Sadly, it's not something we can control in Planner. As it's an iCalendar Feed, it can take many hours for it to update in Outlook, and there's no way we can change that refresh limit. Of course to force it, you can simply remove and re-add it, but other than, it will require waiting for Outlook to poll and update it for you.
Hi Scott. I am trying to use MS Planner just like MS Project for construction scheduling. Please let me know if I can add columns such as duration, predecessor, successor...etc in a grid view & link them to create a construction schedule. Thanks.
Good content. thanks. I am interested in the concept of task blocking on my calendar and I don't find the 'add to Outlook' feature in Planner very useful. It doesn't update when I change the timing of tasks in Planner, and it involves too many clicks and drags to transform the all day Planner calendar event that appear in Outlook into an event with on my daily calendar. I would find it really useful to use the To Do sidebar feature in the new Outlook experience to drag tasks that originate in Planner to my calendar. However although the 'Assigned' and 'Planned' tasks from Planner appear in all versions of the actual To Do app in those categories, those categories are omitted from the To Do sidebar in Outlook, and if tasks that originate in Planner are added to My Day in the app they do not appear in the My Day on the Outlook To Do side bar. Do you know why that is? Is it a bug or a feature. Will it be corrected? It seems like a big missed opportunity from Microsoft
Thanks for your kind feedback 😀 Sadly, as you outlined, those are missing features in the integration of Planner and To Do, within Outlook and I can only hope that they bring these out in the future 😀
the issue we have is adding comments to premium plan tasks, the nice simple basic plan tasks comments work well and easy, the annoying way you cannot see comments on the planner app for premium tasks is a pain
Sadly, not in Microsoft Planner, there are no capabilities for custom fields. However, in the upcoming Planner Premium this year, there seems to be capability to add custom fields, so it's something to keep an eye on
Thanks for the heads up, as the Teams App name has now changed. Please search for 'Planner' and the new Teams App for Task Management will then load, as Microsoft are now re-branding these under experiences under the single 'Planner' brand now
Great video! How long does it take for Planner to synchronize new tasks to show in Outlook?

Can we add a custom field, say purchase order number?

Teams doesn't have an app called Tasks by Planner or anything like that. What am I missing?
Thanks for the heads up, as the Teams App name has now changed. Please search for 'Planner' and the new Teams App for Task Management will then load, as Microsoft are now re-branding these under experiences under the single 'Planner' brand now

Sadly not in Planner, the formatting isn’t something we control 🥲
