It's an excellent piece of music but keep in mind that it's not in the film's original soundtrack. For the DVD release of "Stalker", Tarkovsky's soundtrack was altered and augmented, probably to take advantage of the surround sound. Some DVD releases have Tarkovsky's original audio included and this is of course the only authentic version. The altered soundtrack has several problems, e.g. Beethoven's music mixed WAY too loud (it's barely audible in the original which was Tarkovsky's intent, the idea is that the viewer is asking himself whether he really heard it or not) or adding bird chirping in the Zone (it's deathly silent in the original), and on top of that Stalker says: "How silent it is! It's the quietest place on earth!". A similar unfortunate surgery was performed on "Mirror", so seek out DVD releases that include the original sound as an option.

In the absence of the conditions Tarkovsky wanted, some of the scenes are a bit like kids playing make believe. It’s a shame because the actors are so great. Tarkovsky wanted to shoot the film in Tajikistan, use a different film stock, plan special effects. It’s a case of what might have been.
I'm a simple man; I see video with extended music from a movie who I deeply love, I give a like.
Tarkovsky was the god of film. No other director has ever come close to achieving what he did with Stalker.

although i like tarkovski more, i personally really value bergman too. they kinda work on the same level for me.

the film was still amazing being filmed in the baltics, although its horrible how the shooting of this film ultimately led to tarkovskys demise..
