WillFoxification Reviews 2023
Just would like to point out as a huge LOTR fan that the sword is still Narsil in this shattered state its not Andúril yet, it becomes Andúril when its reforged in the Return of the King.
Clutch knowledge. Thanks!
Appreciate that you are calling out the flaws and not just calling it amazing across the board.
Thanks bro! Yes, I always do my best to be fair and balanced.
Thanks for rushing to get this review out so fast! I'm always interested to see different views on the same figure. Can't wait to receive mine! Keep putting in that 1/6 sweat equity, Will! Well done
Thanks so much, Kevin! Appreciate it bro!
Great review Will! Loved your honesty in the review and what you liked and disliked. Definitely looking forward to get this guy to go along with Gandalf. I really hope they do Legolas and Gimli.
bro thank you! I hear they will!
Man I get mine in a few weeks! And I really appreciate you pointing out the flaws.. This will be my 3rd Inart figure and they do have their problems but the overall look is incredible! Oh and price... 😂
nice! Yeah the price isn't easy to swallow.
Great review as always Will! I was on the fence about canceling this one after I saw the release pics of the sculpt but your video just convinced me to keep it! Mine is coming from Specfiction tho so who knows when I’ll get it lol.
Also, the sword that this figure has is his ranger sword, which he used throughout Fellowship and Two Towers, and briefly at the start of King. It’s not actually Anduril reforged, which he gets at the start of the third film. Interestingly, in the books, Narsil is reforged into Anduril in Fellowship and he carries it all throughout the trilogy, but the filmmakers decided to push it to the last film to give it more dramatic weight. I realize it’s super nerdy to be so specific and know these things lol but I still wanted to share cause it’s something not really made clear in the movies or known in general!
I’m hoping we get a RotK Aragorn in his battle outfit with Anduril. That’s a dream piece for me for sure!
Haha thanks bro! Yes, the full sword is not Anduril, that's the broken sword. Thanks for the info!
Good job Will, and nice work with the hair - you've levelled up.
From what I'm seeing, a 9/10 seems just about right. The likeness looks a lot better here than in some of the other reviews. While it may have lost some the HD factor from the prototype, in some respects - mostly the eyes - I think it looks a little better. The only issue I can see, in addition to yours, is that the head appears a little undersized, as with Inart's Batman. Hopefully it's just a case of the camera/angles, and it'll be a different story in person.
Could be angles yeah! I generally shoot on a 24-70 lens, so anything on the lower end may warp perception slightly
I love Lord of the Rings, and i am watching all of them over right now. If i had the extra funds, i would have started collecting these also. But i owe 1900 in preorders right now and im still waiting on my cases and that may be a while. As of right now, i have 6 sitting in the box still on the floor until they come in
bro, gotta pick your spots for sure! You got this!
7:01 Will you forgot that Aragorn fell into the river after the battle with the Orcs, so all the other blood stains that was on him got washed away but not the hands. Also Aragorn is a badass and in the films he never really gets battle damaged because he’s the one that’s dishing out the blows 😂.
You're right, I don't recall seeing Aragorn bloodied all over in any of the films. Instead, he just tends to get wet, sweaty, dirty, and with bloodied hands.
From what I can gather, Inart are producing/only have the licence for TFOTR and not The Two Towers, so I don't think Aragorn toppling over the cliff and into the river is the reasoning here. It's more likely that if the films were more bloody, the films would have been rated for an older audience; a 15 rather than a 12 here in the UK.
Aragorn does dish out the blows lol! Yeah, I think they're a cool inclusion, but I feel like you'd have to bloody up other areas to make it look aligned.
I think the bloody hands reflect the end of the fellowship of the ring after the battle at Amon Hen and with Lurtz. I think when he tries to help Boromir he has bloody hands at this point 👍
Nice! Can't wait to get mine. Granted, the original render looked better, but these "downgrades" happen 90% of the time lately.
it's true! Reasonable range of decline.
Great Review Will. They missed a trick not giving us a fire torch to go in his other hand (like when he fights the Ring Wraiths in fellowship). That would have been amazing!!
Very excited for your Harry Potter review. I missed out but will be picking up on the after market for sure!
Bro, that woulda been good! Thanks for the kind words.
@@Reactsandgames luckily torches can be made or bought elsewhere!
Looks really good! Where can the people sign up for Will's "Hair Futzing" Master Class??
I charge a very reasonable rate of $59.99 per hour (NRD)
Nice review! Can’t wait to get mine❤ The sculpt seems same as prototype but the paint, especially beard part is downgraded. Still an amazing head sculpt tho.
