I remember Pong. We thought it was the most awesome thing ever. My uncle had one at my grandmother’s house and we played the heck out of it. My first console was the Atari with PacMan, Space Invaders & Qbert. My dad had died on Thanksgiving day 1983 and my mom’s uncle gave her the money to get the Atari for my two sisters and me for Christmas that year. I think Minecraft is my fav although I’m into Vintage Story at the moment. Also, just wanted to say Thanks, Dreyma for everything…the entertainment, the inspiration, the laughs and all the rest!
I haven't tried Vintage Story BamaGP. I'll have to have a look at it, it keeps popping up in my feed. Seems like you are a seasoned games traveller too!
The first game I remember playing was called survival on the sinclair spectrum, it had a cassette tape that needed loading and didn't always work! In the game you were an animal and had to survive by eating. Currantly I'm playing minecraft (of course), city skylines 1 and phasmophobia, 3 rather different games. It's nice to hear your gaming journey
Oh, the nostalgia! Thank you, lovely lady, for the walk down memory lane. First game I played was also pong, but the first ‘real’ game for me was….dun dun dun…ZORK. Lol I was 12, and my aunt had one of the original pc’s, with Zork. I was hooked. Worked all thru high school to be able to buy my own computer, just to be able to play it again! Played so many of the Infocom games, until kids, hubby and life stole most of the gaming time. And the kids and I loved Myst and still revisit it, together. Then, several years ago, Markus, my son, introduced me to Minecraft, on his household server. That hook struck again and I insisted that we needed to be able to play together, when we were on vacation, so he created a public server. That original world is where we still play, with Cora and a few others who are have found us. It is updated as they drop, so I am still swimming happily along, adding the new blocks to my builds, as I continue to create my imagination. So many memories. And now, I have multiple soundtracks running thru my head. Thanks for that! 🤪 lol
Suzi I didn't know about Zork. That one completely flew past me. Have just been reading up on it - I think I would have loved that. Sounds like you've been on this journey about as long as I have! And it's excellent that your family Minecraft server is still going.
My brothers and I started on an Atari 2600 playing pong. We worked into Intellivision and Utopia was the go to list every chance we got. Then my youngest brother got a Tandy Color computer and he insisted Dungeons of Daggorath was the best game ever invented. Side note… Recently he made me play until beat the wizard. That’s about 40 hours of my life I’ll never get back!! lol. I grew out of games until Donkey Kong country had me captivated for months until my daughter was born then all video games went on the back burner until Roller Coater Tycoon. I pretty much lived and breathed that game until I realized my young daughter needed a more present adult in the house. Then years later my brother insisted I join them playing MineCraft. I resisted for a few weeks then they walked me through version 1.12 and I was forever hooked! I still play a few hours a week and it’s my favorite way to relax. Your videos always inspire me to try new things and challenge myself to build more interesting and exciting things!! I love hearing your journey! Thanks for sharing!! 😍
I remember starting my first mincraft world I wanted a railway however with my skills being non existence I used a tutorial Yours I loved the style you had and eventually I had a full railway in which being a Thomas the tank engine fan I just used another colour for edward Gordon and james. Thank you for my childhood joy
Damn, my first video game console was a Gameboy color, or probably Nintendo 64 I can't really remember. And I remember when you had to "Insert Disc 2" for some games on Playstation. We've come so far.
The first console we got was an Atari 2600. The first games I can remember were Pong and Night Driver. The first arcade games I remember playing were Space Invaders and Battle Zone. Battle Zone was also at our local swimming pool and we played it after going swimming in high school. The first Pc I got was a Dragon 32. I thought "32k of memory.... I will never used that" 😂 It saved and loaded games with a tape recorder. I bought a 4 pen printer/plotter as that was cheaper than a dot-matrix printer at the time.. I couldn't afford to get a BBC computer, which I really wanted. When I got a proper PC I remember playing Deus X ... What a great game that was for it's time. I'm sure I played other games before this but none spring to mind. The only game I play on the PC now is Minecraft. Nice vid.
Ah memories of memory Spoon! Go back and watch Johnny Mnemonic and they have him carrying 420mb in his brain because only the human mind can carry such a large amount 😆 (still a good film though). I loved Deus X! Totally forgot about that one. It really was a great game.
Hi Dreyma, i got into gaming late .. i started on PS2 with spyro & the sims 2 when i finally got a pc it was solitaire & blade runner {i still have it all boxed with the companion book} .. i didn't take to MC at first & left it for years until a friend got me to join his server & now it's my go to comfort game .. but i have & still do play MMO's too im pretty eclectic where most things are concerned & games are no exception
Spyro was a lot of fun Clare. I didn't get to play the Blade Runner game, much as I wanted to, I think the kids were little so I was starved for time when it came out. Nothing wrong with being eclectic, gives a taste of lots of different things.
