. Only one bad thing, don't hang the caliper on the brake line.
Couldn't agree with you more, point well made.

Very good tutorial...
Brilliant video thank you. Did you ever do rear brake shoes on a Duster. I have a 2021 1.5 diesel.
I haven't done them yet but at 107,000 miles they are due.
Helpful video... But do you have tutorial video on how to change a Renault Duster 2014 automatic Gear Knob selector?
Just come across this as I'm doing this job myself this weekend. Very informative and looks fairly simple
Glad it helped

Pretty sure I managed to place them under the main front sub frame chassis runners.
Where do you put your jack stands?

Just a quick question. Can I do this job with the handbrake on or off?
Handbrake on, you want to reduce any possible movement when you have a wheel in the air.

Have you looked at the rear brakes yet? It's very frustrating how fast the brake drums become rusty and how scruffy they then look.
Yes, I cleaned the rear brakes earlier this year and have also painted the rear drums, couldn't stand looking at the rust anymore!

Have you had any judder since fitting these Pagids?
Also you didn't fit the spring clip at the end!!
No judder but rest assured the clip was fitted!

Would this be very similar on a Dacia Logan?
Exactly the same
You don't actually need to split the caliper, so no need for 7mm Allen key
Funny, I have a 2010 Duster and the calipers are nothing like it.
But I can tell you that a MKI cmax has identical calipers.
We didn't receive the Duster in the UK until 2013 and these were mainly from India and not Romania.
47 years in motor trade and and can't be arsed painting anything lol
Check out quality UK made brake pads and discs at www.gozacarparts.co.uk where we sell specifically Dacia Aftermarket parts.
Not bad video but shouldn’t be leaving your caliper hanging on the brake pipe
True, has been mentioned before and I am fully aware of the the incorrect way I have showed this.