Too bad my inart diorama arrives early before the actual figure😂
Lol those bases! I need to get one of those. Thanks bro!
Awesome review dude! Cannot wait to receive mine from Kit
Thanks bro! You'll love it!
Great video, got mine a few weeks ago, gorgeous figure. Didn’t think the belt or coat etc is leather though.
Nice! Ahh I thought it was. I can ask maybe
Great job Will. The video’s color balance looks great. Can’t wait to get mine from Kit. I had issues with the hands on my Gandolf as well.
Thank you! I'm refining the process and its starting to look better!
I have this same problem witch magnet in this hand. How You make it ?
I do not think the headsculpt is all that different, photography is massive in the looks. Review studio Vs Ambient scene is the biggest difference.
I also enjoy the way it comes packaged, I love getting the base figure out the box and donning all the accessories myself, it feels more premium.
Nice! You'll love it then!
@@WillFoxification that's if I get it, I've pre-ordered via toys wonderland and the experience I had with Gandalf it's very stressful
@@BTEAR03 oh bro, god speed on that one lol
I find this figure amazing, I like it better than the 1/3 queen we saw at the event ( his hair is weird).
Do you think you will run into any issues with the sword pulling down the belt like that down the line?
I don't think so! I think it won't hang too much lower than it already is
Did you also have trouble with swapping hands? I can't get the other hands to attach except for the ones he comes with
Bro, had the EXACT same problem. I had to heat them up. Put a bowl of water in the microwave for 90 seconds. Pop the hands in the bowl for 10-15 seconds, the heat should allow them to attach.
@@WillFoxification does the hot water affect the paint at all?
@@WillFoxification Thank you so much, I will try that right away. It was driving me nuts
Still waiting on mine...sold called "first batch"....hell i still dont have my inart batman...😢
I'm hoping more Batmans are shipping soon. Apparently they should be
Great review as always Will!
thanks my bro Nomar!
Appreciate you making this video! I've been super curious on the InArt figures.
Glad I could help!
Great review Will.
When doing a close up of the figure's face, try keeping it away from the lens, it will distort the head-sculpt.
Instead, keep a distance and zoom in with lens to retain facial proportion.
Will do! Still learning the tiny things lol
Damn, he looks amazing. I can’t wait to display him next to my Gandalf. Really sad to hear they haven’t fixed the issue with the hands, for the price we pay it’s really annoying 😅 I might try heating the ones from Gandalf see if that helps…
Bro he does! Yes, try heating a bowl of water for 90 seconds. Then dip the hands in for 10-15 seconds
@@WillFoxification oh wow! I thought I had to heat them with a hair dryer or something. You telling me I should instead heat some water and dip them? Like super hot water? No risk for the paint? Thanks for the advice!
@@Zanmi This is what my friend who fixes all my stuff recommended to me and it worked! Hairdryer also worked. I put the bowl of water in the microwave. Try whichever method you prefer!
Yeah i agree. Prototype was 11/10. This is solid 9. Still one of the best but not perfect yet :) Anyway im waiting for mine, hope earlier then 2027 :)
Honestly miniwork at a 6” sculpt has a better Virgo head
Goo's lord how many time are you going to nag the "downgrade" of sculpt?
As many times as it takes for people to set their expectations reasonably prior to receiving theirs
I’m aware that there’s a downgrade but putting them side to side it’s a bit difficult for me to pinpoint exactly what the downgrades are, like I can SEE it but I can’t point it out. Would anyone be able to help a fella out here?
His face looks more flat, wide, and Brutish, instead of fine and aristocratic. More like a cousin.
@@daren2501 Yeah paint apps and the overall facial structure is slightly less accurate.
I was about to get my money back for how long this took but Not a bad look at all
it's great!
Great job on the lighting and styling the hair Will! Your skills have improved a lot from your Gandalf review!
Aragorn looks amazing here! Looking forward to getting mine from Kit!
Thanks so much bro! I'll continue to refine the technique!
Great review! I can't wait for mine to arrive from Kit in 2067 😂
bro, more like 2047 come on now
I dont know why they dont use a full thin metal plate for the base top and magnets in the soles to attach him anywhere. Their sculpt quality seems to be going downhill. These preimum prices arent resprsented in what im seeing here.
Great review though.
Great review definitely mind-blowing specially the tailoring
yes bro the tailoring is dope!
0:31 That art box is a banger! 🔥👀
it is!
awesome review! under the right lighting i think this is unbeatable! fyi that little knife slides into the mini slot on the sword sheath!
Thanks bro! Yes, I slid that bad boy in there.
I hope the wrist pegs are better than in Gandalf's case. Smallest nudge and they fall off. Seems like magnet only works 50%, so is the wrist peg itself doesn't do anything.