Before Pong entered our house, i had a copy of an Apple II computer.....no hard drive, no floppy. Games were simple and the code was typed in with meticulous accuracy, or they didn't work. Then we got the box for pong, space invaders (i think that's what it was called....spaceships shooting your craft and you had to shoot them or avoid). Most games were of the table top vaiety with boards and pieces back then, but never DnD. I got my first console in 1995, Sega megadrive II. Still have it here somewhere - i was a very new mum, so never really got to play it much, and i forget the name of my fav game. All i do remember is that i never completed it. First PC was windows 95 in (in 1996), where i spent many hours playing Jewels of the Oracle. less combat, more puzzle solving - which was more my thing back then. Kids had PS1, PS2, PS3, which i basically never touched till they got me hooked on Minecraft. My kids, nephews, kid's friends.....we all got stuck into it (and i bought my own console).....Then my son decided to take the game off peaceful mode and my dislike of creepers emerged. One of my boys bought me a PS$ so we could play About the Update Aquatic, i switched to Java edition and haven't looked back since. But gaming friends (Clare and AK, looking at you) got me into Elder Scrolls Online. Yjen others hooked me into Enshrouded, New World, and now Bauldur's Gate 3..... So i'm a 'newcomer' to most games and gaming in general. I guess i'm making up for all my 'lost years'!
I didn't know you play Enshrouded Julie! What do you think of the new update? I've had a little look around (time is the issue) and did the Ancient Spire for fast travel. And I don't know if I am happy about having animals, or annoyed because they keep eating all their food! Having kids really puts a stop to gaming for a while, but then they make up for it by introducing Minecraft - seems both of us got here because of our kids!
@@Dreymasmith Not sure i like the feeding animals all the time in game either....especially since milk/wool are linked to feeding....but i'm slowly getting the gear for going into the colder climes...it's slow going since i only found one source for silver atm.
No Tombraider!? Remember in Thief, one guard says to the other 'i'm going to the bear pits tomorrow' me and brothers still say that to each other from time to time. lol. I love sims and minecraft.
I should have mentioned Tombraider Jess. I played that at my sister's house because she had the PS1. Is that Benny that said that about the bear pits? He said so many crazy things. I love that he ended up being in charge of the city guard dog kennels.
I remember watching a friend's husband play. And he asked us to keep an eye out for secrets and stashes....but one time something jumped out at his character and i screamed ( the accompanying jump put me well above the chair). Which made him jump and scared him!
My parents had (and still have) strong opinions about video games, so it was something extremely limited at my house growing up. I bought my first console when I was 18 and even than still hit it in my closet. PCs were another thing and I build my first one with my dad when I was 9 or 10 years old, but of course it was never the idea that I would use it much for gaming. one of the few games I did end up having was Commander Keen, but jumped-and-run just isn't for me, though I did give it a good try for way too many hours. Myst and Riven though were what hooked me completely, I believe I even still have my notes for the puzzles and I know for sure I still have the novels and I always wanted to try writing my own world book. I did resist the NULP shirts though xD At Uni I studied Computer Science and found out that others had no such restrictions as my household and it took me over a decade to allow myself to say I'm a gamer and not feel like a fraud.
Like you, Pong was the first game I played...I was not impressed. Then game the arcade games...Frogger, Pac-Man, Galaga was my favorite, but again, I wasn't really hooked. My first true PC game was Lost in Time, you were transported to the past and had to find your way back. You picked up objects and merged them with other objects to Macgver your way through. That one hooked me but they never made a follow up game. Played some Nintendo with the kids mostly Mario games, they were fun but I didn't have much time for games back then. I first became seriously hooked on games playing Puzzle Pirates online. I would play every chance I got. I loved that game. After that I mostly played Time Management games on Game House...still play them every once in a while. Once I got hooked on Minecraft back in 2009, I never looked back. I sometimes relax with Stardew Valley (and I am looking forward to his next game Haunted Chocolatier) but ultimately it's about placing blocks!
Lost in Time sounds like a lot of fun Art. And Stardew Valley has surprising depth and unexpectedly bleak storylines. I do like it, and like you I'm looking forward to the next offering. But yeah, I think a lot of us have our true home in Minecraft.
I do indeed use shaders RymanHu. Complimentary Reimagined is what I've settled on because it gives me the look I want with the clarity I need. I especially love what it does to the End sky. Permanent purple auroras - just gorgeous. But there are plenty out there to choose from.
I wasn't a pong person, plus I'm a little younger than that 😂 but I did start with the Intellivision system. With games like BurgerTime and Night Stalker, those were my originals. Of course there were plenty more. And I've been "hooked" on consoles ever since, going thru all the Nintendo systems and finally Xbox (currently Series X). One of my favorites, from back in the day, was Illusion of Gaia on the Super Nintendo. Loved that game and played a ton of hours. Another was Golden Eye on the N64. At the time, it was considered the best FPS and probably the "father" of online FPS we have today, even though it wasn't online. Nowadays, I stick to Minecraft, War Thunder or some RPG (Elder Scrolls, Red Dead Redemption, or the like). But definitely enjoy playing on console even if for some games, there could be some drawbacks but usually pretty close.
You didn't miss anything with Pong William. Night Stalker was a really good game. There are a LOT of excellent games on consoles. We are spoilt for choice.
I just came across this video and i really like it so far. Looking forward to more vids from you!