And NO SPARE WRIST PEGS.....
Really annoying.
yeah I'm with you 100%. The wrist pegs need to get better. The magnets dont help much
I hope magnets are stronger this time. My Gandalf have fallen twice and I am so anxious using the base.
Mine has fallen too, I fixed it by giving it a slight backwards tilt at the ankles. No more falls. Looks ok from the front, but weird from the side.
FYI, my feet magnets stick to the base but the figure falls at the ankles. It's a joint issue of some kind.
I just use crotch grabber from my Asmus Faramir.
Magnets are better this time, yes. They're even better on Harry Potter cause he's a smaller fig
Oof this doesnt look as good as i thought it was gonna look like. Im already being selective with ny figures, so i guess im still off the Inart train! At least until more licenses come out!
Fair enough! I think it's one of the best headsculpts I've ever seen, but to each their own! I also am a big LOTR fan!
Wooop wooop tonight it was!! 🙌🏽
We did it lol!
It can't be that you didn't place Gandalf next to Aragorn, I was waiting for that photo, anyway excellent video and review
Great review, lighting helps see the colours etc really well. I’ve got one on the way and remain unhappy with the headsculpt. That forehead into bridge of nose is scary.
Thanks bro! Yeah, the in hand may be slightly distorted as I held him somewhat close to the lens, too.
One step closer to that Harry Potter review! Great review Will. Hopefully I will get him soon, he looks great in the review!
Bro yes! Soon fo sho!
I’ve got mine on pre order from pop, can’t wait until he ships!
Nice! Enjoy it!
Great review Will look forward to getting my figure but not looking forward to doing the belt as got Parkinson’s so intricate things are tricky ps you’re reviewing is getting better
It's amazing to finally have a figure that looks like Viggo!
yes! It's a total win!
Great review Will! This is probably my most anticipated figure. Need them to announce a Legolas soon.
thanks bro! You're gonna love it!
Here it is!!! Preemptive like for you comrade Will.
My man! Thanks bro!
Is this the best Inart figure?
That honor still goes to Pennywise IMO. This is prob my 2nd fave
You can use the broken sword with Boromir when he finally comes out. He cut himself with it in Rivendell.
broooo good idea. If they make him lol
In this video it doesn’t like Viggo at all
And one eye seems really off
No worries, it has adjustable eyes, so feel free to move them to your liking!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks my bro! You the man
Naughty, naughty. You tricked us. S tier review as always Will! Thank you for giving something to hold us over until he finally shows up at our doors.
Hah thanks Matthew! Harry Potter next, your fav!
@@WillFoxification Wooooooo! Bring it baby. Still chasing him down. I’m worried all who bought him never plan on parting with him.
@@Spider-Matty bro it's pretty damn good
Looks like a 10 to me! Unfortunately I have this preordered with spec fiction, so I won't see this before I die of old age in 70 years or so 🤣
lol you'll get it before you retire!
7/10 head sculpt. Compare it to their own $3k 1/3 Aragron, which now has the head sculpt of the 1/6 prototype that was shown.
That 1/3 Aragorn is pretty insane
I'm afraid the outer cloak will be easily prone to flaking
I sure hope not!
@@WillFoxification i really hope too! can't wait my copy to be delivered
Dude, you've *got* to stop going on and on/reiterating about the "downgrade" (HOW many times did you repeat it?!!) when you can't be arsed to conversely explain *why* this is a normal and more importantly unavoidable part of the process. I'm not just taking you to task but every UA-camr that does this. Especially on likenesses. Generally one of your biggest strengths and one that sets you apart from other YTers is being fair and balanced.
It's not that you don't have a point, but that you're being a bit disingenuous for the sake of sensationalism. If the people that make figures did indeed take the necessary steps to negate those "downgrades" like using resin and polystone not plastic for finals, avoiding materials prone to thermal issues at scale (which you rightly pointed out on the wrist pegs but I'm talking headsculpts), custom level perfectly coiffed hair out of the box, custom/prototype level paintjobs with custom level wait times as well and therefore costing 2 to 3 times as much and selling to no-one, you'd be happy but no-one else would and all the companies would go bust. You can want proto level and keep saying it's a downgrade over and over but it means nothing if you don't concede what it would take or whether you're prepared to spend the money (and time) to get to that level. God knows Keco doesn't!
I know I've harped on about this a couple of times, but at least be fair and measured and stop playing to the easily triggered! It just stokes the fires of hyperbole in the fans as well and God knows we have too much of that. I love the channel I love Natalie and you're fair on *so* much/a great mediator with others! And to be clear I'm not disputing your sincerity. But c'mon!
Totally agreed on the assembly thing though!
Having said all that maybe I should just kick back and make a drinking game out of it! 😉
lol make it a drinking game, yes!
You make an interesting point. I obviously don't agree, but I respect the hell out of your honesty for making it! At least you were somewhat chill about it lol!
Right or wrong, most collectors expect their in-hand product to look like the pictures of the prototype that they pre-ordered. We always say that 5-10% is reasonable, but InArt has experienced little to no downgrade in Gandalf, Batman, and Pennywise. In fact, some of the figures have actually improved in terms of likeness. Joker is debatable.
Regardless, I feel me stating a few times that there's a downgrade in headsculpt is doing exactly what you're asking of me, being fair and balanced. I get called an InArt shill, which I feel are statements made by those who don't actually listen to what I say about InArt products. Still, I think it's important to set reasonable expectations for collectors. Collectors are expecting InArt to deliver proto quality, and they didn't here. They have for others, but not here. It's still amazing, but not exactly the best headsculpt ever like many were expecting. That fact bears repeating.
@@WillFoxification Hey mate. I'm glad we agree to disagree. And the last thing on earth I would call you is a shill. And agree that they're not listening just taking offence. Thanks again!
@@halfvader8015 of course bro. You the man as always!
This video is just pissing me off cause I couldn’t get my hands on this or Gandalf
Fr, l need to find one myself. Hopefully this inspires Asmus, their crown series Gandalf was actually very pretty good.
InArt Aragorn ,still looks a tons better and more accurate than InArt Gandalf . And in this case ,has no competition .
For the belt assembly, Asmus does the exact same thing with their figures ,and the difficulty vary depending on the character ,and it’s super frustrating because the booklet tutorials are often not great ,so at some I had to freestyle lol. It is definitely, annoying . But imagine if they can’t ship after a year and a half since PO ,and it takes another year to fully ship out ,how much more time would it take to ship ,if they had to actually assemble it ,lol.
More worried about :
1 QC issues , imagine having bad QC even in the VIP batch ,and it gets only worse either way each following batch …. On this price point .
What I keep seeing as QC issues with InArt ,I’ve personally never experienced with third party figures that cost 1/3 of the price .
And considering we go through retailers and resellers ,the process for a normal person to get a replacement would be pretty long and hard ,and shouldn’t even happen to begin with.
2 Actual shipping time .
Because ,they keep promising they will ramp up production next quarter ,since last year . Their Gandalf took 8 months for InArt to ship out ,ofc even longer for the resellers to redistribute after . So, how long would this take , a year ,or more ? Meanwhile other figures are being also “ released “.
So I canceled mine. A few reasons. First the brown tunic and his green duster should’ve been leather not cloth. The belt should’ve been leather. The head sculpt is not a true 1-1 of the prototype. Do for an asking price of almost $500 big ones I was ok losing my down payment. I’m getting the Ranger of the north 6” Aragorn by miniwork because I prefer the scale and I’ll make full leather clothing for it. As well as new weapons.
its trauma will. installing belts and accessories. damn hot toys with their cheap accessories, breaking right out the box. inart says you will be fine its real leather. mind blown.
The downgrade is big. I'd give it a 7
😂
nah
@@ronin_1776 this is wild. In no universe is this headsculpt a 7. The only difference between this sculpt and the prototype are the paint apps.
Exactly this, same sculpt. It's paint apps (notice in the stubble for example) and the rest is futzing / posing / lighting as always. Let alone lenses etc. Figure is a 9 every day of the week. @@thenewapelles6448
@@thenewapelles6448 Almost. And often resin for the proto but plastic for final, thermal stuff and so on. But unavoidable really same goes for the time on deco/paint as you say. They could get it closer, if everyone was fine with paying double or more/custom prices. And JND shows people aren't. And waiting even longer, which people are absolutrly not cool with. Which is why it's so stupid for commenters to be so hyperbolic like this fool. And Much as I love Will's stuff, UA-camrs to a degree too for continually overstating it without explaining the unavoidable reasons. Mostly because they don't know themselves and just make the criticism regardless.
Disappointing head Sculp.
Fair enough! I love it!
@@WillFoxification The material used and figure it self is great for sure just wish 1/6 companies can make the head sculpt they show on the prototype it’s just fair for a collector to receive a premium when you pay a premium price.
@@LuxMorgano Yes, this expectation is why I felt the need to say there is a downgrade here. People need to set expectations accordingly if they want to enjoy this figure.
This sculpt is definitely not so good.
Ahh sorry to hear. I love it!
